I have been wondering if they are using live beam rifles in duels.

What if someone shoots the cockpit by accident?
Is the cockpit beam-resistant? Something I have wondering for some time~
In IBO, it is beam-resistant but the pilot will suffer from overheating from beams. In SEED, phase-shift armour blocks physical blade attacks. In 00, GN field block beams but physical blades can penetrate it.

Will continue to monitor this Gundam timeline technology.

Could be different beam types. In the prologue the beam weapons fire blue and purple projectiles while in the duels so far every beam weapon is colored green. They're probably unable to penetrate the cockpit that way. In one of the PVs there's Dilanza firing blue projectiles

The battle was great. Really nice setting for a fight. Loved the animation and how it ended with someone else getting the final hit. Hopefully this is the last of the school duels for a while and we can move on to something grander, because at this point who else at the school is in their way? I guess they could bring in a rival school into the story, but I freaking hope not.

Animation was really good this episode, hope that Sunrise doesn't change 2D animation for Gundam.

Also I hope that we don't need to wait four years like Barbatos to get the Master Grade, Aerial suit is growing so much on me.

Think that Sunrise can animate mecha this well, and rarely use CGI for them meanwhile a certain other big name show uses CGI to animate chainsaws lol. I certainly hope they don’t decide to use CGI either in the future.

do we know if this is supposed to have multiple cours? I'm mostly enjoying the show but the plot progression feels very slow, I don't see how we can be anywhere close to a climactic point.

I'm starting to get sick at political affairs that needs to get disputed through duels, it's such a cheap plot device used to solve the stupidest of things without any effort. It would be better if we were talking about something worth fighting for, like oppression or something, but when all of this obstacles are put in Miorine's way through a random student that can add rules out of her flipping butt, it's nothing but a tool to drag things up and stretch this awful school section, like, flipping move things already, this turd isn't going anywhere at this point.

Also, Miorine's so damn dumb to ask for a team duel when most of her team has barely piloted anything, leading to an artificial desperate situation where Suletta is losing and can't use aerial because of some sort of EMP that affects only gundams, but suddenly she can and then she starts turning the tables with the power of gundam friendship. This is so damn cringe I can't even believe we're talking about Gundam here.

Whatever happened to the ruthless and crude Gundam?

I'm starting to feel the same, ngl, and I've already more or less accepted that G-witch is more of a gundam-lite, but the show's starting to suffer from what I like to call the "Shokugeki no Souma" issue, just minus the comedy... A.k.a. the stakes are always too high for Team Suletta to be able to afford losing, and for a setting where duels are used to resolve a lot of conflicts, that results in a more or less one sided & very predictable repetitive scenario.

I was looking at this fight, and I knew that no matter how badly Aerial gets dmg, no matter the fact that the rest of the team got steamrolled , no matter that the others actually team worked to keep Aerial down while they took others out then kept using team play to take it down even after it got the expected Gundam pilot power-up, Miorine's team gonna win. Doesn't matter that she just said "yes" to a duel w/o even frigging mechs or trained actual pilots, hoping plot-sama gives her the W.

Like, c'mon Sunrise, even in something that doesn't take itself seriously like Cross Ange, you made sure to give Ange some solid Ls before she starts scoring those Ws.

lose? it can't be, so the Gundam must have some secret mysterious power unlock and save the day every time :)

Ok, in the name of all sanity and logic, why would Miorine call for a team duel? To show the world that a Gundam can win 1v6? If that is the level of brains she has, there is no wonder her father would not consult with her about anything :D

I understand calling a duel, it makes sense to expect Suletta would probably never lose 1v1. But a team duel where she has neither the pilots, nor the mechs? Really bad writing this episode. -1 to overall score, worst episode so far.

I don't think Miorine did. I think the duelling committee imposed the condition. Or rather Lauda did it out of spite

I stopped caring about the duels themselves a long time ago because of how stupid they were but they really upped their game on this one, eh ?
The whole team duel thingy doesn't make any friggin' sense, the Earth Team doesn't have 6 pilots or even 6 mechs, even if she managed to at least resolve this issue, it wasn't the case at first, so unless they show that Miorine has actually a (stupid) plan in her mind, the whole thing makes no sense whatsoever.

Aside from that and the Oh boring "I want your wife for myself" ridiculously low stake (duels are boring, please do something else), the fight on itself was fine with some pretty cool moments, even if it still has this tendency to be resolved with the power-up/secret attack pulled out of Mercury's ass once again.

Now it's really time to end these stupid as hell duels and start to actually really introduce the world/universe they live in with proper stakes and development.
Because for now Mercury's universe feels incredibly small.

The best mecha battle yet! Since it was a team battle it could be hard to follow who’s who for some, but I didn’t have much trouble. Crisis averted. It’ll be smooth sailing for mio and Suletta’s company.

At this point I'm just here for Guel. He'll probably prove himself somehow and it'll be satisfying, other than that this anime can pull anything at any point and it completely lost me.

Shaddiq can apparently change the rules and revert them however and whenever he wants to, as if the world wasn't a joke already.

As I feared, Suletta completely forgot what Elan did (or she never realized it to begin with) because he's the first one who came to her mind when it came to finding support.

We're doing a team battle for some reason, idk why, idk who decided that. It sounds like it was Guel's brother? could be wrong but if so I didn't know he has that authority. If it's Miorine then she's stupid cause she should know they don't have what it takes for a team battle. And if it's Shaddiq then I guess the challenged party can declare conditions and the kind of battle that gives them whatever advantage they could get. No matter what it is it's stupid.

The whole drama between Lilique and whatever her name was just that, a petty school drama that I guess was supposed to be funny.

Suletta stays still for more than 10 seconds and she doesn't die. It's good that the world paused while she had that talk with Aerial. Everyone else was torn to shreds in less than 5 seconds and she stays still for double that but plot armor saves the day once again.

Every machine on earth's team gets taken out, but not really? I didn't know they're allowed in the game after getting taken out. And man what luck they have that Shaddiq landed where they could shoot him, decided to stand still for a few seconds to boast his win, and didn't just shoot her antenna off like he shot her leg. Man it's like the plot will bend everything so our team can win!

"You tell me to trust you when you can't trust anyone but yourself" says Miorine to Shaddiq. As if he lost because he didn't trust his teammates? when did that happen? And she says "I thought you'd try to finish the battle with your own hands" as if she predicted the incredibly ridiculous chain of events that lead to his loss. Fuck off show.

So yeah, just your average epoisode of TWFM.

In the prologue, Antidote is the weapon they used to make the Gundams stop working to kill the pilots. I can't imagine Prospera ever forgot that, and if Aerial was modified afterwards, there is no way Prospera wouldn't have created countermeasures. Perhaps the only way to know for sure if they worked was in battle, which led to the "fake tension." A better written story would have spelled all that out rather than leave gray areas you gotta consider. The slow build up to Okuichi craziness is a long one. I get your frustration.

You make it sound like I'm complaining about things not being spoon fed to me, when in reality I'm more baffled as how the show tries to convince you of how close Suletta is to her Gundam which makes up for extremely cringe dialogue and on top of that, the stakes being dumbified thanks to it. Cool thing they have tools to EMP gundams and kill their pilots, Cool thing they added a countermeasure for it, why the heck do I have to digest such an off putting display then?

My main problem is more so how Suletta is as a Character and the overall structure of things, not things not being spoon fed to me, it's not a matter of understanding.

I respect your issues with Suletta. They are well founded. There is a theory (which I also believe), that Eri from the prologue is Aerial in the show instead of Suletta. You may have already heard of it. All the conversations and talking are build up to for when Suletta and the audience find out the "truth" about Aerial. The show wants that reveal to hit us as hard as possible. Assuming this theory is actually correct.

FWIW, IMO Suletta has become a much more bearable MC to who she was even 3 episodes ago. Hopefully the show will balance her responses to how the world really is well rather than make her another sad sack Gundam MC. But I guess only time will tell.

I can't tell you what or how to think and I wouldn't try to. We are just two people watching this show and getting different things from it. Which is just fine.

Fair enough, I have heard the theory that Eri is the Aerial (or part of the Aerial, whatever) which is crazy, but I don't know what to feel about that if it ends up being true.

Decent episode but again, 9eps in, nothing great. The greatness of the prologue is still not reached.

More developement though instead of pure cringe.

Sulettas Mom had a tear when Aerial activated the new system, I guess she is proud of her boy.

Shaddiq seems to actually like Miorine, but doesnt seem to grasp the concept of homosexuality. I guess that happens when you have a harem.

Aerial has a new system, but that was honestly underwhelming considering she would have lost on her own. Atleast the anti gundam system has a cancellor now I guess.

Miorine seems to understand that Suletta is legitely insane, talking to Aerial seriously.

Guel on the verge of breaking ties with his dad I guess? (Or he will recklessly try another duel)

Gundam "we are totally a medical research group, dont mind the weaponized mobile suits" company successfully founded, though they got scammed since they didnt even get Pharact.

Renee has a list of backup boyfriends, but she still cares about their honour! A mistress worth simping for.

I wonder how many casual relationships are formed because of duels.

Suletta is still a horrible character but atleast she managed to get a full sentence out without stuttering.

This is probably one of my fav episodes so far (next to ep 1 and 6). The tension build up to the team battle, Miorine showing her prowess as a tactician, and showing more of Aerial sentience. There was so much jampacked in this episode that I feel a lot of people miss. Prospera shedding a tear when Aerial countered the Antidote field. Proof that it's not just Suletta fighting in these duels, but also Aerial and "everyone". Truth that Shaddiq and Miorine do have some sort of romantic history. and CHUCHU making a helluva statement with the finishing blow. Nika and Shaddiq having some kind of shady business. Also Shaddiq's real intentions, as to why he wanted the Gundam's for himself to keep, even though his adoptive father wants to dispose of them. (sorry it's all scattered and not really broken down, but these are my fav points of this ep).

I get that some people are bored with the show and the pacing and want more "shounen" action/plot, but each episode they lay out more bits of mystery that make you wonder and question what is REALLY going on here. There's an underlying battle that hasn't been discovered yet, but I have faith in the writers that we will find out at the perfect moment.

Also, those who dislike Suletta as the protag- I think her innocence is something we are going to want to protect, because the show has already shown very dark foreshadowing. There's a thing called "character development", and I'm very for it.

I know I can't speak for everyone, but I'm on board with the aERIal theory 100%. I'm thoroughly enjoying the show and eager to see what mystery unfolds as this cour continues into the next.

Enjoyed the episode. I'm really glad that it was a team win and not just Suletta gaining the power/strength out of no where. She's learning and growing but still needed her team to defeat a more sound opponent. Reminded me of tactical RPGs. The music as always is phenomenal, between the "Avengers" like music and that amazing ED (that I listen to on Spotify damn near daily). Even though I don't feel 100% invested in the characters, the win made me somewhat emotional. Maybe just because it's a reminder that I love mecha anime. Either way, looking forward to next week.

This fight pretty sums up how I feel about the series in a sense that it looks good from a production standpoint, but the story and characters feel rather weak which made the episode boring to watch. At this point I don't really care about the characters and their so called "issues" that affect their school lives with nonsensical duels What I really care about is the geopolitical conflict between Earth and the Space colonies and we haven't this show hasn't delivered on that which makes it frustrating to watch sometimes. With three episodes left, something has to give in terms of a major plot development otherwise the show is going to feel like a waste of time.

So this is the one when everyone seems a bit intrigued by Suletta talking to the Aerial, I would say obliging Miorine to fight 6vs6 gave a bit of a needed stakes to this fight since they have started to become predictable in a dull way and the rest of the group doing something and being the reason she won was entertaining for me, being used as an ad also might bring something to the whole company plot.

Guel might finally do something? And more "what's going on between Nika and Shaddiq?", let's see where these go.

I'm still trying to understand what Miorine hoped to accomplish by streaming the duel to all the companies in the Benerit Group. This shit is 100% going to backfire on her and if it doesn't then it's absolute bullshit and bad writing. The ENTIRE Benerit Group just saw a Gundam that has Anti-GUND tech countermeasures managing to completely dominate a 1v6 battle while being badly damaged.

This can only go down two routes:

1. it reignites the Gundam hate and they push even harder for its ban this time;

2. companies see the Aerial as an almighty war machine and they all want one now.

Both routes are completely disastrous for House Earth / GUND-ARM inc. Route 1 means that the Benerit Group will use all their power to apprehend the Aerial and arrest everyone involved with it, no exceptions. Route 2 goes completely against what GUND-ARM was founded for and puts them in a terrible position because they don't know how to build a Gundam like the Aerial and also don't have the capacity for it.

It's a lose-lose scenario no matter how you look at it.

Fucking Shutuppig has been scheming this whole thing since the beginning... the dude wanted to take Mio-Mio by force just as it was shown in the flashback when Guel was still the holder.

Shutuppig acted all nice, but he just wants to take everything for himself.

___ ___ ___

Meanwhile Ice Bastard Elan is also scheming shit, but he hasn't decide to pull anymore shit after the one he did at the Party.

I am not really sure about Guel... he seems to be getting better as a person that just wants to do his best.

___ ___ ___

BTW, Mio-Mio isn't piloting in the fight, cause we already seen her fight before... she's a total amateur that has problem with just aiming the gun... that's why she's in the "management" department instead (aka, she's book smart)

And in the end, Suletta had to almost solo the entire fight and was almost defeated.

But apparently Aerial has new tech that can override anti-GUND (as the mom smirks and shed a tear on it, since it was one of Gundam's biggest weakness)

Tho... poor Aerial, lost an arm, a leg and bunch of broken parts everywhere on the body... how are they going to fix Aerial? can the Earthians even do it? or do they have to send Aerial back to Mercury?
