| Jiraiya is a pretty funny guy, but I figured something had to be up with him when he seemed to know a lot about the Nine Tail Fox and Orochimaru. I am surprised that it was already revealed he is a Sannin already. |

| Jiraiya is such a BRO lol. I was also pleasantly surprised that he was one of the legendary Sannin too. I'm starting to like Naruto a bit more now, he seems to be intent on learning the right way and is geniunely listening to his elders. His relationship with closet-pervert and open-pervert is really fun too :) |

| Yup the open pervert is called Jiraiya and not only that but he is another legendary Sannin. This is why I love this guy! He is like a grown version of Naruto with more wisdom (somewhat) xD. I like how the episode shows him knowing a lot of the seals, the one who sealed it and about Orochimaru. (well he has to know about Orochimaru after all they are (was for Orochimaru) sannin's. |

I can't decide whether I like or hate the decision for Jiraiya to come and teach Naruto instead. It seems to make the previous episode, where they try to justify that Ebisu is the best choice of a teacher for Naruto, useless. I also really hated the timing of his entrance, which came right after Ebisu was thinking highly or Naruto, making the viewer think that they were going to train and grow a strong bond together, but nope. That said, this episode was enjoyable and isn't making me too sad that I have to go through this training saga to get to the finals of the Chunin Exams. I understand what you're saying. I think Kakashi chose Ebisu because he felt he was skilled..however Jiraiya proved to be more skilled than Ebisu which is why Naruto sought him out to teach him instead. It may seem pointless but Ebisu's portion in training Naruto was very significant. Why? Because this anime is focused on the story of Naruto -- a boy who hardly anyone believes in -- achieving his dreams of becoming a Hokage and the best ninja around. Like many of the other characters in the series, Ebisu thought Naruto was an idiot who was incapable of doing much of anything. After seeing how much Naruto kept up with him during their little chase, Ebisu had a flashback of Konohamaru talking of how Naruto inspired him and Ebisu realizes how much Naruto has grown in strength. So while it may seem pointless that he was Kakashi's initial choice but it's all part of Naruto's character development throughout the series. Jiraiya also has a better understanding of the Nine Tailed Fox seal and how it's affected Naruto's chakras so it's why he is the better fit to train him. |
