| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- That was a better ending than I expected, thanks to Subaru. At this point poor Haibara must be peeing her pants in fear like Plug from Fight Ippatsu Juuden-chan . LOL An interesting observation - Subaru was reading a book that was written in French. And why was he using a huge, round ice cube in his drink? It looks from the animation style in the preview that the next episode will be a repeat, but I can't specifically remember that case. (Which isn't too surprising considering that I've watched 543 episodes of MC over the past 14 years...) |
| It was certainly a good ep - Okiya had his moments and I think something big is on it's way. Haibara must feel that too. The real thing is... well, Subaru may be Black Organization member "Bourbon" but isn't that too obvious? I love Vermouth because she had her disguise until the very end. I hope there will be some space for revealing some jawdropper secrets... But maybe I go too far into future? xD |

| So you saw all 543 without missing one? There are some earlier episodes I haven't seen. It is true the book he was reading is in French didn't notice that I don't know almost to nothing about drinks, maybe it is what they call bourbon on a rock or something. I cannot say for 100% that Subaru is from Black Organization I mean the author pull something like that making us believe Jodie and the other FBI agents were from the BO. |
| The bottle on Subaru's desk has a name that is typical of American bourbon. That's why, like GoMati, I'm a little suspicious that it is "too" obvious. But then, we've got to remember that this series is aimed at Japanese pre-teens, thus the kanji lessons, and so maybe we shouldn't be too "sophisticated" about the clues and red herrings... <g> BTW - yes, I have been watching the series since 1996 and I not only got to see all of the original broadcasts, but I also have all of the episodes on DVD, and even on Laser Discs! |
| I bet after four years, you guys all know Subaru's secret. Well I don't know if he could be the member Bourbon from the BO or not. I mean he drinks some alcoholic Bourbon stuff but that doesn't mean he is Bourbon. I wonder what his role will be about. I doubt he is a undercover cop, FBI or CIA agent but if he is not one of the bad guys, what is his role about? I have many theories like he is one of Yusakos friends or since he is so clever he will team up with Haibara to create an antidote for the APTX4869. It's really hard not to google detective Conan because I am afraid to see some spoilers I don't wanna see >_< |
| Turned pretty generic in the end. Leaving someone to die(who we hadn't heard of before IIRC which is actually new) and the guy was caught because of some evidence like that. He really couldn't wipe it off? The only evidence, he couldn't wipe it off. |

Well the case itself wasn't much. Mostly due to the big hint to the culprit's identity once again requiring knowing kanji. Even the secondary clue felt too esoteric to be of much help. The culprit's motivation felt more shoehorned in than usual too. I ended up feeling more sympathetic towards the victim despite her past transgression. At least the Okiya intrigue surrounding it was fun, and it was nice to see a culprit go down swinging again, this time by taking Ayumi hostage. It had been awhile. :D Is Haibara right to be so suspicious of Mr. Okiya? We'll see, but actions speak louder than words they say. ;)  |
