Ive been going at it for about a year now, completed 120 series and was enjoying it until a couple days ago. While anime is still good and interesting, i have this feeling where i cant be bothered sitting it out and finishing the series. I feel like doing something else all the time. I get the same feeling as when im doing homework.

So how about you?

Same feeling for me, though not as bad as homework.

I usually just log onto MAL or another forums.

I blame the fact that I get my anime fix through the sporadic releases of the week (FMAB, Saki, Naruto, Haruhi) thus meaning I have no inclination to go out of my way and finish the other series I've already started.

That, and my DVD player's busted.

Maybe its because you're watching it lie its a chore or something. Just watch whatever you want and if its boring move on to something else

Don't recommend me something that is still publishing, unless its close to being finished. Don't recommend me anything that isn't licensed.

I think a lot of people should give older anime a try, either that or just stop watching altogether if its boring to you.

You know, I don't believe anyone could not get bored while watching stuff like Nogizaka or Vampire Knight. So it's perfectly normal. Just watch better shows.

Are you watching anime you enjoy?

I know it kills me to watch anime I don't like. I'd sooner drop an anime halfway through than force myself to continue if I didn't enjoy it.

As others have said, give it a break for a while. Come back in a month or two (or six) and give it a fresh start. Burnout can happen in any hobby. You just have to find something else to do. I've been a bit burnt out lately, barely watched a few dozen episodes in the past month, but I've been filling my spare time with gaming, TV and other stuff. Quite a bit of regular TV and movies actually.

120 series in a year is over two series a week, which is quite an intense regime. Give it a break, catch up on sleep, kill time doing other stuff, then just get back to anime again in the future. You'll be better off for it. I speak from experience as i go through phases where I can watch a great deal, then periods where I barely watch anything; that's how I've managed for so long. Too much can certainly be a bad thing.

Just watch Anime that suits you or your style. If you watch an Anime that doesn't suit you, then it'll be boring for you.

Hmmm.... well if you don't mind me asking a couple of questions LaiLidE:

1) Do you usually watch the same types of genres in anime? And if so, what are those genres?

2) Do you see the same pattern in a majority of animes you watch? Like you see the same types of jokes, the same types of characters, or the same type of general plots SOO many times, that it seems repetitive?

3) Do you see the scenarios where you wonder why this happens in "that" anime and yet you can never find a definitive answer?

You really have to take a break. This happened to me many times, but I still kept watching. I do not recommend that, so yeah, take a break.

Rather than getting bored with anime itself I'm finding less and less really interesting ones as time passes by. Lately I've found some great stuff though thanks to the recommendations forum here. :)

It happens to me sometimes too. I get bored and can't watch anything. Just take a little break and you'll get motivated again.
You can try new things in the meantime, like playing visual novels for instance. That's what I usually do when I take an anime break.

Like most things in life, we can get tired of them from time to time. Perhaps it's just overkill for you? Maybe if you took a break from anime for a while, you would appreciate it more when you came back to it. :)

My motivation to watch anime has been dragging lately too. Once school starts I'm pretty much going to have no time to watch, especially the summer shows that I'm way behind on. I've also started to get back into video games too, but since I've already spent so much money on anime I'll probably be watching for a long time so I still have years to finish the stuff I want to see.

This is what happened for me too. Until last winter, I hadn't been watching anime for almost three years. I too seem to be slowing in my viewings, however there a number of series I am simply waiting to run their TV course before I get down to watching them. I think it's a come and go hobby, for me. Not a constant, like painting and reading.

It lost a lot of it's charm after I finished LoGH.

But there's still some old classics around, and even some good new series airing, so there's always something to fall back to.

I got bored of anime quite a long time ago. I think it might just be that I was never that into it. It's cool and all, but you can only watch so much. I watch like maybe a few episodes a week nowadays.

all the time. it's why it's taken me almost 10 years to watch 97 series.

for people to have watched four or five times that amount in just a couple of years blows my mind. i usually get fed up of watching something after just a few episodes and have to take a break for a while.

1) no i watch anything, all genres and so, my reason to watch anime seems to be to know as much characters, know as much plots, know as much stories etc. thats why i dont go for 50+ ep series except card captor sakura =P

2) yes i see a lot of patterns, cliche's and old jokes, i mean 120 series ud find some things repetitive but usually if the cliche isnt in your face obvious and boring i dont mind it [Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka worst use of cliches]

3) no i dont really and if i do need to find something out id usually go into episode discussion

Yeah, this was recently my problem, too.
I found myself more and more bored as I continued to watch things so I stopped.
Well, 3 weeks was my limit. Haha, just try taking a break. And you'll realize how much you miss it & how awesome it is.

My advice, pick a kickass series to watch, too.

Best show ever, there's nothing in this world I love more than some Robot Chicken. Their anime spoofs have been killer too, I should try and find a link to the "call my Inuyasha" one.

Have same problem when watching anime with 50-60+ episodes. If I am bored by it, I usually stop watching it and begin to watch other not so long anime with 12-24 series. After this, I am again ready to watch that long anime. =)

I guess I've just gotten more picky.

Sometimes it just takes a push to watch anime/read manga. I usually find myself watching more anime than I should before homework and tests lol.. not a good thing to do.

Then i decided to take a break from those and check out an anime i didn't watch yet, and poof....

Just feels like a roller coaster at times to me.

My two major hobbies are anime and video games. I sometimes take breaks from each one for long periods of time. I call it going on haitus.. ;)

sometimes its not a full break but I just cut back significantly on one or the other. Both anime and video gaming have slow times.
