Well it doesn't seem to be an remake from the classic, just another adaptation, but still hype because the story is good.

Instant 'Plan to watch'. I'm currently watching the original, was thinking - "why there is no newer adaptation" - boom - MAL notification.

I find it very hard to believe that it'll even come close to the OG for background art alone. Also it would need to be a long adaptation just like the OG cause otherwise why do this adaptation?

Any idea what this is about? I was planning to start the 1979 version soon, so seeing a notification for this new entry really caught me off guard.

By the way, since I’m here, do I need to watch the 2009 adaptation before diving into the 1979 one?

I really hope WMT type adaptations get revitalized. As far as wholesome shows go, I actually prefer WMT to Ghibli & Disney.

Start with Akage no Anne 1979 Episode 1

7:30 pm Sunday January 7 1979

Anne of Green Gables/ Akage no Anne is the adaptation of Lucy Montgomery's original 1908 book Anne of Green Gables.

Before Green Gables is the 2009 adaptation of the 2008 book by Budge Wilson who is not the Original Creator

If you watch the 2009 series first you are watching a story written 100 years after the original story by some one who wasn't even alive during the era in which Anne exists.

The original story is written by some one who was alive at the exact same time the character she created was living. The world building and historical accuracy is so accurate.

Start with Lucy Montgomery's story. Everything is based on this.

What's it about?

Japanese: Akage no Anne

Life isn’t easy for Anne Shirley, an 11-year-old orphan with a vast imagination and a short temper.

In a twist of fate, she gets taken into the Cuthbert house in Avonlea.

The elderly occupants Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert were looking for a young boy to help in the fields, but they’re in for quite a shock when they realize Anne is a girl.

Adapted from the acclaimed classic by L. M. Montgomery, Akage no Anne portrays Anne’s upbringing from 11 to 17 years of age and her encounters and separations with various people.

Only time will tell what major decision Anne has to make that will change her life forever.

That is all that any one needs to know before watching the first episode.

Watch the English Dub which has English voice actors for the Englsih Empire based story.

The story is set at the time Canada was still a part of the British Empire. The voice actors in the English Dub were mostly born during the time of the British Empire.

They really bring their characters to life.

It has to be one of the best news this year. It made me so happy!! 😊❤️❤️
I love the Anne's books, and I watched some episodes of the old anime, so it's guaranteed that I'm going to see the new one, in April!
I can't wait for it!
