An extra episode has already been announced to come with the 7th volume. Since it will fill the void of the 14th episode on the BD/DVD, I hope it will be some type of sequel, and not just some random beach(lol) episode.

Obligatory 10 from another Keyfag.
The beginning was kind of boring, but I couldn't wait for the next ep once it got going. There is one thing I'm wondering about. How did Kanade stay in the world for such a long time if she died after Otonashi? Otonashi must have taken the long road there.

1.Did Otonashi stay in the afterlife? or move on?

Otonashi moved on as was evidenced by his reincarnated self meeting up with Kanade's reincarnation.

Overall, this ending was pretty good and quite sentimental. I wonder if we'll see an influx of organ donors in Japan because they might think they'll meet a cute girl like Kanade in the afterlife ^_^

8/10 from me.

It's over. ;_;

I was really disappointed that only 5 people actually were there for the graduation. I was really looking forward to most of the characters being there and graduating/disappearing at the same time. And we never got to find out the past of most characters. D:

The tofu song made me laugh.

From the part where Yuri read her diploma, I was constantly crying. And right before Yuri disappeared, and was talking to Kanade... if only they could have been friends longer.

And when Kanade told him that she was the one who received his heart, that part was touching. (At first I thought she was going to say that she was his dead sister lol)

Watching the ED, seeing everyone disappear... ;-; I love how they added Kanade in though. And when only Otanashi was left, I was holding my breath that he would disappear. I'm glad he did, because being all alone in that world would suck.

And they meet again after being reincarnated ;u;

This series has a ton of flaws, but I enjoyed every minute of it. It was the show I looked forward to watching the most every week. So 9/10

Now to look forward to the new GirlsDemo CD and the OST.

I wasn't sure if I was crying or laughing, never felt this before

Some episodes were bad, but overall it was good. Fuck those who seek more explanation, you need some interpretation to understand angel beats, that's all. Otonashi was just like the programmer from episode 12, a 'bug' to this world who would find help the world with his distinct way of thinking due to amnesia, he also found love on this world and was left alone, but unlike the programmer he eventually moved on too and was able to meet kanade

Just what the hell 13 episodes can make to a person...

Man that was a good ending, sad at the same time
but in the preview where they show kanade and Otonashi looks like the started to live a peace life in a new world.

The whole series was really enjoyable, but I wished that it would go up to 24 episodes. I wanted to see how the SSS Group formed and more stories. The ending wasn't what I expected for, but it was kinda sad that everyone left. Overall score 10/10.

Personally i thought this was great, i don't really see anything unresolved and to me its more a case of the soul being reborn years later and meeting each other again by chance, the last few episodes seemed to rush the story along a little to its end but i loved the whole graduation at the end and it reminded me of Clannad so much, i really wasn't expecting the last part whereby Tachibana tell's him she has his heart beating in her chest and that he saved her life by filling out the donor card during his memory episode.

All in all i thought it was actually a credit to Key overal but my major issue with all the Key titles is they are too short and its a shame to ever see any of them end :)

It.. wasn't as good as I hoped.

Okay, we have a ceremony. The anthem was cute, but where are all of our favorite side-characters? Hmm...?

All of a sudden, Yuri, Tenshi and the rest of the gang have completely different personalities, Yuri is now BAM! suddenly friends with Tenshi? Okay, they should have prolonged the relationship change between those two. Pretty disappointed in that factor.

Cliff-hanger-ish ending; I didn't like that. At all.

Oh, and no kissing with Tenshi x Yuzuru. Yeah, because we all didn't want any of that , eh guys? Not. I wanted some, anyways.
I'm pretty disappointed. I thought it would be so much better then this.

Still, I started crying when Naoi Ayato did. I'm attached to his character. I don';t know why :/

Anyways... fine episode. Not the finale I was hoping for.

First of all I have to say that I really liked this Anime (9/10) until I saw this last episode. It was just awful.

It seem that the first part was made because they didn't know how to waste the time they had, and then we suddenly see the farewells, that were colder than Santa's house (I don't mind if Yuzuru was crying or not, I didn't feel bad for him, and I thought Yuri was the main character but she only said "goodbye" and left as if she wasn't important). Besides, all the characters didn't act like themselves at all. (for instance, Kanade was too much happy. I like the cold Kanade better)

The end was slightly better, but I noticed that I had wasted my time uselessly watching 23 minutes of this episode because it was all explained at the very end. I hate that. There are too many questions unanswered.

The only part I liked was when Kanade said that she was alive thanks to Otonashi's heart.

This was a really good ending. Don't understand what everyone's confused about. There are things that are implied, they don't have to specifically say it.

Like in the ending song. The screen usually starts with noone and builds up as characters appear. But in this final ending the characters disappear leaving only kanade and otonashi. Kanade disappears and is followed by otonashi soon after.

There were some plot holes, but not everything needs to be explained.
Overall, Angel Beats was a great anime with a nice blend of comedy and drama. Every episode was interesting and fun to watch. The animation was fluid and the soundtrack superb.

It was really sweet how Kanade was the girl who received Otonashi's heart.

i loved it overall but as stated b4 it had many flaws and though it was touching ending was just poorly done. either a well developed OVA or some form of a season 2 would be awesome. only other thing that i wished they included TK in the graduation. would love to seem him do one more of his dance plus do his random line of the episode b4 he left. that would of added so much to the episode XD overall 8 out of 10 for the episode not too bad but not as good as it could be.

I wish they would have cut some of the filler episodes and devoted 1-2 more episodes to the ending. I especially would have liked more time spent after everyone leaves except Kanade and Yuzuru. It would have been really nice to show him disappearing instead of just ending it and then showing 5 seconds of (i assume) his reincarnated self noticing her.

I liked the reveal with her being the girl who got his heart. I'd assume when she was young she got his heart and was able to live a while because of it even though she has some terminal condition. The talk about him giving her her youth (something like that) kind of pointed to her not being able to live at all if she hadn't got the heart transplant.

Still though, it does make me wonder why she didn't tell him since she apparently found out during the first episode of the series. Although if they both disappeared in the first episode, it would have kind of killed the show i suppose...

Overall i liked it, but ending felt rushed and there were some questions left unanswered. Specifically, who was the person who made the shadow program to turn himself in to an npc? They rescued that other guy, so i assume they could wake him up too.

Graduation, the last episode of Angel Beats, I wonder how this is going to-

Fuck you Hinata! If you aren't going to take this seriously, I'm not!

Though for the most part, it's touching in a way. All this time they've been fighting to stay alive, but now, they finally came to gripes on how pointless it was and decided to move on.
Shame most of the side-characters disappeared off-screen with no backstory, so what could have been a great finale just turns 'good' because of all the wasted potiential.

And then, there was two..

Well, this came off as bittersweet, I guess this finale wasn't too bad after all, I mean, Jun Maeda-

Without any real explaination, they are all alive?
I just.......... huh?

This ends without any real conflict or resolution! And better yet! Explaination! So they were in a coma the entire time? What was the point of the school? Why did Naoi and Kanade have powers in the afterlife?
I WAS ASTROBASE BEFORE YOU EVEN!

You didnt get it.
After you disapear you are reborn.
Most of the things Yuri said at the begining of the series was later found out as false.
This was a great ending to a great series, the only thing missing is how everybody deasapear.

What are you looking at?

Pretty lame episode if you ask me. Seeing Yuri and Kanade act so different is ridiculous. I'll give Yuri the benefit of the doubt, since I'll assume her intractable bitchiness was there to mask her own pain, but there's very little reason for Kanade to have made such a weird turn. Seeing her hide behind Yuri was just a what-the-fuck moment, along with her weird laughs, and almost every action during the ceremony. Also, why is Kanade at limbo before Otonashi if she died after him? That's all I really care to say about the episode itself.

I'll say it again, if Maeda meant for this show to be a comedy, then this was an abject failure. The show was consumed with melodrama and random plot twists, only using comedy to lighten the mood every now and then. But not good comedy. Terrible comedy. Repetitive comedy. Uninspired comedy.

3/10.

Like stated before, the biggest mistake made while producing Angel Beats! was the 13 episodes. Now that we've all seen the end, I think it's pretty safe to say that I speak for most of the people here if I say that Angel Beats! could've been much better if we had another 13 episodes, what's the point in having ~10 characters that are all semi important if you're just gonna let them disappear off screen?
Why does Yui get her 24 minutes of fame, while Yuri gets literally 15 seconds.
Why don't we get to know anything from Kanede's past, other than that she needed a new heart? AND WHY THE FUCK DO WE NOT KNOW MORE ABOUT TK?

I think we all expected too much from the final episode, hoped that it'd turn out to be one awesome ending, but were just too many questions for one episode.

Damn you and your 13 episodes

This almost felt like trolling and I might have preferred a summary ep. Am I the only one who felt that half of the characters were really... out of character this last ep?

Anyway, how they absolutely failed to make me tear up or even care about the many things left unexplained, shows how much of a failure this was. Very weak 6/10.

Edit: Lowered to 5/10. Without trying to sound like a prick I feel most of you have never seen actually good anime

At first I was really, really disappointed that my favourite character ( Noda ) didn't get a finale, but I guess it was sort of to be expected with them rushing such a short series.

That's the only reason I was disappointed, because I know I'll get to know the characters' backstories in the light novels as they're released. Well, I hope so, anyway. The light novels are a huge reason why I'm so in love with Oyama, too.

This series really did need to be 26 episodes long and not 13, but that doesn't make it a terrible series. Far from it. I loved it.

You're under the weird assumption that any character besides Kanade, Otonashi, and Yuri were important. They weren't. You can make an argument for Hinata and Naoi, but no one else was important. They were re-spawning meat shields of archetypes only necessary for either giving a sense of the setting or comedy. Nothing else. They were all embarrassingly one-dimensional, and only TK managed to be funny every now and then. Just because you like them doesn't mean they're important to the plot.

And that's why this trainwreck of a show didn't need 13 more episodes. It probably would have been a decent 6 episode OVA, though.

Just finished watching the series, and it was absolutely beautiful. As expected from Key, awesome series with the usual kick to the balls every now and then (Iwasawa, Hinata...denied, Naoi, etc). Too bad it was only 13 eps, even though it seemed like a decent length, could have dragged a tiny bit, no? :3 Anyways, enjoyed it a lot, and greatly looking forward to their next project, whatever it may be...

I enjoyed the entire series a lot.
Some questions were unanswered, but they weren't really important. I not really bothered how all the characters died or what it was in life that made it unfulfilling blahblahblah. Besides, it may be expanded upon anyway.

It certainly wasn't confusing, pretty simple, really. If you're confused, then you have a problem ~__~

Kamiya Hiroshi's performance was outstanding, as usual.

Just wild guessing here, but judging by his situation and reaction at the end, would it be plausible to think that Otonashi is indeed the creator of this world as explained in episode 12? Since I don't think time really matters in that world (or logic), it might just be the case.

Overall, the series wasn't as great as the potential called for or what I was expecting especially since the writer was Jun Maeda himself. Nonetheless, I think the last moments of the show was handled better than earlier works (slightly), so gotta give credit for that I guess. I'll give it an 8/10. Better than Air, but still much weaker than other Key stories.

Now, I can't find "Ichiban no Takaramono" anywhere and that's awful! D8

Meh, the first part of the episode was so stupid, the random comedy wasn't even funny and the graduation part was so annoying and pointless. the second part was OK I guess, the ending was predictable though.

I started with a 9/10 , after watching all the 12 episodes I must give it 6/10 and I think I'm generous with this score.

Problem with the show : not enough episodes, the story seems random because of the "plot holes".

The highlight for me was ;
- hearing Otonashi calling Hinata by his full name.
- The Kanade/Yuri hug.
- Hinata.. <33
- Naoi's goodbye. (bawl moment ;_;)
- "Ichiban no Takaramono"

I really do love the show, but.. we didn't get to say goodbye to the other characters.. ;;

I know that many people hate this series, but I can't do anything but give it a 10. This was one of the best shows in the last years imo.

(Btw I know that there were some plot holes, but I could still enjoy the series fully, that's why I give it a 10. It left me with a feeling in my stomach, that can only be caused by great stories)

^^This, except I gave it a 8 and I'm being generous because of the ending and TK. Still good but many flaws. It will be missed by me though.

I know when I, like many, said it should have been 24 episode I really meant it. I know that Maeda has issues but I don't think this could have been done that with that many other directors. It just seems unfair that Maeda had all these plans for the show but had to have it cut for whatever reason and explain the rest in supplemental material.

Oh well, as for the episode itself, Yuri acting girlish was a big WTF and the graduation ceremony was interesting (lol Mapo tofu song), but I wasn't being grabbed. I figured they were going to go out like this with nothing more than a wimper of little comedy and sad goodbyes. However....oh geez, I don't think I'll ever doubt KEY again. They just had to throw in that little plot twist that I honestly should have seen coming. Kamiya Hiroshi did a fantastic job here voice wise and ended on such a bittersweet note that I just could not really think negatively of it. A really flawed anime that needed to be longer but it kept me coming every week to it.

Also TK. TK was awesome. I liked TK

(And seriously, why are they still alive at the end?)

I put the 'semi' in 'semi important' there for a reason. No, they're not important like Kanade or Yuri. Those 'questions' in my post were all aimed at Angel Beats' biggest (imo) flaw. It wasn't about how much I liked those supporting characters, it was supposed to criticize how a supporting character like Yui pretty much got a whole episode dedicated to her past, and her disappearance. Yuri disappeared in ~15 seconds and we haven't learned anything about Kanade's past. Poor time allocation if you ask me, especially in an anime with only 13 episodes.

I loved the episode till the last 5 mins or so, it would have been such a more emotional ending if Otonashi and Kanade had stayed together in the other world, plus it feels that extra information of Kanade with Otonashis heart while impactful still a little over the top. I dont know probably cause while Otonashi was saying his love towards Kanade and she disappeared even I felt a little choked up. And again like everyone, this coudlve easily been an amazing 24 eps with better character backgrounds and removing that stupid ghost npc episode.

I know the final scene was supposed to be a saving grace to be a happy ending with her humming and him reaching for her, but still my lasting image of this series will be Otonashi crying over Kanade's disappearance.

HAHAHA, OH WOW. That was one of the most impressively crappy, forced shit I've seen in a long time. I could not give a single fuck to what was going on. Maeda didn't even try for this series to be pretentious deepness to cover up the flaws but just a whole load of derp.
