For me that anime is Golden Kamuy. Idk if I was just not in the mood for it or if I was just lazy, but honestly this show is now one of my all time favorites. I remember watching the first episode when it first came out years ago, but I sorta forgot about it. Then a few months back I decided to pick it up again by pure chance and finished all four seasons in like 3 days.

Just two, really: Maria-sama ga Miteru and Nodame Cantable.

I'd been in a long romcom phase (late 2014 - early 2015) and was beginning to scrape the bottom of the romcom barrel. Nodame had a good score but the cover looked boring and classical music was a meh thing for me (Nodame changed that attitude fast). But eventually I did cue it up and promptly kicked myself for passing over it having suffering through some miserable titles instead of it.

Maria-sama was around the same time -- near the end of my romcom phase. I didn't even know what shoujo-ai was (since replaced by "Girls Love" tag). Well, to this day it's still the most consequential anime event for me. After Marimite I devoured every GL anime I could find and when I ran out of the "good" (and some mid ones) I went looking for GL manga (up until then I'd barely touched manga at all -- I had my hands full just with anime).

Honorable mentions for Seirei no Moribito, Mushishi, Tatami Galaxy. All great shows which I should've got to much, much sooner but it's not like they're the only ones: yet to see the likes of FMA:B, Code Geass, Houseki no Kuni, Nichijou, Kingdom and several Studio Ghibli's.

The vast majority of the Macross franchise :( The first I saw of Macross was the franken-anime optimistically called Robotech (and now more comonly known as Robotrash). I'd heard that Harmony Gold had basically rescued a failing anime and brought it to the West; it would be another 33 years before I learned the truth of the matter and discovered how much I'd missed. After seeing an AMV made with UTA Macross on YouTube and learning that it came from Macross Delta, and after getting over the shcok of learning Macross was in fact very much still alive, my daughter and I started bingeing the entire franchise like crazy. Now we're waiting for the next installment to come out, whenever that will be...

Stardust Crusaders OVA version as i know a friend who had it but he always refused to play it because blonde haired Joseph pissed him off & the only reason he didn't sell them was because of being sought after by fellow JOJO fans

Inuyasha. After watching it at the beginning of this year, I would really like to rewatch it in the future, but this time with the german dub. This might be nearly impossible if I don't have the DVDs for it, which are quite expensive (7 boxes for 35€ - 45€ each). I know that Inuyasha has been broadcasted in Germany many years ago with the german dub, so I had to watch it back then. Sadly I wasn't interested enough in watching it and was watching either Pokemon or a few episodes of Detective Conan.

For me its code geass, the anime was on my plan to watch list for a year or two and even after hearing so many good things about it I would still decide not to watch it and that's because of the art style. One day I decided to watch it and it ended up in my 10 top anime.

None, because I can't be sure I would have enjoyed these anime as much as I did if I watched them at a earlier point in my life.

The Vampire Princess Miyu anime...
@tchitchouan I almost started watching this last night. Ended up starting Madoka Magica, another anime that I've been meaning to watch for years.

@Horizon248 It's a pretty great Dark Shoujo, follows a monster of the week formula and miyu is surprisingly cruel and compassionate.

@tchitchouan I'm gonna move it up on my priority list. Certainly seems like something that I'd like.

Almost all but Naruto, Captain Tsubasa, and Hataraku Maou-sama (The only 3 (non-children) anime I watched before COVID-19).

But mostly, No Game No Life, Bleach, Re:ZERO, and Your Lie In April.

I should have watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica sooner. The first time I watched it was on Netflix around 2018.

Come to think of it, I don't remember this happening to me. But I did make an effort to systematically go through every anime in existence and check out all the ones that seemed even mildly interesting.

There are about 300 anime on my to watch list and some of them have been there for many years, so it is possible I eventually find something I regret not watching earlier.

If it's good, why would I regret not watching it sooner? I want to unwatch the good stuff so I can watch it again fresh.
