The first 2/3 of the episode cracked me up, but the ending was really sad. I hope they don't part even if it's for a couple of episodes only.

They both acted like morons. But the story is focused on Lawrence's point of view, and he accepts the blame for everything that happens in his life. That makes it's easy to neglect the fact that Horo is just as much of a "tawake" as he is :)

She's lucky that she's stumbled across a guy that lets her get away with everything, and she knows it. The consequences that build up from this are what makes their romance so interesting.

Oh the drama, seriously Lawrence should just have said something when she asked what she is to him, but I guess he was too shocked by her behaviour

Love Horo's inner mind theatre. <33

It's so melodramatic towards the end.

true... ;)

second season is a little bit more interesting than the first, so far considering only first episodes... i've planned to stop watching this for today, but... i guess it cannot be done, huh. let's just hope that i won't finish this series today by "just one more episode" syndrome xD

I'm definitely feeling worse for Lawrence. Poor guy can't ever catch a break... with anything, it seems. And Horo definitely jumped to too many conclusions at once. (In any case, even if a bear destroyed Yoitsu, she could have been positive and thought that her old friends or whoever survived and rebuilt it. But nooo, let's be optimistic and think it's all gone and somehow a bunch of blame gets dumped on Lawrence for no good reason...)

Good episode. Sad to see Horo in that state and Lawrence taking the brunt of it (and not comforting her, although i've been there and sometimes its best to say nothing at all).

From other comments:
-last of her kind?
We already know Horo isn't the last of the Wolf deities from the 1st season (second to last episode). And just because her village was destroyed doesn't mean that her entrie kind were destroyed with it. And it's unlikely she'll be seeking retribution considering this bear god could chase/destroy/kill an entire village of wolf gods, I doubt she could do it on her own

-And to the people saying she killed the other wolf deity in S1.
No, she didn't. She begged (on her knees, hence the mud on them) for the deity not to attack Lawrence, hence hurting her pride because she probably knew she couldn't guarantee his safety and she would do anything (including begging) to make sure he was safe. Which is probably why she got extremely angry when she saw him beatin', burned and cut and protecting her clothes in the last episode.

-Where in the first season (or previous S2 episodes) did i miss that Lawrence already knew about her village being destroyed?

maybe its the different subs, but sometimes i feel like i'm watching a different show than some of you.

Also, Lawrence has to say something when she's going apeshit about her village being destroyed. I'm getting sick of his "gasping" moments.

Oh? What subs are you watching with?

I don't think they mentioned that Lawrence knew about Yoitsu in the anime, not until it was required knowledge in this part of the story. But in the novels, I believe it was mentioned straight away the moment he meets Holo and she mentions her home is Yoitsu.

As for his "gasping" moments, it shouldn't be surprising given who he is, what he's just been through, and what he soon comes to realize. Besides, he's only been on the road with Holo for a month, tops.. it's not like he can change his personality that much in such a short time, any more than Holo can stop being what she is. The story's just at that "omg just get over yourselves" part right now :)

When I watched it the first time I remember thinking "man, if only they had stuff like manga back then these two might have a clue".

Wow Horo just lost it! What is more surprising is that she even considered the marriage proposal of the other guy...

Such a contrast, the festival and joyfulness of most of the episode to the sudden depressing mood of the end =/

Y-y-y-y-yeah, right. I never saw THIS coming. Up to Season 2 this anime was completely different, but now it's totally compensating for what it missed in the first one. I'm smelling a 10 here.

I expected Lawrence to have some difficulty on the case with Amarti but I didn't imagine nothing like this. Judging by the way Horo was treating Lawrence as a child to now, I'm really surprised to see her acting in such an immature way.

This season is totally ok with me, I'm getting all the drama and plot twists I wanted back in Season 1.

With Lawrence's overconfidence, I knew something would happen but this was crazy. I think Holo went off on a tangent with the whole baby thing so I'm hoping that was just a spur of the moment. Really crazy though.

5/5 - To the next episode!

Exactly, that's the perfect word for it. I'm hoping it was just a spur of the moment for her and not an actual plot development xD.

I was wondering the whole time why Lawrence wanted to hide the truth. Such a dumb move, was he afraid Horo would leave him? Horo's reaction was really good she lost a lot of trust in Lawrence and she seems to be reminded of something very unpleasant.

I want Lawrence and Horo to stay together but I don't see any reason to hate Amarty. He happened to find the opportunity to make enough money to free Horo by predicting the upcoming fall in supply and rise in demand of pyrite. His motivations don't seem shady and he seems to actually consider Horo just as much as Lawrence, though we don't know how he'd react to finding out the truth about Horo or if they get along that well a couple.

It's been established just how much of a softy Lawrence is. It's less that he's afraid that Holo will run, and more that he's afraid he won't be able to comfort her, which proves to be the case (though you have to admit, she brought it on herself).

As for Amarty, well, you'll see just how likable he really is soon enough..

The final scene between Lawrence and Holo seemed so human. The way both of them acted and reacted was consistent with both how their characters have acted to this point and how their characters would have acted in a comparable real-life scenario.

I can understand that Holo is upset right now knowing that her home might be destroyed but I still think she should not have treated Lawrence like that, I feel sorry for him. Of course for Lawrence if he had heard that story as a child, which is what I'm assuming based on those 2 short flashbacks so far, that he probably should have told Holo regardless of it making her feel bad. And as for the preview of the next episode...sigh...if Holo really kisses Amarty after all she has been through with Lawrence I think I will be very disappointed.

Why is Horo limited to human's?

What about a dog or wolf or even that giant wolf back in season 1.
Her kind still exist...
Are those wolves a different type (tribe) from Horo?

First half we see them getting closer. Lawrence had confidence that Holo would stay with him even after the deal was made.

However, now things are looking pretty bad again for him. My previous question was answered pretty quickly which was how would Holo react when she found out that Lawrence knew about her hometown the whole time. I'm a little surprised that Lawrence didn't immediately tell her his feelings but I guess he really is that sort of character. Holo understandably doesn't want to be alone - she was basically kicked out of the village she was helping for years with their harvest and now solely relies on Lawrence.

I am not liking what I saw in the preview!! If she kisses that kid before Lawrence I'm gonna be soo mad *end fanboy rant*

Aghhh. You've gotta be kidding. So much of misunderstanding in this episode.
And Horo's reaction was weird. But what can you expect from someone who lived so long in solitude.
And i don't like that kid he is to naive. Hope that Lawrence will find a way out of this mess.

HOT DAMN!

That was just ridiculous. Holo going crazy with those beautiful red eyes turning menacing. Jeez was that a crazy episode.

Are they ever going to give us a normal ending? Or all they all cliffhangers?

Holy shit, what the hell. Thing got down so fast. That preview scared the fuck out of me. Armathy better not kiss her that fucker >:(

So Holo did knew how to read. Why Lawrence didn't answer her? Why didn't he just tell her that he care about her? She just fear to be alone... Goddammit Lawrence, you fucked up on that one. Not only that, but Armathy took a big advance with that pyrite deal.

But yeah, Holo was really harsh after all Lawrence did and sacrificed for her.

He should really obliged to comfort her, even if it's some temporary relief for her sake. I was in tears when she broke down. I hope things will improve.

But he did try. Then she started asking questions that even the smoothest of guys would struggle to answer, especially guys who don't want to take advantage of the girl in question. When he didn't immediately answer in just the right way, she began verbally attacking him without giving him a chance to answer at all.

This is a guy whose confidence is at an all time low. He nearly went bankrupt a week ago, and when he needed her the most she turned around and left him on his own (because she was too angry he had just slapped her hand). And not one week later, when he hadn't immediately rebounded from nearly going bankrupt, she emasculated him for it ("why are you selling nails?")

All things considered she did this to herself (she even guilt-tripped him into leaving the letter behind after lying about reading). Besides, if she couldn't run after him the moment he left the room, then I can't be upset about him not immediately knowing what to do right away.
