Pretty supportive actually, they started to watch anime recently actually, Death Note to be specific, obviously.

My parents are actually very supportive of my hobbies, and besides, they are too busy worrying over Friendship is Magic to focus on anime.

at least my little pony's kind of like anime

they used to call me an otaku occasionally and mockingly, but now that title became a hackneyed nickname
once we had a little 'talk' about whether i watch hentai or not. back then i was 17 (now 18 xDDD), so they were really worried. of course i told them no, even though i had koe de oshigoto and it is r-rated

This, like seriously. How can parents have so much bad timing when it comes to anime.
Yep it always happens, She's probably used to me watching "porn"

My 63 year old dad saw me watching Hayate no Gotoku and the first thing he said was
"What the fuck?" I explained it and he just went "So that's entertaining for Asians? How fucked, its so childish." Then He saw me watching Steins;Gate, he watched it with me and said it reminded him of a 50's movie that he saw that was about time travel in the early 1900's. But he said it was the ONLY anime that he actually liked and wouldn't mind watching the whole season. As it wasn't childish like Pokemon and Hayate. "Seems more realistic and I like how they talk about theories" *Yells in Spanish* "You better go to college or I'll whoop the shit out of you, be like that red headed girl, smart and actually THINKING BEFORE SPEAKING!" Me: o_O "OK....but I already do..." *Cuts me off* Dad: Bullshit! *Starts lecturing me* Me "OK dad I'll build a time machine and get involved with a evil organization dedicated to taking over the world." Dad: ".........just go to college >.>"

I dont have any problems with my parents. My mother was first like "WTF?" but then she accepted it, she even watched Hellsing with me. xD
Same for my father, I watch sometimes animes with him when I stay at his house.
My little brothers laughed first at me for watching animes, but then I showed them Death Note. They liked it, and now they are watching with me sometimes.^^

Yes, but I'm used to it by now. I still find it a bit irritating sometimes, because I don't insult the things that they enjoy, even if I don't get it. But ultimately - I don't care. I enjoy what I enjoy, and everyone else can make of it what they like. I've never been one to be overly concerned with what other people think of me.

My mom liked anime and manga/manhwa since the early 70's (her favorite being manga called Candy Candy). My dad watched anime back in like 60's but I don't think he went far as liking it. So, they don't mind that I watch/like anime.

No, that's just weird, my parents have better things to do then making fun of their kids watching anime. I don't think parents are going to care.

To be honest, everyone is like this quite often, me included, but i don't forget myself and i still post a lot of personal shit which is what forums are made for , if they didn't want us to have our own style and posts it would be an article instead a forum thread.

All I know is that my mom knows Japanese cartoons (basically anime, duh) look a lot much nicer than the average American cartoons, like Ed, Edd, and Eddy. Although...I liked that show when I was younger. .-.

My mom is neutral about it...After watching Grave of the Fireflies .__. (I can understand why...)
BUT~My dad makes fun of me from time to time.

One time when I was making a gif of Yuusei (YGO5D's), He commented that when my hair is messy, that it kinda looks like his hair.

Nahhh, not really! Mom actually encouraged my love for it by buying fansubbed episodes of Cardcaptor Sakura on VHS tape for me (she liked watching it too). I think their impressions of it started off as "It's just kid cartoons," but as I got older and started watching more mature series, they understood just how wide the audience is and how many genres there are -- basically they understood it enough to accept the appeal, I guess?? Dad never talks about it, so I have no idea -- but Mom got hooked on series like Air and Kanon.

I distinctly remember something my friend's mom said to us, though. She told us to "turn that Japanese screaming down!" Hmph.

At this point, since my sister became obsessed with Vocaloid, my parents have stopped caring about whether I like anime or not.

My dad has always liked it, so we watch whatever DVDs he buys from the Japanese video store. I even caught him watching hentai once in their room, and my mom became obsessed with anime once they watched Baccano! together. xD

But my brother always makes fun of it, saying we "all suck for watching Japanese cartoons" because we don't like Family Guy as much as he does. But my mom convinced him to watch Fullmetal Alchemist and he liked that, but he still dislikes most anime. Although he hasn't made fun of us that much since starting Brotherhood.

When I watch anime, my brother constantly makes fun of the language. T.T He's one of those people who thinks I'm watching "chinese cartoons".
My dad is rather indifferent about it, I can talk to him about an anime I saw recently and I can tell he's making an effort to try to pay attention. But at the same time, I know he doesn't really care all that much.
As a kid, it was difficult at times to watch Sailor Moon and Pokemon since my mother didn't want me watching "those cartoons where the girls are all wearing short skirts". At this point she doesn't really care, and even buys me manga, anime, and merchandise sometimes, but whenever I get in trouble she does tend to threaten to take anything I have anime-related away. D: And she thinks that most anime is perverted (which is only partially correct xD).
Like my brother, my step-dad just makes fun of it, but not seriously at all.

My parents don't limit me and don't say anything about it, except for the fact that it is part of the cartoon. My brother also watches anime, so it doesn't really matter to me. My parents and my brother don't really care what genre I decide to watch, even if it's ecchi.

On the other hand, I do love to poke fun of my father for watching Naruto.

I learned to stop leaving DVDs/manga lying out because whenever my dad finds them he mispronounces the titles in this hilarious stereotypical samurai voice.

"OHHHH, YU YU HOCKEY SHOW"
"AH-ZOO-MAN-GA DAY-OH, HYAAAAH"
"AIR GEAR wait that one is normal"

Otherwise no, sometimes they'll ask legitimately curious questions about shows they find me watching/characters I cosplay but they're not really prying or critical or anything.
I've got this burnin' like my veins are filled with nothin' but gasoline.

My Mom absoloutley HATE anime. when she sees me watching it she makes a comment like "Still watching the Hong ching sh*t?? Go make friends instead" she doesn't get that I have friends, and that I don't need more than 5. My dad on the other hand, he is super understanding. He let's me talk to him about any recent anime that I've started. He just tells me to make sure I have my assignments done. The bad thing is that he's the typical cheap dad. I wouldn't mind if he bought me a bootleg because 1.it would be hilarious 2.hes always so nice about anime
50/50 of my family agrees on it
