im so perplexed, i dont how to rate this episode.. throughout the entire episode i was just stunned, but as a manga reader i was expecting something.. we all expected it to end with a different scene. they completely left out ramzis and erens interaction and his infamous freedom frame. all just so they can make a part 3 with more episodes. this season was amazing but im so mad at the studio or whoever gets to make these decisions.. they are backstabbing anime watchers with the title "final season" and they are backstabbing manga readers by leaving out the most important storyline of one of the best chapters 131 which would make this, an already god tier episode, maybe the best episode of television

Ready for my rant?

Here I am, an anime-only, watching this show with only 1 thing in my mind. "This is the last episode of that Final-Final part of Final AoT Final Season"

What did I expect: Some epic last boss battle like a shounen anime (like Levi vs Beast from S3)
What did I saw: More talks. Some new flashbacks scene + RECYCLE scenes from the previous episodes + barely new content on post-"The Rumbling".
THANK YOU MAPPA??!

Apparently the colossal titans that were supposed to be super super slow can swim that quick? The fights that I waited for so long was so freaking lame. I hate Floch but his fight scene was better than this bs.

The ending with Eren being called "The attacking titan". This provide not new to the table since this is pretty obvious to the audience. Nothing worth praising here. Generic way to use title to end the season like many other anime I know.

S4P2 was no doubt got boring after the Rumbling.

Also, EREN IS THE FOUNDING TITAN so he can do whatever the heck he wants with the colossal titans. Bloody hell, are you even paying attention?

Can't really rate this season very high because it had lots of filler crap and the story really took a nosedive. This last episode was pretty cool tho.

Time to wait for final final final season...(or a movie/ova whatever they do..)

Fantastic episode. That's what it was.

I actually cried a little when they were having fun and drinking, that was I think the last happy memories that they shared together in the middle of all that tension and desperation.

The animation of the rumbling and the fleets firing canons is jaw dropping, by far one of the best scenes MAPPA has ever delivered. The music complemented each episode really really well.

The last scene reminded me of the very first episode where the Colossal titan breached the walls as Eren, Mikasa, and Armin were watching. It's basically the same image that shows how the roles have been switched, how because of that tragic day which Armin always referred to as "Sono/Ano Hi" or that day, more tragedy is happening and more chaos is being caused.

There's a hint about the ending thrown in there foreshadowing what's going to happen. I'll put it in the spoiler tag but I do NOT want manga readers to confirm it

I'll have to wait another year to see everything fall into place, but whatever.
I'll see you all for one final last stretch.

Yes, finally an episode that I 100% like. It's been a few weeks that this didn't happen.

The flashback was really cool and heartwarming while we finally see our boy Eren and the start of his plan. It's a shame to wait another year for, maybe, the final final final season but I'm sure it will be worth it.

And god damn it Mikasa, just say "I love you" and we could have had our happy end right now

So ends yet another “Final” season of SnK, not really complaining but they might has we’ll have just named it numerically to save the confusion.

The season was good but my interest in SnK has waned since I don’t particularly like the direction of the story but it’s still entertaining enough to be enjoyable and worth seeing to the end just to find out what happens.

It literally is what you were presented with. Historia asks Eren what does he think about her having a baby. Everything outside is going to be one's interpretation of it. The manga never comes back to this.

The last scene was really well adapted in all fairness.

It really captured how fucked up Eren's actions are, and especially how terrifying it would be on the receiving end of them.

Imagine naming an anime "the final season" but you split it in 3 parts. I don't know what to say. But yes, this episode was great. 5/10 for the season.

Mikasa's really out here fumbling the ball in the most catastrophically painful way. "Family" my ass it's obvious you want to sit on his face lol

Regardless this was like taking a knee to the stomach right after eating your favorite food. Seeing everyone acting like a bunch of curious kids -finding out what a car is, trying ice cream, meeting new people, getting drunk as hell - all absolutely adorable.

Then the jump happens and we get slammed with the brutal reality of Eren's struggle. It just hurts to see how far this really devolved from "let's kill the titans wooo"

The OST, the colors, so much about this was so well done! My only annoyances were the momentary jump cuts during the dialogue between Eren and Mikasa and the swimming titans just being... weird...

This season excels over the last part in everything but the story. Episodes 1-6, 11, and 12 were classic goated aot, 9 and 10 were really good but had some minor slips. 7 and 8 had some hiccups in the writing and just seemed kinda pointless at times.

In all, it's between an 8.5-9/10 for me, as the shining parts of the story really carried the weaker parts and the rushed animation some parts suffered from (but that's not the animators' faults, it's the doing of the higher-ups). I'm really looking forward to part 3, but I hope the ending gets fixed. I'm an anime-only, but I'm preparing for the worst.

im gonna cry im so frustrated. im so tired of waiting for the ending to come. i'd have rather waited for the FINAL SEASON - of, idk 24-36ish episodes - to come out in 2023 rather than being like "oh its ending next year" in 2020, then "oh its ending this year i guess" in 2021, and now "oh its ending next year for good probably (maybe)" in 2022. the fact that s1 aired almost 10 years ago makes me want to jump off a cliff. i'll probably go read the manga now because i'm just so sick and tired of this show just NOT WANTING TO END!! i want it to end so badly because im tired of having all these questions and feeling like im not understanding anything thats happening because we're going months/years between parts/seasons. its so exhausting waiting for new anime content. especially because i was initially thinking the show was gonna end in 2021, since the announcement of "the final season", whenever tf that was.

maybe its my fault for getting my expectations up, in the sense that this would air like a normal anime consisting of multiple seasons rather than having seasons divided into parts. i wish, back in summer 2016 when i watched s1 for the first time, that i just started reading the goddamn manga instead of waiting for new anime seasons. almost 6 years of countless spoilers and regret later, i'm still kicking myself. what's that saying again - 'the best time was x years ago but the second best time is now'? sigh

um anyways onto the episode itself, i honestly thought that the whole first half was mikasa's dream sequence where everyone is fine and dandy and not dead. sasha imy :((((((((((((((((((((((( but turns out this is what happened before part 1? i think? the thing where eren asked mikasa "what am i to you?" and she answered family, huh??? ouch. i'll be honest i can't even remember much about eren and mikasa's relationship anymore. i thought that was so random coming from eren but perhaps it actually wasnt some random thing, judging from that one scene of him and zeke. hmm.

i just needed to vent so no one take this too seriously pls, im going to the manga now to answer my questions (starting from ch 1). maybe everything will finally make sense to me haha:(

Season 4 part 3?? Look's like season 7 to me :/
[A small rant of me losing my patience]

The final part of the final season of the anime which is ironically released/split into parts as seasonal each year ie. 2021-part 1, 2022-part 2, 2023-part 3 (final for real this time? IDK...)

MAPPA just stalling and thinking of another ending, unlike the manga? Whether it's good or bad depends on your patience.

I have read the manga (and know the ending / won't spoil) and enjoyed the things they made in this season (even though it is slow-paced). I was unsure at first how they will end this season within 12 episodes after watching how slow it went.

I truly believed that this is the end, the OP and ED were already relating towards the end. They foreshadowed the ending in the pre-final episode of this season only to show us another slow-paced episode with an action-packed 'to be continued' screen, god I hate that screen, gets me every time! I guess this may be part of the reason why they delayed the last episode of the season, a late April Fool's joke.

Just let the story end, accept the fact, and let everyone move on, 3 years for 'THE FINAL SEASON', come on!

Anyways, I'm not hoping for the best ending, I'm just hoping for an ending.

I guess is more on fault for naming it Final Season instead of Season 4. But its not like Mappa is dragging the Season, they are covering every chapter and it was pretty obvious they would end this Part in 130 or 131

I love that final quote ''I'll exterminate them, until none of them remain'' because it throws us back to when Eren said that about exterminating all of the titans, but now that line is about exterminating (nearly) all of humanity. With just that one single line we get to see how he's developed--how he's changed--throughout the series. It gave me goosebumps.
...At least let me finish.

Good catch, but yes and no. Eren never exactly changed. Think about it, why did he want to exterminate all titans? Because they were an existential threat to Paradis. To his friends, family, neighbours and nations lives.

The logical extension of that is when all the titans are finally eradicated (they are) and there is still existential threats to humanity, that Eren would eliminate those as well.

I'd say Eren is just a logically consistent character who wants to protect those around him no matter the cost

And.I.Don't.Blame.Him. :)

The contrast between the flashback and the current situation is crazy. The gang crossed the sea, everyone is in awe, except Eren - who only saw all those people that he knew he was going to kill in the future. Hits hard

Facepalmed at Mikasa’s answer, like girl that was the perfect chance to be honest with your feelings… but whatever

Last few minutes were insane. The OST’s were amazing. Eren’s quote “I will exterminate them all…” was a cherry on top, it’s actually terrifying

Just relax lol.

I understand part of what you're saying, I'm not a manga reader either, but i guess we're from different generations. At least theyre taking the necessary time to focus on animation quality and source material faithfulness. If Attack on Titan was written 10 years earlier, it'd be inundated with literal useless filler, and probably it'd have been airing for 9 years straight by now lol.

Other than that I mean I can help answer any of your actual plot questions.

for sure yes, i really appreciate that this isnt overrun with filler episodes. the animation has also been amazing as well - if there's a really impressive scene with really great animation i sometimes rewatch it 2 or 3 times haha. i was actually thinking of that while ranting in my earlier post. i've read a bit about the problems with the anime industry (like underpaid and overworked staff) so i always feel bad & hypocritical for complaining, but this time i just really needed to get that off my chest

i kind of have 2 problems which have really just been building up: 1) i have unintentionally been seeing countless spoilers for years now. on top of death spoilers (sasha's death, for one, was spoiled for me less than 24h after the chapter came out) and just general plot point spoilers, i also saw a spoiler for the ending with 0 context. i just want to hurry up and get past the spoilers i've seen. this is all on me though for not being careful enough online; 2) these final season parts being labelled as "parts" is driving me bananas. there are other shows i watch where i wait months/years between seasons, but thats bc theyre labelled as seasons. this being labelled as the "final season" is frustrating to me because i keep thinking its gonna end, then it doesnt. but i get what they're doing now, so if there ends up being a final season: part 4 (hopefully not though), i would understand

thanks so much for offering to answer my questions! i'll be honest though, i need a detailed recap of everything after s1 (which is why i'm turning to the manga now). i do have one thing thats been bugging me if you could help me out: i don't understand anything about floch. like who was he? what exactly was he doing? for lack of a better term, was he a bad/evil guy?

That would partly help, I wouldnt get my hopes up that the conclusion is finally here but whether its called seasons or parts, its just too many and dividing the season up this much detracts from things like the flow and beats of the story, something important when you are concluding a story.

Guess i need to set a reminder to rewatch part 1 & 2 before part 3 comes out.
