The second part was the best of the three because it was the most focused on characterization and drama, as well as the better paced, even adapting the Red Cliff battle.

This one tries to combine all the action from the first and the characterization of the second, as a result you have two very well fleshed out characters but the rest are not on par with them. As for the plot, it's ok, but just like the first movie, has too many events and battles to show, going through them in kind of a hurry. As a whole it was a decent trilogy but not much more.

I have finished watching the 1st and 2nd movies some time ago. It took me a long time to finally continue with the 3rd movie to finish the trilogy mainly because the movies are super long and I needed more free time to see the full film.

So this is where this trilogy ends. I know nothing about Records of the Three Kingdoms before I started any of these movies. Now that I've finished Part 3, I gotta say that I'm quite saddened with the fate of the main protagonists. I never expected that most of them would....die before achieving their goals and dreams. The 2nd film was the longest out of the three and it was really really good. Never imagined that their army would suffer tragic losses and defeats in the final film to close out the trilogy.

I'm impressed with the amount of hand-drawn fight animations in each of these movies. Countless animations of soldiers riding horses as they fight in a brutal battle on land. Also impressed with the hand-drawn animation for the battles at sea, with all the ships and arrow shots. Since all three of these films are over 2 hours long, they've done an impressive job of completing this massive movie project during the 90's.

Still saddened about the loss of our main protagonists. We've witnessed their journey from the beginning all the way to their rise in power, up until their downfall, defeat, and their final moments... The only final remaining survivor whom I liked among all these characters is the Princess, Fengji. She will continue to live on the rest of her life peacefully teaching and educating children. As she rides her horse and running away in the sunset, the ending song plays in the background but it was truly a sad song. The sad song hits hard, knowing that our heroes are gone without even witnessing the end of the war that they've been fighting for.

I'm stating my feedback as someone who has never read or know nothing about Records of the Three Kingdoms but I'm only writing my own thoughts as someone who has only watched all three of these movies. Really good stuff.
