If the Witch Cult has this much power cant they simply take over the world pretty much ... i mean they conquered a supposadly big heavily guarded city within 15 minutes ... i mean arent this warriors supposed to be like the cream of the crop the strongest in the world ? If they deal no damage to small fry of the witch cult how are they supposed to even pretend to win against archbishops ... plus apparently dragon sin is immortal or something, unless red hair dude carries they gonna get destroyed easily

Nonononononono, why is she naked? I can’t handle this someone please tell me Emilia doesn’t get/wasn’t violated. I don’t care about spoilers please just tell me, I can’t emotionally handle this she is a precious innocent girl and the whole point of the series is she needs to make it out unscathed.

Subaru looked like a grown up, trying to calm down Garf, but then 1 minute later he can't hold his hissy pissy down bc he saw gluttony, what a hypocrite, also why did he need to hold Crusch on the magic elevator? She seems to be able to hold her own.
Good episode though, not sure why the 2 masked archbishop were masked though, maybe author didn't have their designs yet when this arc was coming out in the LN.

@SteelingMax Lots of bs spouted, especially the last sentence which is absolutely braindead. But I don't expect any better in MAL forums, so lets ignore that.

Subaru didn't want to teach Garf a lesson, he just was there for Garf and wanted to stage a trap for Capella, but no one was there to calm him immediately against Roy. He was reasonably calm tho.

Crusch has acrophobia.

I foresee nothing but shit from now on, a lot of bad things will happen... But we will also have a lot of fights, that's good. What could be their reason for wanting the remains of that witch? To chaos? Resurrect her?

@Laplace_kun 1- When was Crusch's phobia ever mentioned?
2- Never said Subaru was trying to teach Garf a lesson
3- he wasn't reasonably calm and there were two people with him.
4- Braindead? it was just a guess, stuff like this happens constantly, where you have to introduce or tease a character or skill but the designs aren't 100% ready yet, so you show them only in silloute or give them a temporary costume to cover it.

Awesome episode. I love how the dragon isn't CGI, white fox puts a lot of effort into their animation. I'm gonna assume the entire point of the group trying to recapture the tower is to prevent wrath from speaking into there because she could get everyone into a trance and kill everyone.

1. Anime didn't mention it, but hinted it during the White Whale fight and here when Crusch just glomped Subaru when he asked to hold tight.

anyway I thought you'd figure out the main reason behind Subaru taking her with him by now. Memories gone. Talented, strong and skilled - but experience negligible. In this situation, Subaru is the fastest thinker.

2. Then you couldn't call Subaru a hypocrite. Because he wasn't teaching Garfiel to be calm.

3. Ever heard of revenge? Garf was affected more by Capella's words. Subaru was waiting for a long time to meet Glutonny. At the end he didn't fall for any taunt, he's taking a step. And we didn't even see events like him charging blindly, so false accusation from your side. He's angry, definitely.

Also, two people were with him, but did they do what Subaru did to Capella within the episode?

4. Kinda braindead, because:

4.1. You are assuming both of them are archbishops, then making the conjecture.

4.2. If they are cult members, then letting them give away their masks is like asking a priest to dump his cassock in a church

4.3. This arc has been written years ago, if the author had such issues, the anime adaptation would have figured that out by now.

4.4. Re:Zero having mystery elements already provided previous examples of intentional unrevealing of face.

Why do you expect Subaru to be calm when Gluttony is the one who took rem from him? You really expect him to be reasonably calm when the person who caused him a lot of pain and suffering is right there and only he remembers her. Also Subaru didn't charge at him, he wanted to prevent Garf from doing at on his own because he could hurt himself badly.

@Laplace_kun 1- do you even keep a phobia if you suffer from memory loss? what you wrote later adds nothing to the discussion
2- you might not know the definition of hypocrisy
3- almost frothing at the mouth like Subaru is doing and charging like Garf tried to, is a very thin line to go over
4- every strong character shown as part of the witch cult were archbishops so far, also never said they should reveal themselves, their faces are most likely hidden for shock reasons, eventhough we're basically told who the woman is already, sometimes preliminary designs are carried through adaptations

@SteelingMax let's see... 1 is almost a vague question thrown at me, 2 is the usual "you don't know" jibe, 3 is a typical exaggeration for staying stubborn, 4 is just beating a dead horse.

1. Yes, if the source of phobia is not strictly related to past trauma. What I added later actually adds to the discussion because you said "Crusch can hold her own".

2. Hypocrisy: behavior that doesn't match a person's claimed opinions or moral standards. [Oxford advanced] Here Subaru expressed no opinion nor is he setting a standard.

3. Garf literally was launching in response to a verbal taunt from a person who did'nt even harm Mimi. Subaru was unleashing his anger and determination at the cause of one of his biggest source of losses.

4. Then it was your assumption and speculation issue? Knocking straight on the author's door on first opportunity feels irrational. Even with the knowledge of a possible "shock reason", you work with the least probable variables.

@Violet_KFY
The witch cult follows the gospel. They don't care about conquering cities or the world or ruling anything really. As we have seen with Sirius and Regulus, they don't even like their fellow Archbishops or working together - they reluctantly do if the Gospel tells them so. They also don't care about "destroying" anyone or anything. They are not mere tools of destruction, they have their own (deranged, twisted) agenda and that does not revolve around killing anyone they come across.
They do as the gospel demands of them, for reasons unknown, for goals unknown. Like, they might want to revive the Witch of Envy - but that might have only been Betelgeuse for all we really know about them.

Reinhardt certainly is a powerhouse, but he is not omnipotent. If any watergate is opened, the city will be flooded and everyone will drown. So him being sidelined for the moment instead of engaging and enraging the archbishops is actually a good thing.

What's so wrong about @SteelingMax 's point 4? We're talking about a show that tries to hide the fact that the Archbishop of Greed is in the city (in episode 1) by **not drawing his eyes**.

Point number 4 is not fucking moronic. You and Laplace_Kun are just a bunch of sourcerers who can't keep information you've learnt from outside the anime to yourself.

Archbishops are coming out the wazoo. Why can't there be two guys who are Archbishops but the author hasn't come up with a name and face for?

@Alternate_Wraph why would that be their first thought tho and not something like idk the author is deliberately concealing their identity? And not because he hasn't come up with a name or face, it's just part of the mystery. And also, for your point about the eyes, which you also mentioned in another topic, that's another level of moronic if you seriously think the animators "forgot to draw the eyes". It's a visual direction choice, not ignorance on the part of the animators.

Subaru didn't need to hold Crusch. He just wanted to look cool, as evidenced by him trying his damndest to not scream in pain apon sticking the landing.

Last time I checked, there weren't any characters that we knew of who had 6 blue arms. So yeah, I'm going to assume they are completely new characters.

As for your "It's a visual direction choice"
It is a stupid visual direction choice.
And also, for your point about the eyes

You have not addressed the point I made about the eyes this thread, as my point is completely different.

There I was complaining about the show being misleading (and obtuse).

Here I'm talking about how a show that is going *Teehee, that's not actually Regulus. The real Regulas has eyes* is perfectly capable of introducing non-characters behind masks, with the intent on making them characters later.

I guess those two could have been Rachin's former companions, but that just seems too implausible to consider.

Might be just a memory hole but as a WN/LN reader I feel like this is the first time I've ever heard of Divine Protections being brought up in the anime adaptation of R:Z, it just seemed really sudden and mildly shoehorned in to me. Just wondering if there is a moment in s1/s2 where they are explained, because I was wondering why they were brought up as
is a plot point that, through some rewriting and omission, could still make perfect sense, though maybe a bit incongruous; at the same time though some other story beats just would feel too contrived unless the system of DP's was established previously. ( i.e

@QuoteMAL wdym, DPs were already established in the anime since season 1, specifically the end with Otto. Additionally, Otto's DP got further context in season 2 and Garf's was introduced as well in the same season.
