Really great season finale! It has been a treat from beginning to end. Not only do we get fluff, we also get plot (not the plot you are thinking of). It's a really beautiful story, and the day Bocchan finally breaks his curse, is the day we celebrate.

I really loved how Bocchan defended his love for Alice in front of his mother, made me tear up. Surprised that Sharon affected Bocchan's mother that much, from a cheerful lady to a tsundere mom. Can't wait for the second season, though I am gonna start reading the manga. 8.5/10

So this is where the season ends... I am really hyped for season 2 and can't wait to see what Bocchan, Alice and their allies have in mind to break the curse, as well as Walter, who probably wants to win the competition.

The part I enjoyed the most about this episode was Bocchan putting up a fight against his mother. That was a bold and admirable move, and I believe his mother knew that too.

I just love how straightforward and honest Bocchan is about his love for Alice. I thought my heart was gonna burst when he stood up to his mother & told her that he plans to marry Alice! It was the perfect way to end the season.

I'm so relieved there's going to be another season cause I just need more Bocchan x Alice moments & imo this is one of the best anime of the season even though it's gone under the radar!

It was so shocking to see Bocchan speak up like that. What I liked the most is that Bocchan didn't just speak up for himself but for Viola and Walter too, he really is a nice older brother.

And it seems like the mother is not that bad of a person either like how Viola described her. The smile she gave showed that she could be a caring mother. It could be that Sharon's death had an impact on her that changed her into a really strict person.

The day Bocchan was cursed, it looks like it could be the same day those two white nun habits visited the Mansion. After comparing the voices of the witch who cursed Bocchan and Daleth, it seems the one who cursed Bocchan could be the other witch who came along with Daleth. My guess is that, Sharon probably saw the witch cursing Bocchan from behind and was on her way to inform the mother but Daleth stopped her and captured her by making up the story that Sharon's dead. As for the cursing witch, she probably had something going on with the dad and cursed Bocchan out of jealousy.

Anyway, it was a good ride. I actually enjoyed it more than I expected. Even though the animation was a disappointment, the characters, the story and the music helped me to overlook the animation.

Can't wait for season 2. Really looking forward to know how they will break the curse in such a short period of time. Even though the 2nd season will come out soon, I'll really miss Alice, she's just so adorable, really makes you want to have a maid or a friend like her.

Overall 8/10

Don't tell me Sharon did curse that innocent boy, no matter who did it, it makes little sense!
I don't think Bocchan did anything to deserve that.

Maybe this anime is about wicked mums...

Mama Bocchan is really mean and crazy. I was glad that Bocchan, gave her an earful of truth,
no one takes Alice away from him anymore.
The mum was so emotionally cold looking, although she was slightly impressed that her son has passion.
I guess she herself is completely empty inside and can hardly deal with other peoples feelings.

Overall this was a perfect example for an romantic anime on a relatively small stage. I also liked the goth elements. I like Alice and Bocchan a lot, a really cute couple, they are great match and the chemistry is very good. Great that they let the main characters perform the ED and OP songs, the musical scenes were lovely.
bonus points for Mano, Ayumi as Alice, her voice acting was outstanding.

The CG was ok, it wasn't that terrible, but I prefer it the traditional way honestly.

I'm looking forward to season 2.

I really liked that ending. Obviously I'd like to see him break curse, but that was expected it won't happen so fast. With protagonist being always so timid I got surprised that he talked back - it sure felt good to see him make a stand.
This anime was rather boring in the first part and even Alice barely carried it. Only after more characters started appearing it gained some momentum. Now I'd gladly watch more.

One of the best OP of the season - great idea (with both main VAs singing) and execution, really shows how Alice and Bocchan are into each other.
Romantic and comedy sides was good too, never felt like any of the episodes was dragging on forever.
Don't care about CG as long as it's well executed and blended. Nice painting-styled backgrounds. Totally deserved second season/or whatever they are doing.
I totally agree about the OP,it was superbly done, but I like the ED better, its such a good song and I love the way Alice's CV sings.
As for the animation,it didn't really bother me since I liked the way KOS was done and this was similarly done,in a way.
I also thought the character interactions were really well done, and little things I noticed surprised me as well.
All in all,an excellent series, and hopefully the next will be at least as good,or better!

I LOVED IT, it was jus simply what i asked for, a true, not boring love story thar develops in the most organic way possible, without unnecesary drama or anything like that. I love the development of the Duke, he's my true gentleman model just after Jonnathan. I'm pretty hyped for the next season!! Bocchan i love you

Ohhhh they announced the sequel! I don't have any expectation in the show but surprisingly, I enjoy it. I like the songs, characters (except the nun) and the 3D is okay. I didn't expect to like Viola and Walter because the first time I saw them, I thought they are evil siblings lol but I like them, Walter is funny. I really like Cuff and Zain, My favorite couple. Duke live in isolation without his family but living with Alice and Rob seems pretty chill life, it's better than living in their mansion. 7/10

Ah final episode. It was very tense. The story is far from over but this was one of the best ways to end the season I think. I regret not watching this anime sooner.

The lady of the house and Sharon used to be friends huh? Viola and Walter's mother probably isn't a bad person, the loss of her favorite maid and the stress of electing a inheritor while her husband is dying probably has a great deal of negative effect. Still her rejection of Bocchan's feelings for Alice and upholding the typical aristocrat mindset probably won't do her any favors. I loved the delivery of Bocchan's retort. It was amazing.

I wish more people would give this anime a chance instead of sleeping on it. I think too many people got turned off by the CGI in the first place which is sad. This anime was a lot better than I expected. But I doubt being 2D would "improve" it by much. Heck I don't think it's better or worse for being 99% CGI either. The story elements are relatively safe for a CGI or 2D adaptation anyway. Being CGI probably made it stand out but maybe not in a good way for people who only watched first episode. Honestly you get used to it. There wasn't any moment where I thought "this scene looked bad in CGI, I wish this was 2D instead", in fact there are some scenes that I think work better in 3D.

The story of this anime is quite simple but there is some actual depth to it which I didn't expect. There are many moments from like episode 2-9 that I probably will forget but I won't forget the main plot easily just cause how simple and unique it is. It balances serious plot and comedy quite well and even in serious moments it can sneak in a few jokes and make the situation not feel dampened by it. The OP and ED are so catchy, might be some of my favorite anisongs sung by seiyuus. Definitely some of my highlights of the show. There aren't many side-characters but the ones there are actually do something and don't feel like they're wasting time by sticking around beyond the time they were introduced. It's very cool.

I'm so happy that season 2 is already confirmed. But it's unknown when it might air. I think the animators at J.C Staff should up their game and deliver an even better season next. Make it truly stand out.

Since season 2 may be a while away let me recommend a series that might satisfy your urges for now: Taishou Otome Otogibanashi

Overall Not A Fan Of The Duke / Maid Romance, It Is The Same Boring Thing Over And Over And Over etc.
I Did Like The Other Characters Though, At Least With Them There Was A Chance For The Story To Progress.

I mean, it was ok but I'm a bit disappointed with the drama in this anime. Sure, the Duke life is sad but I'm pretty sure I could take his curse more seriously if he would have accidentally killed a person with it, not just an animal and plants. You can create more interesting stories, his character development would be more convincing and you don't make the mom unnecessarily harsh. Comedy is just a hit or miss honestly. The romance was ok? Idk, Alice is interesting for the most part.

5/10 for the anime.

I love how multi-faceted the characters are. Honestly, aside from the skull face woman (who has albeit also shown some appealing attributes), there hasn't really been one antagonistic character. I honestly don't know the mom's agenda -- she's quite mysterious -- but throughout the entire series, not once did I think she was evil or mean-spirited. When first introduced, and she called the Duke a "death incarnate" and stopped contacting him, I thought she was all that stuff. But via all the dinner scenes and miscellaneous stuff, she just turned out to be slightly cold-hearted and callous. I like the very, very subtle implications that she's not wicked. If she was, she wouldn't have said Viola looked good after changing into a dress. And if she was, she'd do everything in her power to forbid Viola and Walter from visiting the villa. She is angered by it and disapproves, but I like the implication that her children have some freedom. I don't know if the mother is an "antagonist", but regardless, I definitely like her character as it is now, and think she's written well. If she were any softer, the series would lose its edge -- but if she was any harsher, she'd fall into the stereotypical villain category. But like I said, every character is multi-faceted. None of them show exclusively one trope. Pretty much every main or recurring character has shown some form of affection, along with happiness, sadness, irritation or anger -- as well as wisdom as well as naivety. Every character has strengths, but they've all got flaws. None of them are overly perfect. None of them are overly flawed. The creators of the franchise really knew how to make the characters immersive and somewhat realistic while also being entertaining.

After the first two episodes, I had this series ranked at a 6/10. The first episode was effective in introducing the plot, but very bland (even for "slice of life" standards, if you could call this show that) - and almost poorly written: not with inconsistencies, but it felt very very amateur. But after getting midway into the series, the story found its footing. It walked a fine line between being episodic while also having a steady plot progression. There are standalone scenes with comedy or wholesomeness or whatever, but we also slowly find out more and more about the world. Little by little. By the end, I was at peak immersion. Maybe the show isn't a 10, and I'm afraid 9 would be pushing it (although I'm tempted to rate it that). But nothing less than an 8/10, from me. The show accomplished what it was trying to accomplish. And if renewed for a second season, there's so much more to learn about. Yet, season one definitely had a feeling of completion and temporary closure.

The animation? Interesting. The only anime I've ever seen pull this type of 2.5D medium off is Land of Lustrous. I was skeptical at first glance, because I along with pretty much everyone else do not like 3D anime and prefer the traditional medium. But honestly, it works in this show's favor. I hope this style doesn't become the mainstream or go-to in the future... but I can let it slide for this show, exclusively, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Strangely enough, I think there's a charm to the SLIGHT stiffness of the characters bodies and faces. I can't put my finger on it... it's like the characters are doll-like, and sometimes lag when they move. But there's something really cute about it. And on top of that charm, and in spite of that factor, the characters are still very very expressive. Their faces, their body language, and of course their voices. I think the character of Walter is a prime example. I always loved his strange body movements. Like when he was with Viola in the attic, or when he tripped and fell into the Christmas tree, or when we first saw him and he was crawling around on the floor...

Walter's definitely a standout character lol. Idk why he's so laughable. I don't know if Viola classifies as slightly "tsundere", but I'm usually not a fan of her character type. But I eventually grew to like Viola a lot. The Cuff and Zain character additions were also beneficial. I like how Cuff is dense, but not stupid. She's absentminded and kinda slow, but she's competent and seems dependable. Zain embodies the classic perv trope you see in anime, but it's perfectly balanced out with him being well-meaning. That scene on the roof was pretty well-done; I loved the exchange when the Duke found out he stole the logbook.

Rob's also a nice character. Seems like he's got potential for character exploration too. I like how he's a friend to the other characters, but can at times show signs of naivety and wisdom, clumsiness and/or overwhelming competence, worry, relief, and even anger. I worried that he'd just be this gag character that'd only pop up for a few seconds every now and then and contribute nothing to the scene. But, like I said, there's plenty of potential to impact the plot, i.e. him knowing Alice's mother. He showed up a lot more than I thought he would throughout these episodes, and I never quite knew what to expect, but I found him to be a good character too.

I've already voiced my approval of the MC in other posts. But to reiterate... he is the ideal MC. Perfect, from a storywriting perspective. His default mood is pleasant and polite. But he seems capable of emitting just about any emotion you can think of, except for genuine mean-spiritedness. From extreme angst and depression, to pure anger (albeit not anymore, but intriguingly in flashbacks), irritability, childishness, maturity, clumsiness, talent, lust, bashfulness but also straightforwardness. In fact, that's one of my favorite aspects. I've grown sick of the "does she love me? does she love me not?" trope in every slice-of-life, where it's just a back-and-forth with no progression until the very last episode. But since the beginning, both the Duke and Alice were honest about their feelings for each other from the get-go; yet, progression still somehow occurred, with them expressing their love in a more serious manner gradually throughout, with a slightly increasing frequency. It's refreshing seeing a character be able to just say "I love you" or "I care for you", with neither party falling silent and blushing to oblivion. There IS a time and place for tropes like that, but it's a resounding rarity to see a departure from that trend in a lighthearted comedy/romance/slice-of-life anime.

Throw some slight tragedy elements in there, a historic theme (Victorian, perhaps?), and some supernatural elements as well..... and you have quite a unique anime. At least compared to its current contemporaries. Loved the overall vibe. I look forward to potentially more in the future. This was a time-well-spent binge.

MAN THIS SHOW TOO CUTE. Ok well overall the forbidden love thing is not new. I have not seen in this format however with a death curse. There is still mystery involved with the curse and Alice's mom. Also his mom was acting a lil sus too. The Cgi was actually really well done in my opinion. Not like movie theater super high production value good but in a sense that it was not distracting or hindering the story.

Story was fine, characters are interesting, the CG is... acceptable. Definitely would've preferred this in 2D, it feels a bit stale and lifeless. 5/10

As a fellow guy who has not felt a woman's touch in years, I wish I had someone like Alice to keep me comfort (โ‡€โ€ธโ†ผโ€ถ) but still lovely to see the romantic and sometimes even lewd (like almost holding hands) moments between her and the young Duke.

This was a really strong finale, almost felt like upping the score for S1.
I do like some of Alice teasings, but there are also many more okayish moments to this series (and if I have to be honest, seeing the manga art, this should would have look better with proper animation, which is something the studios doing this dunno about, so maybe this was for the best).

Interested to see where the story goes, there is tons of potential here to fulfill, but S1 was a good start.
