saw this ending coming a mile away since the plot drop. dna is only credible as evidence when you have a near 100 percent match. aqua forgetting forensics 101 as there is such things as relatives and of course adultery as its believed 1 in 15 children are not the biological offspring of the father in an claimed "monogomous" relationship. the only way to insure some random kid's testimony is to test the rest of his "fathers" family.

(Anime only here)

Oh they better not be keeping us waiting for S3 for too long or I'm going to srsly loose my shit!
I know that we have still two episodes remaining but this is one of those harsh moments where we need to swallow the bitter pill and acknowledge that the end of S2 is almost upon us!

Another hard and heavy hitter with this episode. We get some lovey dovey comic relief from Kana, which is always nice to see and I, for one, think that she would be a way better fit for Aqua and I'm team Kana all the way. Akane just seems like the perfect fit for Aqua but Kana is probably much better for him because she's quite the opposite from Aqua's (and Akane's) doom and gloom and better suited to break him out of that hellhole of his own making.

Still...Akane was srsly cooking and with this episode she's entering a truly pivotal role in the story. I just hope she doesn't keep her theories to herself for too long. My gawd that girl is so smart, it never ceases to amaze me!

Oshi No Ko has been one of the very few anime in which I can almost never predict what's right beyond the next corner (although I saw it coming and just knew that daddy dearest is still very much alive and kicking). Be it a plot twist, amazing acting or stunning visuals! Coincidentally, another one of those goated series being Death Note, can you imagine? (rhetorical question, ofc you can!)

Funny thing is that it just happens that I've been rewatching Death Note as of late and hearing that they cast Miyano was a big surprise. And that voice at the end scene gave even my bones the freakin' chills. The dude is goated. Smooth criminal all the way, am I right?

To be honest I guess I don't really understand what Akane realized. Considering that Taiki and Aqua are half siblings that would mean that there is one common parent between the two. And seeing as how Aqua is 100% Ai's son that only leaves the father to be the one relating the two. So does that mean that Taiki's father isn't really his father? Does that mean that the man at the end is also Taikis father? Unless Ai went and had another child with some other dude bringing forth Taiki then the only way would be that Taiki didn't actually know for sure that that even was his father. Because it seems the only thing connecting Taiki and Aqua would be the father so they must have the same dad. Which should be the man at the end right? Idk if there are anymore panels yet to help explain this or maybe I'm just restarted, can someone please explain this to me as it seems I'm having great difficulty.

This was an easy 10/10 episode!

Actual father makes an appearance at the end! I thought he'd be some gloomy guy but seems bubbly.

Aqua made a rather stupid assumption it seems. He assumed that the double-suicide guy had to be the father, when it's perfectly possible the woman cheated with another man, meaning the actual father can be alive.
Guess Aqua isn't smart/paranoid enough or something? Initially I thought he gave up too quickly.

Given how smart she is, at this point Akane should be 99% convinced Aqua is indeed Ai's child.

I kind of expected Aqua was going to tell Akane about Ai and reincarnation lol, at the bridge. Guess it's too soon.

@mislojr2000 You are correct. Taiki and Aqua have the same father. Aqua made a fatal mistake though. He assumed that the double-suicide guy had to be the father. With the reveal of real father though (at the end), now it's clear that the blonde guy is the real father of Aqua and Taiki. Meaning Taiki's mom cheated and the guy from the photo is irrelevant.

I'll be the first to admit, when this season kept going through the theater arc, I started to think that it was going to be a bit of a slump, but honestly now we are SO BACK, BABY. I'm loving this so much it keeps me on my toes. Are our main two no the only ones who've been reincarnated? If not how does she know? What does she know? And WHO ARE YOU MR. MAN AT THE END??
Hello from whatever year I left this comment in! It's funny, we're separated by so many years, and yet we're both enjoying the same media...

@Sigmar-Unberogen right that’s what I thought but how did akane realize this as a possibility it seems like she knows for sure but from what aqua explained it’s odd that she just instantly knew that’s not his real dad

@mislojr2000 I know, Akane is depicted as some super capable detective. Like, she instantly realized there was that possibility, which is crazy. IMO her character is a bit too absurd (like how she deciphered Ai to begin with). No, I don't think she knew the person Aqua's talking about wasn't Aqua's real father. Her genius brain simply deducted that there's a possibility that there's another (or maybe several more!) people who can be Aqua's actual dad (depending on how many men Taiki's mom had). Basically, Akane isn't sure if Aqua found his real dad or not, she however knows that Aqua CAN be wrong and Taiki's mom could've cheated with another men, meaning his (and Taiki's) father can be someone else.

When the music change at akane, omg so intense scene. Like when you meet nemesis in RE 3.
You know when a man tell his story in girl, he's considers her as friend. Sorry Akane, Arima still is the best and she will win.

@Nepgear2206 I think by loophole is that akane realised that the person whom aqua think is his father is not actually his father because she realised the possibility that probably himekawa's mother cheated on his husband and the results was himekawa born and the person with whom himekawa's mom cheated her husband, is the man that made Ai pregnant.
@SabreDrago Ahhh i see, that was different from my hypothesis. I'm very similar to Aqua personality wise and I DEFINITELY did not believe his half-brother when he said that they both died murder-suicide style. I study psychology in my free time and there is NO WAY that if their father was the same person commit suicide because Aqua's father is too narcissistic to do something like that. If he doesn't know Aqua is on his tail and wants revenge, he would think he can get away with that and anything else. It can also be speculated that the murder (in his half-brother's case) would be the father killing mother because they "did it before". That was the loophole I found.

@Sigmar-Unberogen Yeah Akane has shown time and time again that she is smart and a protege. I don't think coming up with an alternate theory was too much of a highball from her other accomplishments (Ai impersonation, stealing the show in Tokyo Blade, discovering Ai and Aqua's connection, noticing Aqua's subtle manipulation.)

Basically Taiki’s mother cheated and had an affair with Aqua’s father who was also the person who appeared at the end

This show is anime of the year. I'm rarely ever checking the website every day hoping a week has passed already for the latest episode. Haven't read the manga so I don't know what the true pacing of the series is, but so far kudos to the show for being able pace multiple plot points at once without making me lose interest in one or the other.

but thinking about it now.. maybe Aqua should've had installed spy camera around Ai grave long time ago?:D

How did Akane get on it so fast, while he didn't since he is a doctor :D

Both both reactions of Kana and little less by Akane were kinda too much.. like too hyped? too emotional every few seconds while going into wrong conclusions ? but that talk with Akane about sex was way better :D

Well anyway Kana will be ultra mad when Akane will go on the trip with them :D

(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ ちゅっ ちゅっ キス (´。✪ω✪。`)

I hate it when anime/manga that I enjoyed ends, especially when there could be much longer plot and when I love main heroine :P

I wish I had magic glasses that let me see real world in anime colors ;)

Solid episode. I'm honestly shocked there are people out there that thought the random dead dude from last episode was actually the father. I thought the bait for the real father would be the cliffhanger for the end of this season but there's two more episodes to go. I don't think the Tokyo Blade stuff was a total waste of time but it definitely derailed the much much more compelling murder mystery part of the show and I'm not sure yet if it will actually really pay off in a way that justified half a season of build up.

Aqua's line about girls using that stupid dots filter (sticker?) on their face hit the mark. I eventually realized its a thing that women do for women but I do think it makes photos look like shit and there are probably some women that don't realize that (and whatever, maybe they don't care).

Translating Akane's line about being fine with doing "ecchi" stuff with Aqua as "having sex" felt a bit amateurish. Yeah the characters are older than the typical 14-16 year-olds in a lot of anime but that felt a bit too direct for what she actually said. Especially since she deflects Aqua's question with 'I'm clueless about that stuff! I've never dated a guy before, after all"

Arima was so happy to go on "date" with Aqua meanwhile Aqua "breaking" up with Akane.
However Akane knew the loophole on Aqua's investigation on his father.
Even crazier that Ruby's father appeared towards the end of the episode.

I had a feeling that the guy that had died that Aqua thought was his biological father was indeed not him and it was finally confirmed in this episode because that would've been a very anticlimactic ending and also because I noticed that both parents did not have a similar hair color like Aqua but the new guy does. I'll admit that I hadn't considered that Aqua's half brother's mom had cheated with the same guy that got Ai pregnant so while they're still half brothers it's not from the guy that died.

With Akane having realized that too (although I'm assuming she doesn't know who his real father is) I hope she tells Aqua sooner rather than later about that loophole. Besides, by her telling him that I think they can keep their relationship going longer and perhaps it could blossom into a legitimate one which I believe Akane is seeking.
