Agree. This show fell hard.

The drama concerning the student presidency is so overblown it feels like an episode of house of cards whit WW3 stakes.
I love that in the last episode they "plan" stuff while throwing in lines " Yes we do it like this"., "Maybe we a bit more like that" cause the author cannot bother to actually think of a strategy and it's left to us to believe they actually have a plan.

And ofc the end result was just a boring debate with no actual masterplans that would amaze anyone. It was just "hey look , the current president was a dweeb but worked hard and so can we! "

W/e , i give up.
This show can go to the trashbin alongside so many others

Lol that's the typical "stupid author writes smart characters" syndrome

This anime went from great to mid; literally just keep the romcom aspects and it would continue being a 9/10. Now im debating to drop my score to a 7/10

It's the same for me right now as it was at the start. I would rather watch something with a plot even if it's not that great than the "wacky comedy" you are talking about. Because that "wacky comedy" was never that much funny. It was pretty obvious looking at the trailer that it's a not a story with a unique plot. It has the same old formula with the only difference is that the mc is not an idiot. That's it.

If the anime was all about the "wacky comedy" it would've gotten boring after 3 episodes.
It's kinda your problem that your expectations were wrong.

My countryman speaking facts, FR.

That's right. It's a YOU problem, if anything. As an LN reader, I'm quite content with the anime adaptation. For those of you guys who are in it for fanservice, a HEAP of it is coming up in the next episode - I would even daresay that Episode 5 pales in comparison to it, so rejoice.

I agree, I think the whole student council "Drama" was really unnecessary. This anime would have benefited MASSIVELY if it was just a funny harem anime. It had that vibe going for it the first 4 episodes, but now it's trying to be "serious"

It's quite boring, honestly.
I was expecting some highjinx here and there with misunderstandings and rivalries as its backdrop, and sometimes some emotional scenes to reinforce some character development since all the players have been introduced but here we are listening to a lecture to why it's important for a student council should remain autonomous and free from faculty intervention.

the problem I have with this anime is that I don't empathize with any of the protagonists, Kuze is the typical perfect character with nothing characteristic and Alya is just a typical Tsundere (who speaks Russian) who acts without any clear reason (I hope she doesn't become a princess who expects Kuze to solve all her problems), I think that if the protagonists were others (Kaguya/Shirogane, Sakuta/Mai, Gojo/Marin or even this season Nukumizu/Anna) that is to say characters with much more chemistry between them and that could make heavier themes like the student council fun and interesting.

It went down because it became your typical romcom anime. Only the Ep 1 and 2 are great because of the fanservice. Now that they nerf the fanservice and pantsu shots, this anime is now nothing special. The only good about it is the amazing visuals.

Currently after ep8, I scored it 7/10. +2 total score only because of how good ending songs is. Infact, its the only thing I am looking forward now.

Personally, the whole hiding her real feelings in Russian gimmick was the worst part of the series, and nearly made me drop it at episode 1. So I'm glad it hasn't been as big of a focus, and it's alright when they do use it from time to time.

I will say though, that the chemistry between the mc and female lead is one of the worst I've seen from a romcom and is probably part of why the series feels like it's dropping off. With most other romcoms the chemistry is at least decent so each episode is somewhat enjoyable just based off that. But this show has to rely on side characters (or really any moment the main duo isn't on the screen) which makes the viewing experience clunky because you can't reliably expect each episode to be interesting.

Komi-san was stretched out wayyyyy too much for a rom-com series the concept of komi to begin with was handled badly cuz even tho she had social anxiety issues she had no trouble making friends everyday lol whereas dangers in my heart had started out generic but what differentiated it from other rom-coms was that Ichikawa and Anna’s relationship was developing every single episode from s1 so the build-up to the confession in the end of s2 did not happen magically as we got to see them go through the process hence making it worthwhile to invest our time and efforts into seeing them grow and as for Nagatoro I couldn’t get into the trope of “I tease you bcoz I secretly love you” so yea not my cup of tea.

It's a light novel. It'd be more surprising if it wasn't the typical "MC hides his powerlevel and is secretly a chad" trope. Got also very turned off from the show at episode 6 when it became clear what's going on. Also, as you say, the plotline with the student council is uninteresting and I was more interested in Yuki trolling Alya and Kuze.

@DragyG From the looks of things, almost everyone is hating on ๅฐบใฎไธ‚ใ‚“๏พ‰ใ‚Šไน‡ๅฐบไน‡ but you and me. It seems that they were all expecting it only to be a heartwarming romcom with no real plot progression or character development. Perhaps that is why the rating, which used to be neck and neck with the LN, is going down on an almost day-to-day basis. It's a shame that people only want immediate results and not the journey that comes with it.

I actually said it in a post weeks ago at the time I was saying episode 6 (which revealed to actually be episode 8) will be Roshidere's big challenge since it does something no rom coms had ever done (in animes).

Seems like Roshidere didn't pass the test on MAL (or that MAL didn't pass Roshidere's test) of going away from what usual rom coms do.

People were expecting Roshidere to be brainless comedy with lot of gags and maybe a bit of romance. It's also how the anime was advertised (and how the novel still is advertised) and what it proposed in it's first episodes : banter + banter + banter + banter.

Roshidere's bait for a greater story is also it's biggest flaw and weakness. Roshidere isn't what it seems to be and when it seems like something made for braindead people and those braindead people actually watch that's what happens.

The anime is good, the story is good, the adaptation is good and I'm a fan of Roshidere. Like Amano Ririsa would say: "I love the anime. I love the novel, I love the cast and I love those silly jokes, I'm a Roshidere fan". However I can understand why people suddenly start to hate that anime that wasn't tailored for them and worst of all that baited them. What is happening to the rating is Roshidere's fault and was expected, if you ask me.

Just take a look at the top rom coms. You got mostly braindead comedy with sometimes maybe some flowers if you are lucky enough

Just take a look at those people talking about the 'elections arc'. I mean that's not an arc. That's the angular stone of this series.

Just take a look at those people worshipping Yuki they clearly wanted comedy and not a story about teenagers growing up (they would go mad if they knew how Yuki is about to change)

I guess Roshidere will fit the tastes of people having enjoyed Aquatope on the White sand or Yorukura as they both talk about growing up despite failures as much as Roshidere does.

I personally had no idea what I was getting into when I picked up the LN, but I watched the very first preview that came out back in March, and the next ones before finally reading it just two months ago. Before that, I learned about the LN two years ago and loved the synopsis but didn't read the LN back then because I had exams.

You raise a good point in stating that the anime-onlies (as well as us, LN readers) were baited into watching the anime, ๊œฑแดœษด๊œฑแดœษด๊œฑแดœษด mentioned on V4.5 afterword (which was โ“ˆโ“Šโ“…โ’บโ“‡ long) that that's how he does business, describing himself as an 'awful person'. That being said, ๐™๐™ค๐™จ๐™๐™ž๐™™๐™š๐™ง๐™š has what it takes to redeem itself.

And by the way

@DragyG Valid point.

I personally had no idea what I was getting into when I picked up the LN, but I watched the very first preview that came out back in March, and the next ones before finally reading it just two months ago. Before that, I learned about the LN two years ago and loved the synopsis but didn't read the LN back then because I had exams.

@DragyG 'ใฎ' & 'ใ‚“' is pronounced as 'no' and 'n' respectively, so I can see why. If you try to read it while tracing the Japanese characters to English, it's readable (in a roundabout way) and that's what I did.

@DragyG Barring its Japanese pronunciation and several meanings, the tracing of the character is in line (explicitly) with the English alphabet 'R', don't you think?

@DragyG 'ๆš‘ใ„' and '็†ฑใ„' both are pronounced as 'atsui', meaning hot. But the kanjis look different, but are still pronounced the same. Why?

@DragyG That's so sophisticated!

But how do you even remember each of these kanji characters and their meanings? It's so insane to think about.
You must know over 1,000 kanji combinations - as an N2 Japanese speaker.

I know around 13.700 words but that's no big deal.
Actually Japanese is hell when you start learning but as you progress you start seeing similarities in a lot of kanjis (eg : ้—‡, ้Ÿณ, ๆš— all have ็ซ‹ and ๆ—ฅ in it) which help remember them faster. So the more you learn to read Japanese the easier / faster you learn to read Japanese. (Same about writing)
