THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Damn, you know business gets serious when the government gets involved. Ruri wants to protect her new friend so it's understandable she will do anything to help her. This episode was alright although a bit tense. Ruri's personality showed a lot this episode. The action was also quite explosive. A pretty decent episode imo with the amount of content. |

All this talk to save her and in the end she gets killed by something completely different. Well at least she proved herself to be harmless to others. Now the big question is will Riri be able to handle the loss of her friend and how will it effect her next combat? |

Wut I didn't expect Yuri to die like that... that's pretty sad especially because of all of what Riri said previously in the episode :( at this point we can expect Riri to be depressed for the rest of the show, she already started to cry |

The talk of Yuri from just a purely school aspect to a government aspect, something's definitely not right. And Riri fighting to save her from any harmful use is the perfect adage of "the mother hen protecting her child (of a Huge test subject human)". Last episode's reveal of Kaede's father being Grand Guignol's CHARM weapon maker (not to mention a government official) and being convinced by his daughter for dissuasion tactics, and even with the "Garden" Academy principal (and Moyu)'s verbal arguments against the whims of the government to capture and retain their only living test subject, that will count as a huge boost to stop more young Lily mindless sacrifices. Simply put, government agencies are heavily one-sided bias. Even then, the Hitosuyanagi Legion stands together as one (which is great), and another Huge to counter with Yuri taking first aim and really going out with a bang a.k.a what a "great" way to kill off such a "plot device" character. Riri is paying a huge price for this: the loss of a loved one, and what will be the aftermath of this nightmare, it'd be interesting to see. |

RIP Yuri, you will be honored. You're more human than those government officers. This episode is like a rollercoaster with happiness in the beginning then more and more intense part, and then a very sad ending. |

Being Meguca Lily is suffering. Damn it feels sad, but she was able to prove herself in the end. She was too young to understand the meaning of life and death, and a bit inexperienced too. I don't know if she's dead or alive, but she was a great fighter, and Shaft did justice with animation. Get well soon Riri. |

Riri cut Yuri bangs. Yurigaoka academy forced to capture and arrested Yuri, based on foolish government request. Those men had no heart, even had a disgusting jealousy against a superpower girls. Wtf? They even launched a bunch of tanks to dealt with one little girl? Its very ridiculous xd. Gladly, Moyu was super cool on these episode, by using her own research to shut their fucking crap. Even all of Yurigaoka girls had the same thought too. Its official, Yuri was a human. However, dang! I thought they had a happiness at the end. Even the ed sequence showed how Yuri dissappeared from my sight. Sad, Riri, sad for me too. Cursed you, plot decision! Well, idk if somehow Yuri came back in the next episode, or something similar, so .... Well, the route of sadness seemed to be the real deal for this show, after what happened with Yuyu's arc. Its happening again on this one, as how the Huge experimentation dealt with a nicely impact for my feeling. So, i must be pretty much prepare for any worst aspect that happened at the rest of the show episodes. Okay, lets continued the ride! |

I can't believe Yuri died. She ended up killing the Huge but still, that was a sad way to go. :( Are they going to bring her back??? It's going to take a lot of time to make Riri happy again. |

Okay not just the thighs but the plot thickens. It looks like the government ain't taking our Yuri nicely and wants her to be taken into GEHENA custody, which our Riri and the squad will not approve. It was really maddening on how these government junkies is biased in their claims that Yuri is a HUGE, thank Cruschness that Moyu came in for the save by proving she is indeed a Lily. Even other Gardens had been disturbed but there's nothing to worry about all along. Yuri came out clean and Riri will not get arrested, okay time to wrap up- (Yuri proceeds to single-handedly fight a very strong HUGE and a nest that suddenly appeared nearby). Damn Yuri is so strong but...but...she got taken away by the explosion, oh no. I didn't believe that she died, she had just proved herself a worthy girl, why did you take her away so early! That last scene was really sad...and Riri was just cutting Yuri's hair earlier, that is tough. Another ending song is featured for the show, and it really hits different. May you come back to us please, it was just too damn early. |

I don't think Yuri is dead. This is our first chance of seeing her in live combat and she was displaying the rare skills her other teammates had, which surprised all of them. I feel like she'll come back but as an enemy in Lunatic Trance form? |

I hope Yuri’s not dead, she is one of the best girls(the other one is obviously Miliam). Yuri sacrificed herself to kill the Huge, seeing Riri like that was really sad. |

I feel like she'll come back but as an enemy in Lunatic Trance form? She kinda died close to a massive source of mana, whereas Moyu-san said that Yuri's Huge genes "died" when Yuri became human. If the genes didn't die fully but instead went dormant, or if Yuri had some sort of hidden Huge part that might go "survival mode", your theory is correct. |

welp, my prediction more or less came true (and it all happened in just this one episode too!) Some forced drama being developed here. I mean, considering Yuri is an artificial/created Lily despite being made from Huge cells and seeing how they say Huge cells contain genetic info for every life form, we could technically say that she is a human and a Lily as well. So the academy could have just protected her in the first place though it probably might not have stopped the unethical research company from trying to claim her back... Anyways, we had so many Lilies just hanging around (they came to help out Yuri and Riri at first) yet when the "Huge nobody else could seemingly beat" appeared, everyone just stood there (with one Lily giving orders to retreat) watching the show of Yuri diving head-first to solo against that Huge... That said, it's possible Yuri is still alive. Her Charm is still more or less in one piece after all. Maybe she'll show up (with the Chairman of Yurigaoka) in these last few episodes to fight against another "overpowered Huge" or a swarm of Huge so many that they would overwhelm all the Lilies in the school (possibly also with other schools coming together to help out)... I mean, we got a couple seconds showing how Yuri seems to be able to use the Rare Skills of everyone she got close to, hard to imagine we would be shown something this balance breaking only for it to last a couple of seconds in this episode... Then again, with this anime that mashes together all the concepts of almost very other "cute girls fighting otherworldly enemies", you never know what to expect. But I'm fairly confident Yuri is alive. Perhaps Riri's Rare Skill is the same as Yuri's, capable of using Rare Skills of everyone she gets close to. |

svet said: welp, my prediction more or less came true (and it all happened in just this one episode too!) The major point is not that she is genetically similar or not, but there's a law that recognizes artificially derived Lilies as humans too, most probably because such experiments were conducted in past. The second major point is that her huge-derived genes had lost its function so she can't be treated as huge. So, the fact she is a human and not huge, makes their claim valid and not the genetically similar claim. For example, you can't pick a random person from terrorist camps and claim his innocence just by saying your genome is 99.9% similar. You'll have to prove that he's a human (which is easy since we have no artificial beings) and that he's not a terrorist. And to make it clear, the Huge had its power source in the middle of ocean far away, and Lilies don't have wings. You can't make it run out of power by without attacking its power source. Yuri literally became Jesus and did a Naruto run on water to get close and do a powerful attack. And ofcourse they didn't reach out to help simply because that they couldn't (Lilies are not Jesus and don't have wings, Yuri combined two Rare skills to run on water). Even Riri couldn't but she's known for doing dumb things (like mother like daughter). So, I don't think Riri can use Rare skills of everyone she gets close to. Even I think Yuri's alive, but she might not come back human, I guess. |

Wow, after all that to recognize Yuri as a human girl, she goes off on her own and dies with the huge she killed? Damn that hurt, poor Riri and she was only just getting to know the girl better as well. Honestly hope this wasn't the end for Yuri :( It was quite the surprise for Yuri to use the rare skill of others though, hopefully they will elaborate on that next week. Made me curious what is up with that. Kaede has her priorities straight.. Legion > Family |

Daamn, all that trouble to save her but Yuri still died at the end. :( She went out like a champ though, the HUGE with linked mana source was probably the most OP thing that appeared so far and it could have easily nuked everyone from far away all day if she didn't rush there to kill it. The nest still remains though so that might become a problem again eventually. |

What was this episode? How many rushed plot beats stuffed into it? How long was the audience supposed to linger on each one? Was the 'death' even supposed to be emotional? Pure exposition dump more than once in the same episode? Absolutely no build-up to any of the beats at all? Very bad and powerful people: 'Yuri is a Huge!' High school aged teenager: 'No, she isn't because biology, motherfucker.' Very bad and powerful people: 'Understandable, have a nice day.' Yuri: 'Am I a Huge? Does this mean I'm a baddie?' Riri: 'No, you are not.' Others: 'No, you are not.' Yuri: 'I see. Guess I'll die or not die and expect the audience to feel anything for it after this shitshow of an episode and knowing me very superficially for almost three episodes.' All still considering how much time was wasted on nothing for episodes on end? It absolutely shows how much of a 'glorified' (if one can even call it that at this point) toy ad this is. Is everyone going to keep pretending this was a completely reasonable and decently written episode? |

Even I think Yuri's alive, but she might not come back human, I guess. Sorry but your explanation isn't helping much. From your viewpoint, it might make sense, but it just doesn't to me, especially the innocent terrorist example. I wasn't even going into whether Yuri was innocent or not. (not to start an argument here or anything; just prefacing this in case you think I 'm trying to start a fight here) The major point here is this: the rhetoric that the academy exists to protect all Lilies has been shoved down our throats since the beginning, especially throughout the previous episode. The fact remains that the Acting Chairman and student council at first considers her an "artifical" Lily but then considers her a Huge. Note the term Lily in "artificial Lily". If we are calling her that, then surely they (the academy, not the government) could have considered her a Lily whether or not she was born from Huge cells. As for the second part of your comment, Lilies may not be Jesus but they possess this power called "Magie", which Huge are made of as well and is what seems to allow them to float on water and stuff. Keep in mind that Lilies are able to jump over long distances (seen from previous battles) and as illustrated in this episode by Riri, are able to step on water using Magie. Don't forget that there are all other sorts of Lilies present when the Huge appeared. The way Yuri defeated the Huge is by smashing the receivers (probably Charms of dead Lilies) floating around that Huge to cut it off from the Nest's unlimited power supply. As I just said, there are all kinds of Lilies there, so surely there would be more than enough who have some sniping Rare Skill similar to YuJia's to work together to destroy those receivers? Lastly, about why I think Riri could be able to use the Rare Skills of everyone, similar to Yuri: Yuri seems to be born after resonating with Riri's Magie. Also, the analysis of Yuri showed that she had the same Magie values as Riri. Finally, we still don't really know what Riri's Rare Skill Charisma does yet (they said its a supportive skill for teamwork but then claim that it's still under investigation). Anyways, she's the MC of the show after all so it's hard to imagine that her Rare Skill doesn't involve something as balance breaking as Yuri's. |

bruh..they did us dirty was thinking this is getting awfully serious in the but thankfully it didn't turn into a war due to some simple logic but then they stripped away that hope of her making it ,i still dont 100% buy it since there's still more that needs to be explained about yuri she seemed mad strong taking everyone's skills and even used Heavenly Bladewing (tales game) |

She's definitely alive, but i think she wont be the same person as before same as for Riri...these organizations are clerarly hiding something and there might be some new underground plots coming by like they made the Huge on some kind of experiment on the past that could have went wrong, Im happy to see new Lilly from others schools and that some of then even considers that something is not right afar from the main characters that to me further increases the depth of the show by expandind the universe and that the chase after Riri as not just from the school side but governant itself who can mobilze more ressources. The way Riri is personaily wise and also the show itself kind of resemlble me from Toji no Miko(Katana Maindens) Lillys helping each others and not just following the one in command orders make me think if the plot for this will make simililar path in some aspects im hyped for see it :) |

The Gardens have the legal right to protect Lilies (even the Artificial ones, and here artificial means Humans boosted with Magie). The acting chairman didn't change his stand, he wanted to shelter Yuri before and they want to shelter her now. But after the reports produced by organization GEHENA, the academy loses the basis of protecting her since the reports claim she's a huge. Now the academy cannot protect Yuri without breaking the law, until they prove she's not a huge, which they did eventually. What the academy considers means nothing if they cannot prove it with facts and data. The academy doesn't have absolute autonomy here, and has to follow government orders. Regarding Magie, Lilies have limited supply of it. And they can't use it to stay afloat. The huge stay afloat because of their particular shape (and probably large legs or tentacles), pretty sure the Magie plays not role in that. Also, there's a limit to how far Lilies can jump. For example, in Episode 6, the distance between them and Huge was smaller and they had the high ground, which increases the jump distance. Jumping uses Magie, and jumping continuously uses even more Magie (you can see Riri making so much effort). You can even hear them saying doing that will deplete her of Magie quicker. What you're seeing is not floating over water but skipping over water (using Magie as soon as the feet touch the water to give an upthrust, but that requires a lot of Magie since water is not a hard surface), similar to how a stone skips over water. Yuri is able to do it better since she's combing two rare skills: Shukuchi (Compressed Space / Rapid movement) and Phase Transcendence (compress Magie energy and concentrate it, giving near infinite energy). You can check it here. That not only enabled her to move faster over water and dodge Huge's attacks, but also cut through its attacks and defenses. You can only defeat near unlimited energy with another near unlimited energy, so a sniper would fail. Other Lilies had fallen back to come with a strategy, seeing the Huge had an unlimited Magie supply. It looked like cutting Huge's power supply was a piece of cake, but in actual she was using Phase Transcendence to do that. It was a suicide mission by Yuri, and Riri would have died had she not drowned. Regarding Riri, it could be true. But she has not shown that skill, even when Yuri's life was in danger. If that didn't make her realize her rare skill, I don't know what will. It's gonna be something amazing for sure, but it being the same as Yuri's is less likely now. |

The acting chairman did indeed change his stand. It was simply a matter of perspectives here. You can claim the data shows her as a Huge yet at the same time call her an Artificial Lily with the subtext being made from Huge. So it was based on how you choose to view it. That is just how I'm seeing it though. No point arguing about this any further. Here's an example: a car assembled in America using parts from China (or other countries). Do you consider this car an American product or a China product? Regarding Magie, I know that Lilies have a limited supply of it. Whether or not they can use it to stay afloat may just be a matter of efficient use of energy. Pretty sure Huge stay afloat because of Magie... It sure seems like they are levitating... Not sure why you are explaining the using Magie to skip on water part when I wasn't touching on it at all. Please read what I wrote carefully. The Huge received the unlimited energy from the Nest. What Yuri was destroying were the receivers that were used to receive the energy from Nest before going for the main body. The receivers did not appear to be protected with any kind of barrier. My point still stands that everyone could have worked together despite the limited time with some going for distracting it in case it tries to fire that atmosphere destroying attack. There were all kinds of Lilies there, so sniping the receivers which were not protected with barriers is possible. The "suicide mission" was totally unnecessary. |

The acting chairman explained to Yuyu that he has do this to protect the lilies in the academy. One mistake and the Lilies can be treated as threat to humanity. Even in the meeting he refers them as two fugitive girls, while the others called them a girl and a huge. So, it's clear what's the stand of chairman and why he was doing what he was doing. You can see it anyway you want to though. And yeah, pretty sure the large sea animals like whale and warships (or submarines) use Magie to stay afloat, not because they are adapted or designed that way. And no matter how you see it, but Huge had an unlimited supply of Magie, which means the receivers too, had an unlimited supply of Magie to protect themselves and initiate counter attacks (which they did, and you can see some kind of Magie barrier around those receivers). In fact, the combined beam was so powerful that a normal huge would have run out of Magie after the first attack. The way I see it, the receivers had enough power to protect themselves from normal attacks. I touched the skipping on water to imply that Lilies can't technically walk on water, or float. Not saying the Lilies couldn't do it with combined effort, but that need a strategy and plan. Also, they couldn't do it as fast as Yuri did (Shukuchi skill is as fast as instant teleportation). Maybe she smelled the danger, or maybe she wanted to prove herself, or she was too young to understand the meaning of life and death (her only emotion is smelling). The point is she did it quick and prevented potential damage. I can say that a lot of Lilies would have died before they could successfully bring that Huge down. The only 3 people there who would throw their lives without a single thought were Yuri (who doesn't know anything and has 0 combat experience except the huge must be stopped at any cost), Riri (who's known for doing bizzare things), and Yuyu (in her Lunatic Trancer mode). |

Pretty sure Huge stay afloat because of Magie... It sure seems like they are levitating... Not sure why you are explaining the using Magie to skip on water part when I wasn't touching on it at all. The acting chairman had a neutral stand, viewing the situation objectively initially. Acting on the basis of wjther one is a Lily or not. Only after meeting with Yuyu, and subsequent discontent by the students did he change his stance and sided with the girls. At least, that is how it seems to me. yeah, I didn't say that the Huge couldn't be floating, simply that I assume they are levitating due to Magie. No need to be so condescending/sarcastic there. And those "barriers" seem to just be magic circles for aesthetic purposes (you know, like those you often see in anime with magic involved), you can interpret it however you want though. Come on, really? I guess we can discuss about what might have been the possible outcomes if they had worked together or not, whether sacrifices would be made or not, and this would never end. The point remains that Yuri's "sacrifice" could have been avoided and it's done here just for some added drama/feels. |

Maybe if the story has alternate timelines like Re:Zero or Madoka Magica, she might probably be alive and things would go exactly as you described. But it's part of the current plot, and there's no obvious flaw in that. What's shown is entirely possible with current plot. And sorry for the sarcasm, consider me a friend arguing with you. |

Kaede deserves some big respect, as she had her priorities spot on by backing her legion over her father during their call between each other. Same with Moyu, too. As the poor chairman had to deal with the sleazy government officials with their arrogant attitudes, Moyu came in to stomp them speechless with facts and logic. =3 Still, after everything that happened to make sure that Yuri and Riri wouldn't get into trouble for running away, a colossal HUGE appeared in the ocean, backed by a massive nest which gave it an unlimited amount of magie to start shooting beams at the academy. Yuri single-handedly took the HUGE down in such an impressive style, but it also seems like she's now either MIA or dead. Her weapon washed up onto the beach, badly damaged, which made for a sad scene with Riri clutching it while crying. Poor girl. =( To round off this great episode, we had another new ED, but since it was mainly focused on Yuri, along with the other girls of the academy it felt really depressing at the same time. Seeing you bring up Madoka and timelines made me realise that is another way the series could end up going. Totally slipped my mind since I was firmly believing that Yuri is still alive (more or less). |

Totally slipped my mind since I was firmly believing that Yuri is still alive (more or less). I just want her to be alive so badly. They put so much focus on her in these last 3 episodes, added her to ED, gave her action scenes so much budget, only to kill her now. I was sure no one was going to die, but here we are. But the mystery around Riri's rare skill gives some hope. |

No no no fuck no. She can't be dead right but, that ED she got dusted at the end of the ED fuck. Though worst case is she's still alive but, her Huge genes awakened and she'd turn into a mindless huge fuck. Hopefully that's not the case. I think Riri's rare skill was definitely the reason Yuri woke up or got activated as they said they were defective or something but, when Riri touched her pod thing she woke up. So, hopefully her rare skill can save Yuri. Really liked Moyu frying those government fuckers though. Great episode looking forward to the next one. |

I'm reading the comments here, am just going no. The "death" was forced, and, if anything, it is leading to Yuri liking returning as the final villain of the plot, which hopefully ends in 3 episodes. This anime has been all over the place with no real flow to the plot. The insanely high number of girls feels just like a cash grab for waifus (if you can even call them that, since most of the art of the girls are just young looking) for the game, and the anime, despite being a shaft production, feels very slipshod, and poor by their usual standards. |
