THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I really liked this episode, especially the suit Beato part, her suit just rocks (it's not that I don't like her dress, it's that this one looks more badass)

I think the part they handled better was the Meta-Worls (non-VN readers when the screen goes gray and time stops, then Beato and Meta-Battler appear). The BGMs were really good too, I can see they like the one when Beatrice apperas (the name is in kanji and I don't remember)

Also, Deen is great at Engrish WEEK SQUARE=WEAK SQUARE

This episode was a lot better than I expected it to be when I saw the preview and knew how much it would be rushed. Now the painful wait for 8 begins. It will be the first real test of this adaption.

I still can't get used to Rosa's voice. It just doesn't seem right.

The way they handled the Meta-World is okay for now but I hope they don't just have them standing around the whole time. That wouldn't work well for some parts

It was a pretty good ep. Some of the stuff they kept in were pretty interesting. Maybe I can make better theories now. I can't wait to see it subbed so I can be sure that they said what I thought they did.

Beato is sexy <3

I was wondering how they would handle the meta-world and I think they handled it well. Considering where they ended this episode, next week will be interesting.

I liked this episode too, i think this one and 3 have been the best ones so far.
Again, the "stop time" effect for meta-battler was pretty well done, but
.
Finally
thanks for that

Good episode. I was expecting it too be a lot more rushed, and I'm glad they ended with the chapel scene. BUUUUT...

Next preview is up! *SPOILER HEAVY!!!* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p94Oxi2LFzM

Totally spazzing over it. Gaaaahhh! A week's worth of wait is too long. Screw ep7 and just air 8 already. Haha, just kidding, but still! Dread to the Grave remix!

Great episode, and with the twilights next episode to look forward to.

My only complaint is how they did the Meta World. It looks much more nicely menacing in the manga.

i think the "stop time" effect is the best choice for the Meta World
and i'm glad that they didn't end the episode with the first twilight (when they started to rush things at the end, i was a bit worried)

preview+Dread of the grave+Asmodeus=WIN

next week it's time for
to appear \o/

The preview's kinda spoilerish for non-VN readers if you don't like getting spoiled over certain new character introductions and whatnot from next week's episode. Just a warning.

Still waiting for subs to judge this one, but it looks not bad so far. Kinda miss the tea party room setting from the meta-world, but hopefully they'll bring it back later.

Just some extra tidbits for anime-only watchers:

When it time freezes (and probably a tea room later on) = Meta-World
Battler in the Meta-World = Meta-Battler
Beatrice in the Meta-World = Meta-Beatrice/just Beatrice
Rokkenjima from October 4th - October 5th = The Game Board
Battler on Rokkenjima = Piece/Game-Battler (to differentiate, and yes they are different)

That is all. =)

That was the setting of the first official scene (and later scenes) in the meta-world in both the VN and the novel, but throughout the VN there were points where time would stop and the characters would talk in the gameboard world like they did in the anime. I'm thinking the anime will probably bring us to this setting later on, cause there are some important scenes that solely take place there.

Yeah.. I definitely recommend anime only watchers to stay away from the episode 8 preview if they want to avoid spoilers. It will ruin some of the surprises.

Wow, they really chopped out a lot of what happened with Rosa and Maria on the way to Rokkenjima. Probably for the better, those parts were rather difficult to read. Oh well, Rosa is still the best mom ever.

Another nice episode, seems like the staff are getting the hang of the pacing since episode I-X. I like their choice for the meta-world scenes, I was at first thinking they'd put in a fancy frame like the SN. Also, I agree with those who warn the anime-only watchers from watching the next episode preview, it'll be better to keep the surprise ;)

Well, they couldn't put more of those scenes if they wanted to fit all that and make the other episodes better paced. Also Rosa has enough things to win SaiMother for three tears in a row with only this episode. Even after this I didn't like Maria in the Novel (well, I still don't like after Alliance, I think I'll never like her)

My thoughts after skimming through raw: Rosa and Gohda (but especially Rosa) are made of pure win, if I can put it in this way. "Uu-uu~!" is back and lovingly annoying as always. Meta-world is nice - in the very way I imagined it should have been done. Beatrice keeps being bad-ass.
If I pretend that ep I-I never happened, Umineko is on a perfect way to get a score of 10 at the end.

And after watching preview: good art quality and character projects. Any word more would be a spoiler.

another "dont get it" episode...
well it had a few entertaining parts, like when Battler asked Maria what costume she would wear on Halloween, and i was like, "Nah, she doesnt need costume, she is already properly dressed up for Halloween, haha pwned"

Why don't you read a bit others messages? They have some answers.

Really people just like to complain when they are facing the answer

Those that are expecting to get some answers in this season are in for a big disappointment. They'll handle it in question and answer arc just like they did in Higurashi. The first season of the show will answer you NOTHING.

Well not necessarily, Battler does provide a lot of theories into how the murders took place so they give you a broad idea of how to think and what may have happened

Umineko is a thinking series. More so than Higurashi. Ryukishi07 even said in an interview that he won't directly tell the answers like he did in Higurashi. Instead he'll provide you with enough clues so you can figure it out.

Do you mean that even in the answer arc we won't get direct answers =/

Some direct answers, but probably not to the same extent that Higurashi Kai gave direct answers. EP5 supposedly is going to be more on the side of giving hints while 6 and 7 will be having more of the pivotal answers though.

The next episode is when the series takes a turn for awesome and stays that way.

People who haven't read the VN will finally get to see why people like this series so much. And that's just the beginning. It only gets better. But that's not to say that the previous 7 episodes were bad. They were good and I enjoyed them but if that's all Umineko was then the series wouldn't be nearly as popular as it is.

I really hope the anime can pull it off. They've been doing a really good job the past 3 episodes so I think they can do it.

Great episode again. I'm not really fan of Maria and her "Uu-uu", but i was quite shocked by Rosa's reactions. You're not supposed to do that to your child. Gothic Beatrice was great too :)

Hmmm... Is the title for next episode a typo? Because I can only think of weAk squares, not weEk squares, but maybe I'm missing something.

The slapping was cringe worthy, but that's the idea...

This...just isn't interesting. Maybe Endless Eight burned me out, but I just have no real interest in seeing the same things repacakged a different way, but with worse animation and worse voice acting, and worse characters. I'll continue to watch because it's something to do, but I just don't really care anymore. Maria got on my nerves with the "Uuuu"s, Rosa got on my nerves with her schizophrenic, bi-polar reactions, Kannon annoys me with his whininess, and Beatrice's voice actress just gets huskier and huskier, and Battler's still plain dumb.

Moreover, I don't see what Battler is trying to prove since this reality is nothing like the one he lived in. And he's not even surprised. I'd be shocked as hell if all of a sudden I start seeing myself do things I had never done...and yet he's trying arguing her existence? How do you even do that when she's actually there?

This just really kind of proves to me that Beatrice's existence isn't the most important thing going on here, and yet that is the main focus. I don't get it.

Well... from what I understand so far, he is trying to prove that magic and witches don't exist in Rokkenjima. He is trying to prove that the crimes in the island were done by humans and there is no magic involved.

Dunno what his thought process is about his meta-world existance and the whole game board thing... Still have to catch up.

Well you may say "repackaged in a different way" but honestly once the next episode is released it will be pretty much completely different. Can't say much about the voice acting since I personally like the majority of them but to each his own I guess (same goes for animation besides that one beatrice scene).

Basically Battler is still trying to prove witches don't exist in this scenario and isn't complaining that the reality is different since he has already denied her existence in arc one, why would that change if all the circumstances were the same (so Beatrice makes some changes to try to prove she exists) (plus how much fun would it be to have everything be the exact same, besides currently magic doesn't have to play a role at any point in either scenario). If it annoys you too much about the hypocrisy of Battler trying to prove Beatrice doesn't exist when shes right in front of him you can think of it more as Battlers trying to prove that magic wasn't involved at any point in the murders.
