I think Ufotable has changed the way people look at anime like a lot. Ever since Fate/Zero came out, it just seems that it just changed people's perspectives at animation forever. Now people just want god tier animation like what Ufotable does, otherwise, they'll call it mid or garbage for no reason, even though the animation doesn't even look bad at all. Anyone else think Ufotable changed people's perspectives on anime somewhat, cause I know they are some which will watch Demon Slayer for the animation rather than story.

Yes it has made people confuse chromatic aberration and depth of field with animation.

@KanekiKen523 Kara no Kyoukai is set in the fate universe, and demon slayer looks especially ugly to me

Nope.

I do not expect god-tier animation from every show. It's more of a bonus reward for me that I'm blessed with, than a standard I hold. However, I do expect shows to have decent art and animation where it isn't just stills and bad proportions.

I think it made the newer anime watchers have higher expectations in animation quality but for the veterans, nope.

No. Swap "Ufotable" with "Demon Slayer" in the sentence and it would've been more relevant.

Shaft changed my perspective in animation forever. Quality animation is always appreciated, and so are other things like story, character, directing and so on. But nowadays, people tend to like pretty looking things rather than substance. So maybe it has impacted anime.

@mhasanjoy True people think a good adaptation is all about good animations/ soundtrack now-a-days. Nobody cares about directing , story etc . I dont think either of Kny is an S tier adaptation or anything, because i dont look forward to any scene in the manga other than fights.

Ufotable? No, they are a passable studio at best. They gave us Coyote Ragtime Show, so that is a plus, but they butchered Gyo.

Did anime airing on television in the 2000s shape my view? Yes. Studios like Sunrise and Madhouse shaped what I thought was good animation and writing.

No. I don't like their style. Too much 3DCG and flashy CGI effects. It doesn't look any good for me. Not my cup of tea.

@Pages_Pages the CGI actually kinda fits the fish.
But like in Fate and Demon slayer they just have a bland CGI background and then put flashing lights in front of it.
This is their only anime where you can actually properly see what's going on.
And even with the CG it has a nice aesthetic to it just overall.

I don't think so myself. LIke any other studio they have their good and bad anime. But there are plenty of other studios who are at LEAST as good, if not better. KyoAni, A-1/CloverLeaf, Bigwest, the list goes on. Honestly I was more favorably impacted by KyoAni with Violet Evergarden and Hibike! Euphonium, but I will give Ufo props for Demon Slayer. That one is aces on the line all the way.

I would say Coyote Ragtime Show is their best (though I know that it is quite obscure nowadays), but I can definitely see what you are saying. They did try, just the CGI aged like a fine glass of milk in my book.

@Pages_Pages it has it's charm. And even then it was the one show I actually enjoyed. I rather watch good shows with bad CG than the other way around.

The only problem with this thinking is a lot of key animators working on their most popular franchises have worked on countless other projects for other studios too. You take away those guys and fill them with Animators not so experienced and you got yourself a mid "Demon Slayer" Anime. lol

If anything that has changed the industry sees how a franchise can be extremely successful when they over staff the studio with experienced Artists that have worked on countless of other projects even if the Anime they are tasked to work on has a pretty meek premise. The thing is not every project can have the luxury to be over staffed like this all the time.

They kinda did, now people think being overcharged with digital effect spam is the greatest thing you can do with animation which is absolutely wrong. The fact so many people consider Ufotable the best animation studio has always been so weird to me, they are by no means bad, but they are just good when they actually put into their animation and not just on their layers upon layers of digital effects.

People prioritize elements of entertainment differently. Some anime fans want to see striking visuals, especially for action-oriented series; other fans want to witness masterful storytelling, particularly when that is the focus; and there are many other things people will seek out (voice acting, soundtracks, et cetera). It's very presumptuous to assume that, because one studio does a specific task well, it will change perspectives. In fact, to change someone's mind about anything that they have strong feelings for is a very tall order. Anyone who says stuff like this must be new to the scene.

At best, they raised the game of the visual and art side. Besides that, probably no.

Yes, it caused people to think that putting colors and lights everywhere = "excellent animation", whike making shows that have actual fantastic animation like My Dress Up Darling, Akebi-chan, and Chainsaw Man get passed down as being "inferior" by ignorant people.

I was about to mention something along this line about this specific title too but one would likely be hard pressed to find even a semi-casual fan of "Demon Slayer" to invest their time to actually watch something like "Coyote Ragtime Show" in it's entirety.

Even something like "Dokkoida?!" that I genuinely enjoyed watching didn't have remotely the packed staff working on it compared to their more contemporary franchises and it shows.

Nobody is concerned about animation that much other than ufotable fanboys. Arguably they're as annoying as MAPPA fans.

But to answer your question, no. I don't see a lot of people expecting ufotable-level of animation in every series. On the contrary, ufotable is expected to always deliver the same high quality of animation with every series they are or will produce in the future.

I'd say that they changed anime in the way Mappa or any other studio that puts decent effort into the animation of fight scenes does.
That is, if you even watch anime for the animation quality (not everyone does).
