A scan from the May issue of Comic@Bunch magazine reveals that manga Btooom! will be entering its final arc. The final arc will begin in the next issue of the magazine which will be released April 21, 2014.

Mangaka Junya Inoue began the series in 2009 and has since produced 13 volumes. The series also received a TV anime adaptation which aired October 2012.

Hmm..... I was never interested in the anime or the manga.... Should I give either one of them a try, since the final arc of the manga is coming soon?

With the huge arc it just finished, I thought it was only about 1/2 - 3/4 of the way done. Sad to know it's on the final arc, but I'm super excited to see how it'll end.

Thinking back, not all that much has even happened in this series. I mean, just look at it in comparison to say Battle Royale, it feels like there was more substance in the first couple chapters of that than the entirety of this.

The Anime covers the first 50 chapters and about 20 have been released since then, in case you're interested.

Kinda happy it's ending. From the way it's going, it's losing my interest. Plus, we still don't know what happened to Kousuke and his gang, which I'm still pretty depressed about, since I like his character more than any of the other characters.

And thanks for accepting my submission for the story.

Unfortunately there isn't enough material. They used up over 50 chapters in season 1 and if it is ending in a few chapters then there will only be about 25 more chapters done which really isn't enough. That and usually the anime is made to promote the books; there's nothing to promote if it's ending. The first season did its job, increased the manga sales. That and the disc sales were absolutely terrible, like 300 copies...

He already has a new series out, La Vie en Doll. It's really good! Check it out if you haven't. Hopefully in a few years it'll have enough material for anime adaptation as it is tailor made for it.
koops330 said:
Im surprised because like 5 chapters ago it could have ended and it would of been fine, but since it didn't end there I assumed they where only like 1/2 done with the story.
Yeah, it does seem like its ending abruptly at this point. As you say, it was almost done and then... psych! New people but now... over soon? Ah well... as I said, he has a new one out already. When I saw that announcement I had a feeling BTOOOM! would end soon though both books have teams of artists so I don't think he's strapped for time.

It's been on my "plan to read" list ever since I watch the anime.. I was hoping for a second season but it looks like we probably won't get something like that anytime soon "if not ever". I'm gonna read the manga in one sitting then :)

Well to be fair Eden no Ori was developed more but that ending was RIDICULOUSLY rushed. It's hard for me to say which is better: more development with a 1-2 chapter rush job for the end OR a little less development with a properly paced ending.

Side note: Eden no Ori was really great and I wished it could have wrapped up properly. Did we even get a kiss between those two (not related to some life/death moment)?

Why the fuck did he have to introduce the loli? That really was an unnecessary character to establish.

Btooom! is a fun manga to read, even if it's pretty clear (at least for me) that the mangaka was flying by the seat of his pants and juggling around ideas constantly. When the anime aired, i always opened the respective manga chapters and would watch the show while turning pages in the manga. It surprised me to see just how much of the timing and camera angles that I loved in the show were copied directly from the panels of the manga. I'm currently still impatiently waiting for the latest chapter since it's been a cliffhanger after cliffhanger lately but I guess I shouldn't hold my breath, considering the scanlation's extremely busy schedule.

Read up to the latest English translated manga, and have briefly breezed further through the Chinese translated ones. The story has thus far been interesting enough to keep me on the edge of my seat and wanting more.
The anime of the first 50 chapters was damn good and very much underrated in my opinion. I seriously hope they make a second season, or at least some OVAs to conclude the entire story. Without revealing too much, I hope that the MC will finally meet up with his "Waifu" soon (PM me if you already know the future, I don't know how far behind I am)!

The term 'final arc' is a little deceptive. It seems like it's too soon to guess that it'll "[end] in a few chapters." Based on the numbers you mentioned, the anime would have averaged over 4 chapters of manga per episode. (I've seen the anime, but have yet to read the manga, so I can only surmise here.) This final arc could easily yield multiple episodes' worth of material. It all comes down to pacing and just how much material is in each chapter, and what kind of material (actiony, talky, etc.) That said, I do agree that the poor sales would be more than enough to keep the series from getting a second season. OVAs may be the best realistic bet to hope for.

Unless the final arc is 25 chapters which is two years it won't be enough though they could go slower. Won't happen sadly. Mark my words. Enjoy the manga as it is all we will get now. While it lasts.

Oh fuck yes.

Btooom is one of my top rated anime (I don't give 9's out easily), and hopefully this means we'll at least get an OVA to wrap things up.

If not, then I'll look into the manga once it's done.

I watched the anime and enjoyed it. As soon as this ends I'll definitely read through the whole thing, even though i would have preferred a second season.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

Yes though now I wish they'd instead waited. If they'd known they could have done up to chapter 64, perhaps changed things a bit and just ended it there. Ah well...
