I’m not sure if there’s much need to go and sing praises about some random cringe as fuck play when these people have their own play to worry about lol. But you know, the coincidence of this random play being written by the same script writer whom the author grilled from top to bottom last episode was kind of a really convenient coincidence. It helped in more ways than one after all. Though that being that, Abiko’s stubbornness putting the entire play on-hold is… a bit infuriating to say the least.

I’m also not sure about the pacing with which they’re adapting this part, I mean this entire conflict should’ve been over by now. It’s already the third episode and we still haven’t started the rehearsals for the second time. It’s still the author “re-writing” the script and blaming people left right and centre. We appreciate a grounded analysis of any mangaka’s day to day work but, can we just get over with this and have a reconciliation already?

Finally Mem-cho appears. Lol Ruby she's throwing tantrum for more gigs so that she could brag about it 🤣 . That stage performance surely exceeded Aqua's expectations. Akane-san's smirking is the cutest i saw in this episode as well as ruby's reaction. Abiko she's too arrogant to cope with or work. They presented Abiko as victim but what About GOA Sensei!! What did he do to deserve those harsh words from Abiko even though he is very talented & professional on his projects. Aqua did good by giving her those tickets , now she will realize how wrong she was at rejecting Goa's script.

Peak Wednesday is back!

I absolutely adore the StageAround theater. The audience seats are positioned on a large circular platform that rotates slowly to each stage set. This eliminates the need to constantly replace props and scenery on the stage since everything is already in place. Instead, the seats simply rotate in front of a different stage, to reveal a different scene.
I've been to 'Stage Around Tokyo' before, and it was truly a fantastic viewing experience.
Aqua's reaction while watching StageAround is literally the same as mine, lmao, it was that fun.

Poor Melt-kun, still getting ignored by Yoriko.
This episode hit too close to home. They're explain things about the mangaka profession that you might not know. Of course you'll starting to get concerned about all mangakas mental health.
I love the dynamic between these two mangakas. Abiko and Yoriko agruing each other was so funny to watch and so relatable.

Great episode as usual. You get to know more about the industry from this anime.
Thanks for the meal.

Akane wearing chokers made my day.

Fatal has REALLY grown on me, I love it so much now 😭 can’t stop listening.

OMG AKANE SERVED FACE ALL EPISODE. Wow my baby looked amazing and she might’ve just saved the play by taking Aqua to see the venue in advance. Not only was it a cute date opportunity, but it also let Aqua see how scriptwriters incorporate the physical venue itself into the script and enhance audience experience. A mangaka with no play-write experience isn’t going to be able to do that.

I love how proud Akane looked when Aqua said he enjoyed the play though, she was bursting at the seems with excitement lol I love her so much. CHOKER AKANE???? They’re trying to kill me today

I get that Abiko sensei got social issues and hates what happened with the My Sweet Today tv drama adaptation, but wanting to fire GOA who’s got way more experience and has only done his job with the utmost professionalism all because she refuses to compromise is so gross man. It’s never going to be a 1:1 adaptation and part of being a human being is compromising. Like she doesn’t even want assistants helping on her manga because they “don’t get her vision” like cmon 😭

HOPEFULLY she actually heads her mentor’s advice after that heart to heart. All that nasty stuff she said was so unnecessary too. “Save until you sell 50 million copies” like who cares how much you’ve sold if your life is miserable, you have no one who wants to be around you and you can’t even meet deadlines or sleep properly… but with Aqua sending her tickets to a play, maybe she’ll come around.

LOVE how “Burning” bleeds into the final scene of every episode it flows so well.

The last couple minutes with Abiko and Yoriko were decent and by far the best aspects of this episode but beyond that, this episode was incredibly plodding and mostly dull to watch. Expected Doga Kobo to do a bit more to show off the magic of the 2.5D Stage play beyond what was shown here to make up for how dry this episode felt but it is what it is. Melt has been feeling the effects of his piss-poor acting of Sweet Today constantly, and his presence around the mangaka of Sweet Today, Yoriko was definitely felt in this episode alongside others. He's got quite the job in bringing out a good performance for Yoriko's former assistant, Abiko and at least having her play be a success. For three episodes and how hyped this arc is, while it definitely will pick up the pace and intensity in due time, the start has been a sleepy watch admittedly. Now that Abiko's getting to actually watch the play, hopefully she can figure out how her manga can work in a play format a lot clearer and get on the same page with a scriptwriter with clear promise (showcased in the 2.5D play Aqua and Akane watched earlier) to get the Tokyo Blade production back on track.

Given the high level of quality that this adaptation has been so far, I'm surprised they didn't show the stage play in more detail. Perhaps my expectations were a bit too high, but that part was so very dry to watch, given how the cliffhanger was last week with Akane and Aqua going on a date. The second half was better, with Abiko-sensei and Yoriko-sensei hashing things out and in the end, Yoriko still taught Abiko some things, even if Abiko surpassed her teacher in terms of sales and success. I can't imagine the hellish lifestyle that mangakas that have their work published weekly are living, but maybe now, Abiko will find it a bit more rewarding and make her own manga better, and meet the stage play staff halfway.

Admittedly, not the strongest start to Season 2 with these first three episodes, but once we get into the meat of the arc, maybe it'll pick up.

I've been waiting for the Abiko-Yoriko arguing scene to be adapted and the VAs totally nailed it! In my opinion, it's the most memorable convo of the entire series.

That weekly mangaka life is no joke, Abiko looked horrible when Kichijoji showed up to her place. This is why I’ll never complain when One Piece or JJK or any weekly series goes on an extended break because of the author’s health. They’re literally killing themselves.

Abiko still remains as stubborn as ever but it seems like letting her frustrations out during that argument with Kichijoji should set her straight. No mangaka wants to see their work, their pride and joy tarnished, but sometimes you just have to take a step back and let the people in charge of the play/anime/live action series, etc just do their thing. Hopefully seeing the play that Akane and Aqua saw will change her mind.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

the episode was so good, it went into the depth of a person who's good at things but is not at socialising in the most realistic way possible. the way the author abito sensei said that "i dont like it when my favourite manga that i love is not adapted properly" , it really hit into my heart. it reminded me of the time when season 2 of promised neverland was adapted, almost started crying hearing the expression in the voice actor's voice, truly a masterpiece anime

Looks like Abiko's arrogance and sense of control is her coping mechanism to all the stress and work she has put on herself. It's really nice that Yoriko being a good friend, let her let off some steam.

The part that stood out to me is Abiko as a perfectionist, being a weekly publisher, the reader's input and a monetarily successful series on the line causes her to deviate from her ideal story. She doesn't want to make concessions but Yoriko makes her realize that she already does that.

Hopefully, she sees what Aqua saw and adapts the play to her work well.

Also, the more I listen to the OP and ED, the more I love it. They are both so good!

Fr though just have the author check out a 2.5 stage play. Would make it much easier if they did this at the start instead of having Aqua an actor hand some tickets through another mangaka.

Still, this episode really showed more of a mangaka's perspective and just once again how badly of a condition most work in. I hope the Tokyo Blade author after seeing this play is more understanding of Goa and actually works with Goa on the script. Also, they really pulled the my manga has more sales card lol.

Aqua and Akane's date was also nice. We also got a bit of Ruby and her classmates. Kana also nice. Melt still hated by the mangaka as expected.

More importantly, we got MEM-CHO!

And peak has returned again, this is what Oshi No Ko makes so great. After maybe a weaker last episode it went back to peak again.

Ruby throwing a tantrum at Miyako will never stop being funny.

That stage around play date has really changed Aqua perspective and the fate of their play as well
Aqua maybe first time truly impressed by something other than anything involving Ai.

But the second half was truly Goated.
Only a great mangaka like Aka Aksaka can bring about struggles of weekly mangaka this well.
Abiko and Yoriko going at it to each other was very entertaining brilliant voice acting from.
Abiko's intention are not bad but still GOA deserves justice.

My man Aqua to the rescue again..

It was great to have focus on Abiko and Yoriko, great stuff with them as we dive into the life of a popular weekly mangaka and how harsh it can be. Loved watching their interactions. Itou Shizuka's voice is just so lovely.

Btw I'm on the same boat as Aqua and didn't know about how stage play could evolve untill I read it in OnK. Watching a proud Akane was cute. Poor Ruby with Frill and Minami though lol.

They absolutely cooked with todays episode, I was reading the chapters alongside the anime to see the adaptation and boy did they exceed expectations, especially during Abiko's and Yoriko's argument, they really elevated the already tension-filled argument in the manga. My glorious blue haired queen Akane in choker, I can finally rest in peace.
At the end of the day, we all love watching trash.

Akane taking Aqua out to that awesome looking moving theater was such a great idea especially since it led to Aqua handing a ticket to Yoriko who later gave it to Abiko. I hope that Abiko has a change of heart and compromises with GOA and the rest of the staff plus it will give her a much needed break too.

Side note, it was nice to see Ruby again even if it was only for a few minutes in the beginning.

How did this red and white hair guy saw Aqua face from behind and even more surprising how Akane did not see his face?!!??!?! she was all the time next tot him! the dialogues or animation are stupid...

That Abiko is copy paste like Hongou Hitoha from Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo.
The same characters and behaviour, the same hair, height, both flat chested :D Similar problems and similar job and both annoying...

This episode shows the real talent of the scriptwriter GOA-kun in theatre performance, this shows his capability to write scripts where the audience enjoys the show.

Here we get to see the arrogant behaviour of not just Abiko-sensei but pretty much every talented person in any field thinking that they know everything or others don't know anything, and the arrogance of I will do everything by myself.

No wonder why there is no one helping her with her work.

Let's see whether she understands the theatrical script from the performance written by GOA-kun.

Well time to make my comment on the second season of oshi no ko. (Or second idk)

Firstly the animation has stepped up imo, it looks a lot better and more fluid than the first season. (Imo)

The opening song visually clears the first song by a mile. As for the song itself it’s very close but I think op 2 takes it just barely.

Nice to see Ruby, Minami and frill again. I was so absorbed in the stage play I forgot they existed 🤣

I must have like the worst genetics in the world cause no way the blue haired girl (forgot her name again) grew her hair that long in a year. It’s taken me like 4 years to even get to that length. Although yeah I guess it varies between gender and genetics. (Probably idk)

That argument at the end was hilarious. I feel bad for the weekly publishers they must have it rough. At least doing it monthly you can really focus on the quality I’d imagine

This episode seemed longer than usual. But I'm kinda glad it was cause it was a great episode.

It's still hard to not hate Abiko-sensei. I understand her more now. But the shit she's pulling is unfair and arrogant as the show says. Hopefully, after she sees that play she'll change her mind like Aqua did. I kinda wish they showed a bit more of that play tho. Tho I suppose it'd be pointless. So, they just described the venue more. It does sound entertaining but based on what they described it seemed more like a gimmick to me. I guess I won't know unless I saw a lavish play like that in person.

The back and forth between Abiko and her senpai Yoriko was amazing. It's the thing I love watching Oshi no Ko for. All the background stories that happen behind the scenes of many manga, anime, movies, and shows. Aka Akasaka being a successful mangaka with many of his works receiving adaptations (and one of them getting axed recently) must have plenty of experience to draw from. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these stories happened exactly like that in his actual life.

Waiting for the next episode. Justice for GOA!

Ok I absolutely loved the scene where the manga artists were fighting. That felt like a moment of real friendship. Fighting but still clearly caring for eachother (the whole time Sweet Today's author kept inking for her, even though they were insulting eachother). Sometimes you just need to have that conflict to get to the root of the issue and make it out together. That was great and it really humanized Tokyo Blade's author more for me, especially as she both laid out her insecurities and we saw her admiration/love for Sweet Today and its author.

I'm glad Aqua gained more of an appreciation for theater and that Goa's hardwork/expertise was acknowledged. It was smart of him to realize that the only way Tokyo Blade's author (yes I forgot both of the author's names 😍) would understand she's out of her depth would be too see one of his plays (or just a play if that kind in general). I'm excited to see how things progress :)

The opening is growing on me more and more tbh and i am loving it.

Finally we get to see Ruby and also appearance of frill and minami ( i love frill). Rubys discussing her idol debut success and her being able to finally have a little place in the school but after hearing frill and minamis discussion she still wants more and goes to request mama miyako (best girl btw). we get to see memcho too and miyako cant give them more work until kanas schedule frees up after the play speak and kana is still pouty with aqua gone to the date with akane.

Speaking of which the theatre date was short but insightful for aqua whos inexperienced in the field, he gains lot of knowledge about modern theatre and cinematics element being implemented to give it a better experience for the audience. Akane was happy to see aqua taking all the theatre experience and her expressions were adorable.
Raida spots them and gives them an update on how abiko sensei is still going ham on GOA and its not looking good. Also him complimenting GOA's work was touching.
Aqua after his experience of theatre play makes some good points and hes going to try to help the production with the script.

Everyone gathers at yoriko senseis house part of aquas plan and she still hates melt xD Yuriko gives a little background on akibo sensei. How she used to be her assistand and a socially awkward person who tried to connect with people but after her popularity she got a little egoistic which makes sense. but it went so far that she started imposing on yuriko without a second thought especially since abiko said she will always be a mentor to her. I feel for yuriko sensei and i respect her for still understanding abiko even after that.

Still she visits abiko as per aquas request & also to check on her. Seeing her condition decides to help her and the mentor student banter began back and forth loved it cause abiko needed that reality check from someone and no one else better than yuriko. Aka sensei's writing with this scene was chefs kiss just perfectly describing mangakas life and the details well structured along with the emotions. Abiko apologizing and acknowledging the fact that she was unstable due to so much pressure and said things she shouldnt have was nice Also Yuriko sensei won my heart this episode probably one of my personal favorites this season for sure.

Finally they both manage to finish the work and Abiko is going to watch the play which will hopefully impact on her relationship with GOA san seeing his amazing work and make the script move forward.
