People just don't tend to dig deeper to the why. Justin Beiber sucks for any sane person, but to the teenage girls that make up majority of his fanbase, popularity= quality. Same for crap like Twilight. To any true literature enthusiast, it is crap. To the horny women who purchase it, popularity= quality. Popularity viewed in terms of the target demographic is a pretty good indicator of whether you will like something or not.....like pedos and loli/shota crap. As for your second point, if you haven't heard of them, you can't enjoy them, so still it benefits you nothing. I'd rather not wade through tons of crap to find something I'll just give an above average score. |
