Pretty good episode, not OMG amazing or anything, but I liked what happened here. I still have a problem connecting with Kamille, though and i could see that hindering my experience with the series. Still, Quattro was great and I liked his story about Char Aznable

Quattro seems more soft-hearted than Char. It's nice.

That father was a total idiot. He had the perfect opportunity and yet he goes back because his dick said so?

Kamille's Whiny Bitch mode was turned to max in the end of this episode. I can't even feel sorry for him since he kept complaining at the end. How awful his parents were to each other, then how no one had the right to tell him about his parents because they were died in front of his eyes.

Yet not once did he complain about how they treated him. How were they terrible parents? Affairs doesn't necessarily make bad parents... And if they were, why are you whining so much about them being dead? I really hope this character doesn't act like this for long.

Oh my, that Char self-reference was pure gold.
Also glad to see he seems way more caring and soft-hearted than he used to be (caring about the safety of the colony he and his men infiltrated to steal the MKII's, trying to help Kamille after he lost both parents, pretty much not killing anyone unless necessary) : Quattro Bajeena pretty much seems to be an upgraded Char Aznable. Looking forward to see where that goes.

Another crazy shitty sex-obsessed scientist dad who died from his own stupidity.

Kamille turned on his hardcore emo mode for this episode and god that was hard to watch: on the one hand it's pretty realistic for a kid like him to be super confused and angry at the sudden loss of his mom and dad, but on the other you can't help but want to slap him back to his senses.

Wow another intense episode!!

First off i'm glad Kamille's father died like a fucking idiot. That's what you get for betraying your son once again.

I feel bad losing Rick Dias, but they'll make a new one for sure!

Did you see Char too off his sunglasses and look pissed off that some asshole went of with his suit?? He even has the scar from the One Year battle!

Wow Char referencing himself!! Quattro seems like a nice name, but he will always be Char!

Though Kamille was disrespectful to Char, when he himself is giving you advice based on his personal experience.

Emma and Reccoa probably knows Quattro is Char :P

Still Kamille is such a cry baby. I don't think Amuro cried this much last season!

Can't wait for the next episode!!

Ehh. Kamille is really annoying at the moment; first he trash talks his parents, then he says nobody else can talk about them because they died in front of him? I get that they weren't good parents, but he's been way too unreasonable. Like insan3, it's getting to the point where I think it could affect my enjoyment of the series. We'll see how it goes.

The Char namedrop was pretty cool though.

I don't know if it's just me, but the Gundams don't feel as superior to other mobile suits as it did in the first series. The original Gundam was cutting edge technology. It may just be that I'm accustomed to more mobile suits destroyed per battle, but it doesn't seem like people are hitting each other very often in this, so far.

Kamille's a bitch. Many people will say he get's better as the series goes on. He does become more competent and mature... But I maintain that he was a 'lil bitch from beginning to end.

And yes the Gundam Mk. II isn't as godly as the original Gundam. This series goes through mobile suit upgrades bitchin' fast, and in fact by the end of the series the Mk. II is completely obsolete. Just wait 'til they get the Zeta Gundam.

Dad goes down. Kamille really is completely absurd as a character, but perhaps his over the top irritating-ness will actually endear him to me eventually. We shall see. The action is pretty dang cool, but I still feel the show hasn't really started firing on all cylinders. By now, the original Gundam was pretty fully engaged.

I have the same problem. It doesn't make sense to me because it changes every second (like with the mom last episode) from the child hating his parents to a child loving his parents. (I know teenagers can be like that, but not in such a short time).

At least, it gives another occasion for Casval to show how much more "adult" he became in seven years.
Big impression Reccoa and Emma know his true identity (even the captain of the ship). At this point, why does he still use an alias (Quattro)? (btw, since everyone knows Artesia and Casval's story, why does he even reference his past life as Char?)

Do not ask me why, but compared to the past, I really enjoyed the story and start to be a participant. The plot moves forward always shipped manner, the story does not show breaks in the events, on the one hand is good but also bad. Drawings and animations, very good. Choreography of more than decent fights, interesting dialogues, shame that I will not be able to understand well the meaning since I have not the right subtitles.

The last part of this episode really captured why Kamille is so messed up and why he is such a unlikable character. Seeing both your parents die in front of you and have a less than desirable family life is something most people would sympathize with. The problem with Kamille is that regardless of what family problems he has, he is not a functioning human being. If you met a person like Kamille in real life, you would do whatever you could to avoid him because he is not a person you would ever want to be around. He can't control his emotions, and he acts on those emotions without any regard to the consequences of his actions.

The only just in the anime is that Kamille is making his own tragedy. Every bad action that has occurred to him throughout the anime is due to his poor decisions. His parents wouldn't be dead if he didn't punch Jared in the first episode, or if he didn't steal the Gundam. I imagine bad things will continue to happen to him until he learns to manage his severe personal flaws. I can at least respect this about the anime. My big question is how did they ever think this would be entertaining. I would rather the main character at least be a functioning human being.

Sorry, but this knocking of Kamille for being whiny.. I'm giving him a pass. With all the brats we've seen in anime, this one I understand. I mean, he watched both of his parents die! You can see why he is such a rebel as his dad was a mega dick face. Kamille is deeply flawed, especially with the experiences he has had. I wonder how he'll turn out to be less threatening and more of the good guy as the show goes on.

Anybody think it was funny that Char was piloting a Gundam?

So I'm now getting the fancations straight: Titans are apart of the Earth Federation, but are now power hungry and are just like the Zeons. Char's rebel group is from the earth federation and they're sick of The Titans. Also, Emma is awesome :).

What this kid want??? I put kid in bold because I'm not expect him to always make great decisions/choices (to err is human)… regardles of right ones or wrong ones aside he needs to understand that every decision he made have a consequence and so far, he is acting like he wasn’t the one who make the choice(s). If this is the way that this show is trying to make him likeable their failing miserably...

Tbh, I ended up dropping the show because of Kamille. I think these OG Gundam series never really totally connected with me because half the time, Idk what the fuck is going on with the characters. Even 0079 and Turn A had this problem for me, though I did end up finishing the both of them. I probably will come back to this series eventually though because it just feels wrong to not have watched it all.

I'm surprised they aren't painting one of the Gundam's Red for Char. I mean, I guess he still had his own mobile suit while the painting was still happening, so maybe now that the Rick Dias is destroyed he will paint one red. Let the record show that Astonaige is a dumbass. A soldier unwilling to give his life (which probably wouldn't have even been necessary, the guy is like 50) to protect an important asset for his military is just pathetic. I love how they are trying to be subtle by connecting "Quattro" with the Red Comet. Note I said trying, as they aren't doing a very good job. "Kamille is a strong boy!"

Wonder who it was that telepathically talked to Kamille. I wish I cared that Kamille's dad is dead too, but I just don't. When does Emma become Kamille's lover? The show promised me at least that much. Again, very subtle. I love watching 80s anime so much.

Kamille: bawling over his dead parents

credits: oh, i can't help believing you

How did Kamille know that Char took revenge on the Zabi family? Like, that would have had to become common knowledge just days before this, because Char was living without scrutiny in Zeon/Axis right before the first episode of Zeta.

I didn't get what was happening at the very beginning before the title card.

It seems from this episode that Char's comrades didn't really realise that he was Char. Suspected him of it though. I wonder where did he get his new name from.

I should also say that Zeta seems to have some interesting new ideas so far. For example, flares are used quite a lot for delivering signals and orders in battles. I like that detail.

Judging by the talk at the end, it's pretty much well-known now that Char is Casval. The lighting in this scene was strange btw.

I also have to say that this seems to be the first episode without a slap.

P.S. Char seems to have a Harry Potter styled scar on his forehead now. How did he get it?

P.P.S. What's the problem of picking up Kamille's father floating in space? It's not like he disintegrated or something. Same for his mom. I also wonder who shot Rick Dias and whose voice was that. Is it implied to be Quattro?
-------------
@Rei_III It seemed to me that the captain and Blex just happened to guess that Quattro = Char, it's not like they knew it all along, I think. As for Reccoa and Emma, I'm not sure at all. Why would Emma know? Why would Reccoa? Only if she had an affair with him earlier, which might be indicated by the fact that Quattro placed a hand on her shoulder, which shows some trust and closeness. Or maybe kindness. The entire scene is so subtle that I can't really say whether Reccoa knew of Quattro's identity or guessed it in the proccess. Or maybe didn't guess at all. I don't know. But I think that it won't be too long until Casval drops his new nickname and returns to his old self.

People are just defecting left and right. Almost every episode had a character defecting to the other side, lmao. Kamille now having lost two parents on the same day is tough. Wonder if he'll get even more messed up now than he already was. But I gotta admit I feel a little sorry about him. His parents seemed to be pretty shitty to him.
