I was not expecting this to turn out to be a human world! That accident really dealt some damage to Odakawa’s brain.

I guess Sakura’s going to kill Odagawa, but knowing him, he already saw it coming.

That was a crazy odd ride if you catch my drift.

I thought it was a great show to watch at night since it gave such a midnight vibe and it's slow pacing. Damn was I wrong! 9/10

I really liked that last twist where it turns out this is based on the human world that did not came out nowhere as I can recall some dialogues that hints this. And for the rest, I felt the story was dragged too long filling with useless banters that don't carry weight to the main plot is riddled with unrealistic convenience which frustrated me to no end and only thing came me to end was the murder-mystery reveal which just only revealed on the end. Honestly this could be a fine experience in a movie format.

Alright, that was a very nice show, I really liked it. I'm glad people talked so much about it or else, while I was planning to watch it, it probably wouldn't have been after a while and I might would've forgotten it actually.
I'm not gonna list this show's qualities, so many people already did so before me.

That said... Mmm... How to say that... First thing, I confess my sins, may I rest in peace.
Now... Please if you really wanna kill me, make it quick and painless.
Because I might happen not to find Odd Taxi to be a masterpiece.

Yup I said it. Now, why do I think that way ? Firstly, I might be the only person in this world to not feel satisfied by this ending.
Edit : Nevermind, I've seen some people complaning a bit. Not as much as me, but still.

The reveal about the murderer was very underwhelming (it was obvious it was this girl but I really hoped they went for something more impactful for the reveal), and while as I said, the truth was obvious, I can't really say I like it, it's just... Yeah, underwhelming really is the word.
Another thing is the lack of real character development. A lot of these characters experienced some interesting evolution in the show, but everything has been lost at the very end because they all came back to stage 1. Dobu is a criminal so he got arrested (which is normal but that's still a rather sad ending for such a good character), Tanaka is back to being a salaryman (I'm glad he is doing fine but after everything I really think showing him working on his mental issues would've been much better than showing him being perfectly fine, it's totally unbelievable that someone as mentally broken as him would go back to normal just like that), Kakihana is working which is a good thing but I can't believe Odokawa didn't help him at all (speaking of which, I really wonder if Odokawa is supposed to be seen as morally grey because that's the way I see him), that hippo guy is back to being a social network addict (and how exactly did he get back his phone ?)...
The only one who received real development is Odokawa but even for him, something feels wrong. First, the twist was pretty nice, I liked the metaphor, but from a realistic point of view (because they clearly did try to adopt this point of view), that's not only stupid but also, I'm gonna say it again, underwhelming. Underwhelming, because it made for a rushed development, we didn't actually get to see Odokawa work on his issues, but because he drowned all of a sudden : magic ! He can talk to humans ! And he isn't shocked at all ! Yaaaa...y ?
Also I'm not certain drowning can solve such a problem, both psychologically and physically. Not only that, but his friend (whose name I forgot) and the nurse (whose name I also forgot) jumped on the conclusion that he lost this "ability" before he even woke up, that's stupid.
And speaking of that twist, they keeping hinting at that through people not understanding how he can recognize silhouettes so easily, but he didn't just do that, he also actually referred to people as animals a few times, in front of them, but this didn't bother them ? Yeah, sure.
Finally, to end this part about this particular episode, the twist about what's behind the door is very disappointing, especially since this cat is far from being the first actual animal to appear in the show.

Now about the rest of the show, as I said it was very good, but definitely not perfect. The problems I listed above also impact the show as a whole, but there's more.
A lot of characters, while interesting and unique, ended up being very cartoonish. Take Yano for example, I expected so much from this character and waited for something great up until the last episode, and I barely got anything. Turns out the only interesting thing about him is that he talks in rhymes.
Another thing is that the show is praised for having everything connected, but there were a lot of times where I thought the connection happened not because it totally made sense but because the show wanted it to happen. With that I can also say that it didn't manage to avoid all those little things that make me facepalm, such as that scene where the cop was about to open Odokawa's closet but got interrupted at the very last moment. I really believe that great and clever writing also involves getting rid of these types of things.
Something else is the fact that the show often built up mystery and tensiom out of not so much, and sometimes insisted so much on some details that the twist ended up not being one. The best example for me would be Tanaka shooting Dobu, with how much they insisted on him not having any bullets left, it seemed obvious to me that the opposite would happen. Because of that, what would've actually been surprising to me would've been if nothing happened at all because Tanaka actually ran out of bullets.

Now with all that said, don't get me wrong, I really do like the show and I'm not trying to hate on it. But seeing it being praised everywhere as the most perfect show ever even though I can so easily list so many flaws is frustratimg to me, we can totally acknowledge that a show is very good while still acknowledging it's not perfect.

So I give it a 7/10, unfortunately for all the reasons listed (and also the fact that while I was invested in the story,I never felt any strong emotion coming out of it) I wasn't impacted enough to give it more than that. That's still a good score ! But I was hoping for more.

What a great show. Amazing to see how all the confusing storylines finally got clear. At the beginning of the episode I started to suspect that something like this happened to Odokawa and he is suffering from some kind of illness because of a trauma but the way they showed and explained his view of the world was still mind-blowing. And what a beautiful scene where he fell into the water, while showing the pararells of it in the other characters' lives. Odokawa's flashback to his former accident when he suffered the exact same thing was brilliant. I can safely say that after watching this show for weeks, laughing, shedding some tears, and getting baffled and shocked after so many plottwists, this is the best thing I'v seen in a long time. Maybe ever.

This episode is the best! because this episode I gave a rating of 8.

So Odokawa's visual agnosia caused him to perceive everyone as animals.

Damn, so the person who killed the real Yuki Mitsuya was Sakura Wadagaki (fake Yuki Mitsuya) it looks like she killed the Giraffe and Taeko too.

So the ending is open ending.

Also I felt it lacked proper endings and conclusions for the side characters.

Well, this is how looks like adequately directed anime and accurately scripted story. It has the same vibe with Durarara but did everything right from the start to the end. Durarara was full of edgy freaks, all of them were totally unrelatable and unreal even though they were represented in a realistic human way. On other hand Odd Taxi used oddly normal "animal" characters whom are easy to understand and imagine them as your neighbors for example. Durarara was pretentious and extremely boring for more than 60 episodes since its separate parts of story were crap and they never felt as pieces of big puzzle. On other hand Odd Taxi is only 13 episodes and every character here works for a story purpose not just to amaze simpleton with "wow, this girl use katana to make minions from people! Oh, we also have a dullahan for you!" - literal circus of freaks with out any sense.

I was sceptical about this anime since most of modern anime praised for nothing but it's just another exception which proves the rule.

It was ok. I predicted the majority of the ending, and the big twist.

The show should've been a mini series around 6 episodes if you ask me, sure it probably wouldn't hit as hard for most people, but at least it'd cut out so much filler scenes and dialogue.

I haven't watched such a wild anime finale in a while. It was a pretty solid 9/10 before the finale, but the last episode made it a 10/10.
This anime had the same intensity and vibe as when I watched Erased.

Hopefully there's an OVA or something, cuz that can't be it right?

Unbelievable. Simply brilliant. I can't believe I almost didn't watch this anime because of the characters to be animals. Only for it to turn out to be such a well executed plot twist. Also that substitute girl was the murderer wtf. I hope nothing happens to odokawa after the last scene. I guess we will find out in the upcoming movie. 10/10. Best new anime of 2021. No arguments.

I almost dropped it around ep 7-8 Because i thought it was not that special but Also not bad. So i continued & damn what fool i almost could've become to miss this gem.
Not only The show has amazing ppot twist, but it has 2. TWO god dammed ones.
I've been watching anime for 7 years & i rarely see ending delivery as strong as that. Heck maybe this was one of The Best plot twists & reveals to end a series.
Many beloved series often fail to delivery The ending of a a series. Be that anime or manga. But With this one i am soo please that i stayed till 5am to watch it all. That was a wild taxi ride for sure!

What kinda bothers me is how exactly is Sakura planning to kill Odokawa. Sure, she strangled a girl her age and size, but Odokawa is a heavy middle-aged man, he would easily phisically overwhelm her. She could shoot him, but she doesn't seem to have a gun. Even if she pulls out a knife, Odokawa probably has a decent chance of winning if he reacts quick enough. It's not that easy for a teenage girl to kill a 41-year-old adult man!

so Odakawa got some functional psychosis (hallucination and delusion) going on due to his childhood trauma, he sees humans as literal animals eh

and damn that ending though, that Yuki girl is alive all along? will she kill Odakawa? hopefully the movie will explain how she is alive

ah no maybe i got it wrong since they are in human form now, the real Yuki was killed by that Yuki replacement all along since she talks to her mother on the phone

Shirakawa is beautiful hopefully if Odakawa survives they get married

the movie will give Odakawa another trauma to bring back his functional psychosis i assume then he is gonna plan on how to take down that fake Yuki girl

At some moment this show could have been so great and thrilling but it just got stale and boring with a bunch of bland characters and a superwoman that can appear to save the guy she likes when he's getting strangle and when he's about to get drown, the power of capoeira ladies and gentlemen!

I guess the audience is suppose to have visual agnosia too but then everyone and their mother knew each other in this little town called Tokyo so that's explain why we could see them everytime as animal except for the flashback were they hinted that they were humans all along.

AYO! Amazing final episode! They finally confirmed that Odokawa sees others as animals! And better yet, he got out of his visual agnosia.

That big boss Tapir was actually a really sweet guy and even had a rule of not killing people.

Lol, so there was just a pet cat in Odokawa's closet. I'm realising this now but I think the cat was already hinted at from the opening. Odokawa's interacting with the cat at the start of the opening and I think he took that stray cat home.

Looks like Tanaka, Imai and Taichi have changed their life for the better and are doing pretty good now. The Homosapiens are also doing fine.

Holy shit so the replacement for Mitsuya was the one who murdered her?!? That girl is a psychopath. She might even kill the 2nd Mystery Kiss girl.

The ending sure was unnerving. Does she plan on killing Odokawa too? But why him? Killing him won't bring her success.

Seriously this anime is so underrated. I loved every bit of it. It hooked me up from the start. Honestly, I'm thinking of giving it a 10/10

Dang Odokawa is in danger.

Now, about my thoughts: Didn't expect that girl to be the killer. Yano was annoying. I prefer their animal designs. And now that we see their human forms, I think they would be recognizable miles away. Dobu especially. I thought the whole "Tanaka wants to kill Odokawa" thing was very exaggerated but the show was good. 7/10

For a strategic mastermind, Odakawa is kind of a dumbass. Like, just stop the car and don't plunge into the water? Yes, Yano is chasing him, but they're surrounded by police. I guess the writers needed it to happen to bring everything full circle. Oh well, at least Shirakawa still has the ability to be anywhere that the plot needs her to be, even at the bottom of the ocean. The ending does wrap things up pretty well, which is impressive considering all the lingering questions and tangled storylines.
