Well damn, after being such a disappointment, season 2 ends with perfect 10/10 episode. Still wouldn't rank season 2 higher than 6/10, painfully mediocre, but last episode really gives me hope things will get better in season 3. |

The finale was awesome! Had a great number of interactions and I shed some manly tears, but overall, the anime was pretty enjoyable. I rated the first season an 8, but for me, I still liked the first season better, but i will for sure keep watching the show whenever they release Season 2 down the line. 7/10! I haven't cried in awhile, so I needed this, lol |

Lmao wtf after all that goin on before, they were still meet face to face, eye to an eye, even almost reach each other hand, if there's no that cut. Goddamned it. I thought there's no chance for them! Holy shit man what a prankster. But in a good way, honestly. Then those selfie photo from Frederica. Chef kiss. Very rollercoaster first season and ended up as a dramatically fun ride, indeed. And its not even the true end, for the overarching story. Imagine if i am binging this in one gulp, rather than forcing myself waiting frickin three month to see this final. Not to mention how long i need to wait for the next continuations. Oh wow, there's still a long way to go of fuckin course! At the end, i thought i am losing my hope. But this final vanish all my doubt in an instant and i think its understandable to slap this with 8. If only there's no delay and lot of schedule troble with recaps, ill gladly slap this with my 9, or even 10 because of Frederica sake too. However, nope, i am still looking for more perfection later over this edgy mecha drama the series. That's it all, and moving on to the spring season! |

i feel like i'm the only one that didn't like the last few minutes of it. They slipped in that little romantic bit at the end when there was zero development between them throughout the seaskn. there was a period of like,, 4 episodes at a time without lena in it and the only times she showed up was when the 86 were thinking about meeting her or when her country was getting wiped of the face of the planet. maybe i'm just a hater though LOL |

But there was some signs here and there about their close relationship. - Ep 2 : 17:11, she has the heartbeat speeding up thinking about Shin, she's quite impressed about him. - Ep 5 : 10:09, she's imagining herself with Shin lol... - Ep 6 : 21:49, she is saying that he's someone special for her (with the heartbeat sound in the background that maybe Shin noticed lol - Ep 7 : 8:39, Shin is calling her as he's worried about Lena not calling him - Ep 7 : 10:57, "Will you remember us ?" - Ep 8 : 17:23, He's putting the pig ball in the office box that the cat is playing with in order to make her looking at it if she does come here. - Ep 9 : 21:25, "we're going on ahead, major", he's the only one not ignoring her. - Ep 10 : 21:45, during Fido's flashbacks, he asked her to survive until they meet. And in addition to all of that, you have to remember that the story in the San Magnolia Republic began around May 2148 to October 2148 and she was calling them every day, every evenings, especially Undertaker. The show is only showing us some days they had together if you look closely to dates. They had a really close relationship. For example, you can see him chatting with her in ep 7 (14:38) as Kurena is wondering who will be taking care of Shin. Moreover, this can be realistic as Shin is a really reserved boy. He seems to keep distances with others as he's thinking them as people who are going to left him. In order to escape further pain, he just stays distant. However, with Lena, as someone who's really kind (and also badass), he found someone to speak with and share times and opinions, he may fall in love with her without expressing it explicitly. |

Finallly !!! we come to an end (hopefully more sequels to come !!!!) Ernst and Theresa welcoming Spearhead Boys & Girls While giving christmas gift to them, poor Frederica still on punishment XD. Calm and Relaxing BGM while seeing them enjoying normal everydays life. Ernst made them as Special Independent Units. Waiting for their soon to be commander to fill the commander position (We could already expect the person tho XD). Shin visiting Eugene grave, told him some battlefield story and told him that he finally found his reason to fight. He also found the letter that written by Nina, Eugene lil sister near the grave. He also met Marcel there too just when he was going to back. Marcel apologize to Shin as he kept blaming him all this time for Eugene death. As Shin went back he just barely met Nina as he actually left a photo of him and Eugene. Finally in the distance Nina said thanks to him. Theo repaint the marks in the squads units. As "Avid" Tick in Shin finally put his brother pieces into the box and finally can put an end of his "Grim Reaper" purpose into it as He is now believe that he isn't alone anymore. He got friends who'll never leave him, He got someone who happy with his existence. He can put an end into it as he won't ever forget his fallen comrades, Because he is "Grim Reaper". "Keep fighting, as we can't achieve our dream as long as Legion still chaining us in this world, for the sake of one who had fallen, for the sake of one who still fighting, and.. for the sake of Her" (We know exactly whos "Her" referring to rite :DDD) Scene moving to Lena. Back in the San Magnolia ruin, her room precisely. She took the mini picture of Her previous squad (Shin & co.) pleading to never forget them and 86 and Visit her dad grave to tell the story about what happen until now and the aftermath of San Magnolia. Meanwhile in her higher up office, pretending to act good toward her upon her achievement as she'll be send to Giad Federation as the commander of squad. She also had a little time with Annette while doin some health check. Annette also realized that Federation comm had same main component as the original Para-RAID that her family invented.Well... that certainly true tho.... when they know the truth later XD... Dustin also got few second screentime here drawing on the stone tablet alongside Lena's friend. As Lena discussed with Willem, we got a glimpse of "Strike Package 86 squad" some member name including some from Lena squad, Brisingamen. Before leaving for Federation she told her uncle spirit to give her more time for her dream to be realized as she'll keep chasing it until her dream really destroyed. As she arrived in Federation "Kyoukaisen" tick in. Ernst showed her the 86 memorial. She paid the respect while uttering no not ever forgotten them until she reach the end . For the sake of finishing her fight and for the sake of survive. anddd......the most awaiting moment in this peak episode.... from Fido POV... "LiLas" ticking in to the scene few words from each of them... Raiden that curious of Lena expression knowing the truth, Anju that curious with the cat that finally raised by Lena, and hilarious one by Theo who draw 3 picture representation of Lena, 1st is kida like white pig he drew before, 2nd Lena riding on the pig charging with Shin(TBH this was cute tho XD), and my favorite one the 3rd one ShinLena !!!!!, Picture of Lena seducing Shin and he blushed and had a nosebleed XD. Next would be Kurena getting jelly seeing the picture and believing Lena'll be considered as lil sis too as she is XD(no no He'll crazy over Lena) hahaha.. Meanwhile Daddy Ernst picturing the moment while willem tried to order to Fido watched by Grethe and Richard. Frederica got caught by Fido as she tried to making a surprise. As Shin running to their meeting position we could see glimpse of Shin from baby to now. and...finally the moment of truth... as Lena arrive and both of them giving their salute while introducing toward each other. other 4 couldn't hold their grin and laughter seeing Lena confused that Shin said they already know each other even it was first time they seeing face to face.... and finally he said " long time no see handler one" much to even Lena confused face :D .... and.. when he mention his name... everybody look at them with bright smile... as "LiLas" chorus tick in Lena utter his name while Burst into tears... They smiled toward each other afterward bathing in those happiness. as TP(the cat name) and Fido went toward them Shin lengthtening His hand toward Lena (He already protective since their face to face 1st meeting XD). Finally Lena also get to know Raiden ,Theo, Anju, and Kurena. As Frederica ask them to took photo together and They standing together beyond the horizon while everybody holding their each mini-picture. now Finally they can fight together side by side. This beautiful moment ended with shade of Shin & Lena hands that shaped "86". I lost word in this beautiful moment... I also burst into tears tho hahaha... this long awaited moment.. the final peak for the adaptation... Final Artwork represent their photo together is beautiful, i wonder if the physical version will be for sale officially. Well it seems gonna be long post XD... Finally they adapted vol 1 epilogue :D For me it was a perfect adaptation. as i can see rather than adapting it by source volume order, they adapted it by chronological order. That's why we can see like vol 2 chapter 1 adapted later on and obviously the epilogue too. and for me it was a great approach. Prop to Toshimasa Ishii for doing his 1st time directing both cour of 86. He did outstanding job. I liked they way how he directing things in this. The transition, story telling. loved the way the put pararellism between Shin and Lena scene. The flashbacks were quite a lot but i think that was okay for me. Character development and Building were great. Emotions and Feels properly delivered for me. I can feel the despair, the joy, the sadness, etc.. The Dialogues were also great. The action-side was wonderful, CGI action was great IMO, The mech design was beautiful and cool, battle BGM and audio design really fitted into the scene. VA's were doing Marvelous job here, Characters Emotions properly delivered. Marvelous Music, BGM, Audio/Sound design. Loved every OP and ED maybe for Production, resultwise is amazing but schedulewise kinda .. lil bit u know haha.. Can't really said much tho that was really hard work for everyone contributed in this. fortunately despite after 1 month skip the final 2 episode was really outstanding for me. With the success, i really have a big hope and wishing for them to keep adapting as LN also still ongoing. I hope to see great announcement later in the 86 anniversary later on April 10. Thanks for the marvelous adaptation studio A-1, Asato-sensei, Shirabi-sensei and team for making this wonderful story. the whole VA, Staffs and for everybody working and contributing in this adaptation Well i am already a 86 die-hard fans for me both source and adaptation were masterpiece, glad being be able to read and watch it. I hope i still alive to see /read the ending of this beautiful story and watching it fully adapted. OFC 10/10 for me :D |

I honestly thought, while watching this, that it was going to be yet another "cliffhanger" ending. Well, I was wrong on that, wasn't I? It wasn't. Lena exits the memorial, having left behind most of the burdens she carries. But she could not yet let go the memory of the five she ordered, not just into battle, but to their certain death. And one of them being, quite possibly, the one she cared about the most of all. Then, she meets up with her new command. And her thoughts are captured perfectly by the motion of her hand. First, the squadron salutes her. She returns the salute, and says that she is honored to meet them. Nothing unexpected there. But then, protocol gets broken. Instead of the squadron commander returning the greeting, he tells her that she is wrong; they are not meeting for the first time. Her hand falls a bit from her salute as she tries to figure out what he might mean. Then he calls her "Handler One". Her hand drops further. And you can see on her face that she still wouldn't dare to hope. "It couldn't be...". She had already suspected a little when she was told that the 86 must have made it to Giad for the technology to be there, but hey, they could have found a Para-RAID in a wreck. It couldn't possibly be. Then, the shot right to the heart. Shin tells her who he is. And the one thing she didn't ever dare to hope has come true. She sent him, not to his death, but to his escape. Against all odds, he made it, and now she's looking him in the face. Her final burden is lifted into the wind. Then she finds that not only did Shin survive. They all did. She didn't kill them. She put them forth to a better life, and now she can live it with them. This has to be one of the best done endings I have seen in a long time. I certainly hope for more 86, but even if there isn't, this would have been a satisfactory way to end it. With so many anime series now ending in an infuriating "But you forgot to write the ending!", this one stands out as having done it right. A 10/10, or perhaps, an 8/6. But regardless, flawlessly done. |

Lena couldn't let go of the fives still probably because she couldn't find the name of Shin and the rest on the board. She probably thinks that 5 of them died together there without anyone to know or remember their names. After all, Shin can't engrave his own name if he is dead, same as the other 4 if they died together. That's why she told herself she won't forget 5 times, to each of them, and still carries 5 drawings of them with her. |

That was a great reunion at the end. If only they didn't do such cliche bullshit last episode just so they could hold off on the reveal until this point I would be happier with it. |

It took me a while to get to these last three episodes, I even rewatched the second half before getting to them and I all I can say is that this was incredible. Fantastic directing throughout the entire show, I was bawling me eyes out during Shin's meeting with Lena on the battlefield and now even more during the official meeting as they fight together again. Both this meeting and the one on the battlefield are such wholesome, poignant cathartic moments. Everything that's been building up over the show just collapses into one of the beautiful sequences I've seen in a very long time. Shin's descent into madness being saved by the words of the one he saved earlier is almost poetic. The official meeting had me grinning much like Shin itself along with Lena's tears, it's almost even embarrassing to write what I was feeling but it truly was such a incredible scene, so much pay off. The insert song was so beautiful, I'm gonna be listening for a while now. Overall, I have absolutely no bad things to say about 86, it's fantastic, one of the best new shows I've seen in a very long time. Lena has become one of my favorite characters of all time and Shin is close too, the story is fantastic. The character growth is stunning for a 2 cour show, Lena's growth is inspiring and Shin's is cathartic in many ways. The production was stunning in all fronts, thank you A-1 for making this. I hope we get another season, I will remember 86 for years to come. 10/10, until we meet again Handler One and the Eighty Six. |

But she could not yet let go the memory of the five she ordered, not just into battle, but to their certain death. And one of them being, quite possibly, the one she cared about the most of all. It's implied that she sees the wrecks of the other four's units there. They're in the memorial, too, and it shows all of their logos, so I think that's her seeing them. And of course, she sees Shin's box as well, and he had told her about it. She would have known what that was. So, I think she thought they died, and that maybe no one knew their name, but that someone had at least found something from all five of them to place in the memorial. Though, I had not thought of the significance of her "I won't forget" five times. I think you're exactly right about that; she was promising it to each of them. |
