I cannot go to bed if i don't watch at least one episode. It doesn't matter how much homework or how late or how much preparations i have to do, my day is incomplete if i don't catch an episode. Once i skipped a day or so and then i felt all restless, grumpy and couldn't get anything done.

One time i had no electricity for 3 months and no internet for half a year after that. It was a period of pure survival. I had to make deals with computer teacher in school to be able to watch some in the computer lab (got him into a few titles as well).

Anime is a vital "nutrition" to me, its not just a part of my life. It IS my life-> everything i do is for the sole purpose of getting anime.

How is it possible to not have electricity for 3 months :O ?

I've been watching anime for many many years but I really don't watch them 24/7 constantly. Many times I drop watching anime for a while if I get bored of them or I'm busy with other activites. I watch about 2-3 episoders per day now, and maybe about once every 3 months, I'll find a really good anime which I finish in a three day marathon type thing. It's not my life, but I enjoy it on the side. So it's possible I can give it up...

Pretty much feel almost the exact same. It's something I enjoy, but I'm certainly not all that super hardcore about it; I've usually got a lot of other things to do that keeps me from watching a lot of it.

I'd not stop out of choice. As I see it, the only reason why I WOULD stop watching anime is if either I was basically unable to (thrown in prison for filesharing?) or I lost interest. Sometimes I pause for a while (not watched much over christmas) but even if I'm not watching them immediately, I still get the latest releases, both fresh fansubs and DVDs I'm collecting.

It's more likely that I'd give up on new series than existing ones, I must admit that a lot of newer anime just doesnt appeal, but then that has always been the case, I'm very picky about my viewing. I think I'm seeing patterns and formulas and stereotypes more now than when I began watching more because my familiarity with anime is greater generally, rather than any increase in them lately, but these things are getting more annoying. However once I love something, there's nothing and no-one that will change my mind about it.

And anyway; I'd still have manga, right?

In the future maybe but it's impossible to happen now. I began watching anime on good doses for a little less than an year now. I don't know what may happen from now on but I can continue loving it for long.

i voted "hell no". i mean its not IMPOSSIBLE, but to me anime is just another form of television entertainment, so asking me to give up anime is really like asking me to give up tv. (which would be hard because i love television entertainment <3 )

i've also been watching anime for a really long time that its become really natural to watch anime for me.

I'd be perfectly fine with giving it up here and now.

It'll take time to get used to not watching it. With the way ISPs(Comcast) and distributors(ADV, Odex) are cracking down on fansubs, it'll be inevitable that I, and many others, give up anime eventually.

Hmmm.. how to say this... Anime is probably the only kind of kinematography entertainment for me right now.
Let's start with the fact that on my TV i have only 5 channels, ant most of the time there are only "she-has-a-bastard-child" and "She-lost-memory-in-car-accident" kind of series, where i sometimes wonder if the whole show is only there to present how a woman "scores" with every guy in it (and other way around, female friends...so don't worry) And "oh-so-dramatic-problems" with one stupid onna taking revenge on another, because she stole her boyfriend -_-. I'm sure you know the genres.
Second thing that airs are tv quiz shows etc, with dumb presenters... Then once half a year there is some really good movie there, because most of the time it's all the same. For several good years they air "home alone" on Christmas... I mean... OK, the movie WAS funny, first time i watched it, second... But damn it are there really no other good christmas-themed movies out there??

And as far as cartoons goes, most of them are those suited for 5-8 years old. I beg you, please DO tell me WTF is it that in the west there is this dogmate "cartoon is for little kids". You meet with that image in movies, where when man reads comics he is described as "irresponsible" and "childish". Mukatsuku... -_-#

So you ask what my point is? simple. Give me something that presents similar level of enjoyment, and i'll have no problems switching. And please, don't give me that american crap with superheroes saving the same city everytime... It reminds me of Power rangers. Villian Knows his greatest obstacle is in city X, He knows he can't get past that obstacle, but NO, he WILL continue to assault only THIS ONE and SINGLE CITY, because he said so. The only point of creating villian is IMO "to make something that hero can fight", and reason for Hero to show off how cool and great he is. On the other hand the only other kind of show is comedy show a'la Cow and Chicken from CN or educational cartoons for kids -_-. Oh, right there is also hannah barbera, but i've never been a fan of those... somehow always found those boring.

Let's start with the fact that it's not cartoon ^_^ But OK, i'll skip that since the point is finding anything that would replace entertainment i get from watching Anime.

Now i've read synopsis, an let's say that i'd be interested. But several problems arise, first being location. I'm neither american nor candian, so it goes to searching for the next few months a sie with episodes, that probably will go down anyway :P
And next being the solely fact it's still only one story and one "universe", which leads to my next sentence.

Maybe I oversaid it, I guess there were some interesting shows lately, including Prison Break for example... watched only one episode of CSI:Something, dont remember which, and it wasn't that bad either. But one thing - My policy is to "never touch any series above 50 episodes, unless it gets enough good reviews." If it does, I check first few episodes. And the only show I actually sticked to until now is Bleach, where I really didn't notice when I was at 70+ episode. But the problem is with most "western" series, is that they are made for simple commercialism (is that a word? >.>), and there is initial plot made like "it begins like this, ends like this, and they are triying to make that", and then they strech the third part for as long as possible, giving little detail about plot. And to be honest, i'd rather watch a 1,5h movie then stick around one series for 3 years, because producer wants to squeeze as much as possible out of commercials. When the show is well made like PB that I mentioned it's fine, you can stick around because it really interests you, but many of those series don't even have a plot to begin with, to make sure that it can be produced as long as the audience will watch. Then they'll slap a 2-part ending episode and that's it.

Hope what i wrote wasn't too chaotic ^_^'

2 Reasons.
#1. A hurricane.
#2. No one in the family is capable of paying the bill.

But yeah, mentally its almost impossible.

But thats off topic, sorry.
So to get back on the topic i'll add that if i happen to not being able to watch anything at some moment, i'll at least take a look at some anime picture.

I could. I usually go through phases where I stop watching for like, a few months at a time so I could probably give it up altogether no problem. I'll probably give it up by the time I'm 18 or something anyways.

But I don't want to. D:

Put bluntly, no. I've been watching it for as long as I can remember, and I'll continue to watch it until I die, I imagine. It's one of my primary forms of entertainment, and despite the changes and evolution of anime over the past few decades, I haven't given up on it yet.

It will, of course, continue to change over the next few decades, but unless something drastic happens (like lolis becoming a standard, or nothing but harems or something equally stupid) then I have no reason to give it up.

I actually can't say yes or no. I thought I would never give up video games, but as of now, I haven't really completed any games for a long while. I still play, but now I buy more games than I actually play. Over 90% of the games that I bought since last year haven't been played for more than 3 hours and some I left unopened and untouched. It's kind of sad, really. So my answer to the poll is "I Dunno".
