I do not hold much knowledge about Marvel comics. I mainly got an overview of them through morning cartoons.

The Ironman trailer is awesome. I don't know the story of Ironmaiden (it was never a popular hero here) or the characters, but based off animation only that is totally amazing.

Wolverine... Well, back in my time he was a hairy beast in a yellow lycra uniform. And I loved him. Now he's a pretty boy. Which means that I can totally accept this new design. The animation is gorgeous as well.

If X-Men is as good as this... Omg. I've always loved it. With redone designs it can only be win.

Conclusion: looking forward

Iron Man looks okay, let's see what they will do with it, Wolverine just looks like a major a plane crash, they took away his manliness, most uncool, but I'll judge it after I see both. I hope they don't drag deadpool into this... An anime version of him would be something like Bo^7 or Excel saga, although I'm a fan of both series, I just want Deadpool to be like the comics, what they did in the movie was punishment enough.

I see that Iron Man has his own page here to add for "Plan to Watch", but Blade, X-Men, and Wolverine don't seem to. Or am I missing that? Anyone care to add them in?

Well ain't this interesting...

Hollywood goes on an anime-into-live-action-movie making spree, and the Japanese turning a bunch of American comic books/cartoons into anime. The two countries are really mixing media styles now more than ever aren't they? Whats next? A Ninja Turtles anime?...er, wait, thats already been done...

As for this new project between Marvel/Mad House.
I've never could get into American comic books, as far as I got was watching some of the films based on them (which I'll admit, I enjoyed watching them). I've always been a big fan of Mad House, and I think they have made some terrific manga-to-anime adaptations in the past. Plus, the action scenes in the previews look awsome (as expected from MH, you can at least count on them for great action scenes). Who knows, if these anime versions do well and if they end up getting alot of good reviews, I might give them a try.

I think they both look promising.
I can find room to accept a long-haired wolverine.

However, It does make we wonder, is this going to be voiced in japanese? I'm assuming so, right?

If it was in english i don't think i would watch : /

I'm guessing these Marvel/Madhouse anime will be done in Japanese first for the Japanese audience and then dubbed in English for a NA release. Unless they release them in both languages simultaneously. That doesn't happen too often though. Also, judging from the content they appear to be tailored to a Japanese audience. Marvel might be trying to break into the Japanese market maybe?

At least it looks like the characters are closer to the original concepts than the Japanese live action Spider-Man series by Toei was to the original Marvel concept. Very Japanese. Very weird. Apparently the first tokusatsu series to include monsters that change size and in which you then fought in your summoned mecha which influenced later series like the Power Rangers and such. Seeing Spider-Man pilot a mecha is very surreal.

For some reason its always funny to see people come to a conclusion that's already been stated clearly in a report somewhere. In hopes of being a little informative...

1.) For those who aren't aware, yes: They're trying to adapt Marvel properties SPECIFICALLY to appeal to Japanese audiences. Its a stated goal, so don't be shocked if things are set in Japan, and we don't have "Tony Stark" or "Logan" or whatever. I wouldn't be surprised if both became wholly Japanese characters, not just English superheroes who're adventuring in Japan for a few episodes. Think, "Witchblade".

2.) What's in the trailers has NOTHING to do with the actual plot. Granted, if you're pissed about the look well...I'm sorry. That's what we're expecting both series to look like, yes.

3.) Wolverine actually has a lot of stories involving him in Japan. Before they went overkill in the 90's with the berserker nonsense (getting rid of his nose and all that), Wolverine spent quite a bit of time in Japan, fighting ninja and being a samurai. So its not the departure you think it is.

4.) Series will be in Japanese, no word on if it will come over here at all. All the series will be written by Warren Ellis, creator of Transmet and Planetary for those who read comics, and writer of the G.I. Resolute series for those who don't.

What I DON'T know, however is if its still the plan to have X-Men and Blade launch Spring 2010.

...Why Blade? A black vampire hunter in Japan will look SO cool, right? Bah. They should've done a shonen-like Avengers...

Actually no.
We do know that Iron man is who he is, minus the facial hair.
We do know that Wolverine is Logan and that its going to be an adaptation of canon-true part about his stay in japan.

The times of Japanese audience and only-japanese characters have long since passed away.

Correct. As stated by quite a few people previously - the trailers are just random animation tests. Designs might be accurate, but everything else in trailers....stays in trailers...

Considering it was announced in comiccon, I am betting for a simultaneous release in both USA and Japan.

I couldn't agree more. In fact, I'd be really surprised if the Wolverine anime didn't focus on his time in Japan. It's such a prominent part of his character and has been heavily explored is his recent comics. As for Blade, the Japanese must have a fascination with him considering the "Raven" character from the Tekken series.

Sigh, there are better things to make into anime, Japan.
I suppose X-MEN isn't so bad, though.

Srsly though, one of the whole reasons I love manga so much on average more than American comics, is the lack of Hypermusiclar superheroes, in spandex outfits.

There are loads more interesting American comics to mess with than Superhero tripe.
X-Men isn't too great, and Blade is even more lame.

When asked what Marvel character would be awesome in an anime I would always respond "Blade". Hopefully Madhouse will be able to work their magic with him. I've never been interested in any vampire anime though. Blood... no thanks. Hellsing... was never really interested. Hoping Blade will be different from them.

Why does everyone have such a prob with the look of the anime Wolvi? It should be different, if it wasn't, it'd just be a re-hashed US toon. Ya'll are idiots, it looks awesome, and

If you know anything about wolverine, he lived in Japan for a while, had a Japanese wife, and they had a son...Daken. He trained under Chinese/Japanese masters, etc. etc. I think the choices for shows, looks, designs, etc. are perfect, just can't wait for the Blade/X-Men trailers!! Stop being so narrow minded about it, and don't watch it with preconceptions of what you think it should be. I mean come on, this is anime we're talking about here people, not Cartoons. I can't wait!!! Quit jumping on the bandwagon, and start thinking for yourselves!!! And this is coming from a Huge Marvel Comics/toons fan!! Urahara Out!!

Have you been to a comic store in the last couple of years? There are more non "Costume" books, than there are!! I read a ton of US comics(like atleast 15-20 a week), and 6 of them are "Costume" books. Check out DC's mature imprint Vertigo, I don't even think they have a superhero book in there whole line of like 30 comics. Same as a lot of other companies. Go do some research on comics before you run your mouth people, and I'm not just talking to you ukonkivi, I'm talking to all these bandwagoners hating on these adaptations. Sorry to rant, but I'm a big believe in International adaptations, and think the significant changes to the designs is wonderful!! Urahara Out!!

Although I'm not a fan of either Iron Man or X-men I'm definitely gonna check this out because it's MADHOUSE. Iron Man looks pretty boring though... Wolverine is awesome (and that's because he's NOT like the original).

I'm fine with it not being the same as the original, but if that's what they call a fight, then I can't imagine it actually being worth my time. Also not sure how I feel about them knocking 10-15 years off his apparent age, but that's a minor quibble.

its meant for Japanese audiences, so they set in Japan. the same way "The Magnificent Seven" was originally an Asian film and got remade as an American one.

First of all i agree that Wolverine looks interesting because it is different and there is a part of Wolverine's life that takes place in Japan. I mean read the comics. please.

then why not simply call it by some other name? There's no point in remaking a series if you can't stick to the original material. Sure the new fans may like it but it just ruins it for the old fans. This shouldn't even be called X-men anymore.

I'd be insulted but....

Your grammar is shit, you've got the typing skills of a twelve year old, and you crafted absolutely nothing in the way of an intelligent insult. Typing a string of swear words doesn't constitute a diss, and it really makes you look bad when you do all this but claim to have the ultimate in anime tastes.

Think about that next time you're watching your "innovative" anime like NGE, and next time try to know what the fuck you're talking about instead of just parroting whatever you hear the "cool anime kids" say.

(Although you know what..."japan jerk off faggot" is fucking hysterical. In a, "...Damn, I can't believe this guy is really smart enough to turn on a computer" sort of way, but, funny nonetheless.)

Edit: Thank you though. I didn't realize I'd rated Naruto so high. Should be a 7, not a 8.

Is Wolverine not apart of the X-Men anymore? Or am I understanding this wrong?

I mean I love the guy but good god. I'm get sick of them putting him on this pedestal when there are plenty of other mutants as great, if not greater than him. I wouldn't nearly mind so much if some of my other favorite guys got a chance in the spotlight (a decent Nightcrawler that appears for more than five seconds would make me a happy fangirl)(maybe ten seconds next time).

And I'm going to get flamed by the Wolverine fans. It's OK people. I love him too, but if you saw that trailer you could see why I'm not peeing my pants from joy.
