Besides the usual adventure vibes, we also got food and eating too. It's nothing too fancy but the reactions were kinda priceless. Well done Trigger. They truly made this show as entertaining as it can be so far imo.

This world has many good things to offer… to eat, but I’m afraid to say metal isn’t one of them lol. So however fondness and nostalgia(not particularly but still) Laios may feel towards living armours, there shouldn’t be any attempt made towards eating such things lol. Though who would’ve known, these guys would meet such a bunch and heck that bunch of moving armours are really hostile too.

Liked how they put Laios in front to act as a decoy to sniff out any possible conspirator, who might have been controlling these armours, but this series being this series, whatever controlling those armours was a weird looking slimy monster. So yeah, they were living and being controlled by someone, but not by a human lol.

Marcille’s reactions are killing me, I mean she’s the most normal out of the bunch lol. Eating some normal monster is one thing, but eating something which was quite literally living in some space between some metal scrap is totally different. Though, they still did…

… a full course meal at that. God, these people are really something lol. Also, we know the TRUE reason why Laios is so willing to carry that sword. Fun episode.

So, if death isn't a permanent thing, is that why they're not too anxious about the sister?

The hall that Laios and his companions arrived at was filled with suits of armor. The mysterious and enigmatic creatures known as Living Armor, which once dealt a painful blow to Laios, once again stand in the way of their progress. Observing the actions of the attacking armors, Laios speculates that the armor is protecting something. In order to uncover its true identity, he charges alone into the depths of the hall.

Laios is really something... I mean, given his mindset, I'm genuinely surprised he hasn't tried eating a human yet. I'm thinking the living armor might be part of the Insect kingdom in this world, considering it looks like a carapace? But then, where's the meat in this 'invertebrate'? Also, is it just me, or does it bother anyone else that he just left behind a cool suit of armor? It looked pretty badass! Maybe they could use it to house monsters, like a makeshift power armor without needing a fusion cell or fuel. Though, considering the creatures made holes in the armor to live in, it's probably not very durable.

It feels kinda dark to eat most of its friends and then keep it captive, but hey, living armor oysters do sound strangely appealing.

You know you have fallen down the rabbit hole when your first thought upon seeing steel armour is 'I want to eat that'. The battle was really fun and energetic and turns out the armour really is edible in a sense. Whilst certain 'other' anime reward us with ecchi scenes for getting through the action, Dungeon Meshi rewards us instead with monster food. I think Laios is going to forever be haunted a bit by his new sword pal.

In this episode the subs you want to use start with "doesn't it feel like you're twice as tired?". "These stairs go on and on and it's exhausting." is dub subtitles.

Laios really wanted to get that iron overdose lmao
Okay, Laios is definitely my favorite character in this. His fascination with monsters is so amazing.
Living Armor gotta be one of the most interesting monsters I've seen in fiction.
18:56 "Drarf-style stir-fried Living Armor" "Living Armor soup" (for some reason only these two weren't translated)

It's nice how not everything is super delicious, and it can be just not bad or even bad.
Laios got a moster sword! The narrator called it a companion, so I hope it'll be friendly and stays with them for the long run.
This is sooo good. 9/10 for me so far.

I like this episode, particularly because it was well-paced and the animation is superb as usual. That scene where they show a flashback used a different kind of animation compared to the actual, which was a nice addition to it. Caught off guard by the sudden pantsu flash of the cook. I wonder what happened to the sister who was eaten by the dragon.

The fact that they somehow made freakin' living armors of all fantasy creatures edible (let alone organic) after pointing out themselves that they're all metal was impressive enough, but having them be some sort of sophisticated mollusc is so absurdly creative that it's hilarious.

Also, never thought I'd be praising RPG clams for their drip but that lion armor's design is absolutely sick.

This was fun! It's got some classic Trigger-style animation, which I love.

Personally, I probably would have thought it be funny to have the Living Armor hold up middle fingers like the IKEA hand models you see so often lmao.

Almost forgot! We got old-man Senshi panty-shot! Old-man ecchi lmao. Fans of the manga did say that Senshi is the fanservice character lol.

Pretty disappointed that the armors were just controlled by jellyfish, it kills the fantasy vibe expecting them to be magical or magically controlled by someone.

The group claimed that they were trying to keep Marcille's magic as a last resort, giving me hope that her limited magic would be pretty flashy or at the very least very resourceful. I'm not saying that her spells should be like Megumin's explosion spell, but come on, those magic shots were pretty lame.

At least the Trigger animation quality was the highlight of the episode, specially the flashback scene.

@FarCritical The opposite really. The fact that no one noticed for the decades? (centuries?) that they've been fighting them, just makes this really stupid. They even talked about selling the armor, it means no one has ever actually sold or done anything with a suit in all this time.

@Sokah

1) The mollusks aren't typically aggressive unless they're guarding their eggs, which imply they're either dormant (unless you get too close) or simply leave the armor when they've finished their life cycle.

2) If you were able to defeat the armor, the mollusks would be dead. In that case, even if someone found them, they would assume they're just that: mollusks. Dead mollusks, even. Why would you think mollusks of all creatures are animating armor instead of the much simpler explanation of magic, since it's so commonplace?

2.5) Broken armor isn't good for wearing or selling.

3) Marcille mentions that she's never seen this chamber before, so living armor isn't even something that adventurers often find in the first place.

The explanation makes perfect sense.

@Sokah The guy who wanted to sell the armor got killed on the spot. I doubt many adventurers even managed to squeeze past this room unscathed and even if they did they didn't have time to think what's inside them.

@Sneasy SMH All your points are contradicted by the show itself if you'd paid attention. It's just a bunch of nonsense that contradicts itself constantly. A lot of dumb kid shows do that a lot, but most of them don't also try to pretend they're not, like this show is.

@Sokah lmao, oh, okay. Let me guess, people said this show was better than all the shows you watch, you're mad about that, and now you're trying to "outsmart" the show and show how it's bad by misunderstanding what was plainly told to you in the face?

I'm a strong fan of people who think they're clever by trying to nitpick the works of others but come off sounding as ironically uninformed themselves.

I love this show. Whatever complaints I might be having, they get forgotten as I watch the episode, and I just end up with a stupid grin on my face.

Loved the swoop-y and stretchy animation in the childhood flashback sequence.

Also, very imaginative with the creature design and the food. I can feel the glee the author was feeling as they came up with this stuff.

@Dan_ALves Ornstein is a boss from the Dark Souls video game series, a big guy covered in armor.

I think people can get resurrected in this world, like a video game or D&D. They talked about "party wipes" and "coming back after being turned into poop" earlier in the show.

@Dan_ALves Marcille says in episode 1 that her first death was from a slime. They have a conversation about people being revived from scraps so maybe poop works as well. There's also the thing with the plants in episode 1 with the corpse in them where they say that they will leave the corpse in the open so that others may find it and revive him. All in all, as of now we can assume that their view on dying is quite different. That being said, in episode three we see a rotten corpse and the leader mentions that this is what happens when you die to far off the beaten path, nobody will find your corpse before it's gone.

Hey guys, help me out please. I’m kinda no to anime and I don’t know anything from this manga.
I didn’t like very much the first two episodes, I thought it had more action but it was like 80% of the episodes just cooking and talking about food.
You that saw this episode, it was the same from the first two or had more? If it’s the same, you that read the manga know that has this vibe the entire series? Because if it’s like this the entires time I will leave it. Thank you.

Pretty creative idea to have animated armour not actually be animated at all. I guess every monster we find in this show will be edible one way or another. Also Laios casually dropped how he had his "first death" at the hands of the armour and no one batted an eye so uh I guess that's a thing for this world. Priest resurrection magic or some shit idk.

@Arkaniet Clearly I didn´t remember that, thanks for reminding me.
I just thought they left the body so it could be retrieved and given a proper burial or something, but I didn´t remember about the reviving part. So as long as the body exists, the person can be revived?

Quite the exciting episode, really enjoyed Laios’ fight with the living armor, very nice art and animation there too, too bad I watched this tired af tho lol, it’s a relaxing watch so I was struggling. And of course Laios wanted to try eating the living armor, the madman wants to consume all lol, but it unsurprisingly ended up being a hit when it was revealed that the living armor was being controlled by little monsters, perhaps he’s not so mad after all.

But a meal and a good fight wasn’t all we got from this, Laios scooped up a new companion in his sword which caused him to make my favorite expression of the show so far lol, I look forward to seeing more food ventures with this new “party member”.

@Stark700 Reanimated armors aren't anything new in fantasy genre. It's just that this series gives it an unique and interesting twist by turning them into a type of shellfish rather than making them stereotypical spiritually or magically-enhanced armors.
