Slime and Tensei both did something well. Tensei followed a somewhat generic plotline (with decent twists) but did so perfectly and should be looked at as an example on how the generic plotline should be done. Slime did the generic harem power-MC but did something cool about it by following him on a journey to build a nation from scratch.

This show does... nothing, and it does it poorly.
Main character has the exact design of Kirito from SAO.
After the most forced "escape" from the school he becomes shield-kun from Shield hero and adopts a slave-girl that looks exactly as Raf from that show.
The fights are so dumb you have to laugh, they literally loop the same animation shamelessly over and over (see fight with taurus early on). When they have actual non-repeated animations it looks like still images stop-motioned across the screen with loud shouts to make it seem more animated.
The characters are the most one dimensional I've ever seen.
5 years time skip in the first episode and everything is exactly the same but everyone is a little larger, when even before the time skip he had managed to become the best at everything in his class? dumb.
The kidnapping in the first episode is so dumb I almost cried. It comes down to someone kidnapping and torturing someone because they didn't let him finish a sentence. And it happens again in ep. 5. "say this exact thing I made up or I'll keep hitting you with a stick!" "but I'm telling you this is what happene...." *stick* - repeat. So dumb. Nowhere in real life have I ever met anyone who so quickly resorts to a rage-induced violence for the dumbest of no reason as every single character, except the harem-girls, in this show.

If there ever has been a dumpster fire of a show, this one is it. Complete trash. Don't watch it, your instincts are correct.
Giving a show more than a few episodes isn't necessary to determine the quality of what you are watching.

All this proves is that MAL scores means nothing and should be completely ignored.

This show is just the ABSOLUTE TRASH of a rip-off of so many Isekai we've seen in recent years. I'm not sorry to say that Seirei Gensouki is just the 3Bs: BORING, BLAND and BANAUSIC.
