Doesn't matter if ANN is covering it. I get my anime news from here and I hope it stays this way, I don't care if ANN wants to do Sankaku Complex-like news, please don't do it yourself, that's all I'm asking. If the answer is no.. well... meh.

29 years old + living with his mother? ok.. that makes it lame.

For one the article does not state on just whose house it is. For all we know its HIS house.

For two, its quite normal in Japan, where in order to rent a better place for living you would have to sell both of your kidneys...

He didn't see this coming? They would have argued long before this, I would think.
He's 29, what's he doing living with his mom? This is so messed up. If it's his house, kick her out. If it's hers, suck it up or get the f**k out.

When I was a kid and went on vacations during the summer, I'd often come back and find my mother had completely re-arranged my room. She didn't ask permission, stuff was just gone or stuffed in a closet somewhere.

As far as living with his mom...so if it was his house, he should've kicked her out? ...That's kind of a dick thing to do/say. Granted, BURNING DOWN HIS HOUSE was a retarded thing to do, so...

What an idiot...

Why burn yourself when the obvious solution would be to burn the mom?

IT Media reported that his mother didn't throw away the models, but she put them in trash bags without his permission. He saw all the models disappeared from the room and jumped to the wrong conclusion. In the end, he burnt his collections by himself. Police estimated that he had collected almost all the models and the goods of Gundam available.

I seriously laughed my ass off after reading this. xD I think it's time to pull out the EPIC FAIL card.

Agreed, then he wouldn't have end up burning his own collection like a moron.

This is actually sensible. Gundam model kits can cost hundreds of thousands- if your mother threw away hundreds of thousands of your currency, you'd probably feel pretty suicidal.

NOW THIS IS EPIC.

Lets see:
He FAILED to protect his models.
HE FAILED to notice that they are just in trash bags and not "gone" yet.
He FAILED to kick out his mother before all of this began
He failed to set himself on fire, in process burning his house and his gundam models.

Well thats....wow...This one person officially deserves the "I suck at life" tattoo on his ass....

I wish people would stop quoting this part. Its perfectly normal in Japan.

While such cases are mostly attributed to otaku, living with your family members IS encouraged there, considering the amount of money needed to buy a house/flat and the bills you need to pay. Its expensive to live alone there.

Well, that's just dumb. Typically when you lose something, the thought process is look for them first before setting yourself on fire.

This story is now totally hilarious.

FEEL pretty suicidal is the key here. Sensible people won't act on these impulses. This is not sensible.

Let's consider the possibility that this guy was on the edge of suicide anyway, and felt he couldn't talk to his family because they were too stressful.

Suddenly his actions look less stupid and more emotionally disturbed.

Unfortunately the planet doesn't have the resources to give a comfy hospital bed and lots of fun medications to everyone who's crazy, so most of us just muddle along on our own.

Reminds me of that video where the kids flips out because his mom shut down his WoW account.

Except, the kid didn't burn the house down, just lost a lot of brain cells.

If this was me, I'd spite her and buy another gundam model and make her life miserable.
