And you want some bystander calling the cops?

(Adult male disappears into bathroom stall with high school girl...in uniform. Yes, officer, that stall right there!)

Plus if Sayu's mom found out.....any nice feelings towards Yoshida would end, and she would call the cops on him. Just to PUNISH sayu.

Calm down, bro. It's a joke considering how horny Sayu was to the very end the night before. Yoshida would have course turned her down.

I know...
But seriously, I have the feeling poor old Yoshida always had one eye open for the cops, just in case....

That was a good ending. I found the first half of this series to be more entertaining over the cheap ass drama bs towards the end. Everything about Sayu's past, the reason for her leaving home and the supposedly perfect kind brother who is mega dumb enough to give allowance to his beloved teenage sister, send her away into the streets and not even look for her whereabouts after losing contact with her is just unbelievable. I expected a much darker past (like child abuse or rape victim) for someone to end up like Sayu but there was nothing in her past that can properly justify her running away and ending up selling her body to survive.

All that said, the anime was not as terrible as those elite anime critics with their 'hey look I just gave this anime a 1-3 score, am I cool or what' make it out to be. I loved Yoshida's character and his colleagues at work were all interesting people. Asami was also a cool character. And their daily life was also entertaining to watch. Overall, I'd give this anime a 7/10.

Yoshida is the "must protect" meme personified.
Sayu is cute, her friend too.

Higehiro manga/LN are a bit darker than the anime, so it's worth it reading them.

I'll give this a 7/10.

Sayu is 17.

The Japanese law before 2018 allowed female minors to be at least 16 before they can marry with parental permission (18 for males), and 20 for all genders to marry without parental permission.

Though by 2018, there was a bill on the table which would have set a minimum age of marriage for all genders at 18. Don't know if they passed it.

But yeah, it used to be quite common (Maison Ikkoku has the main female character getting married at 16, and widowed by 19. Hanamaru kindergarten has a senpai and former crush of the main character marrying at 17 to one of her teachers then...who at the time the series kicks off is a professional artist...and she may have even been pregnant by then!..but these are old manga and anime...MI is from the 1980's)

I like it in the end and glad Yoshida made the correct choices.
Its a 7/10 and I would like to see a OVA for sequel to see if Sayu(legal age) does go out with Yoshida or does he pick someone else.

The bed scene which Sayu offered sex so that Yoshida can remember her. I feel Sayu uses Sex as a way to remember or weapon.

Sorry I disagree with this

I would have liked this show more if it had the balls to be what it really was, an adult male harem fantasy. So all that pretending to be a father figure was to appease the mom (and the audience) so he could get away with banging her when she turned 18. should have just slept with her in ep 1 then and not wasted our time. <_<

4.Sayu is still very much a little girl. And very very immature. Yoshida at the time preferred older ladies. And even if he was into JK...see the above reasons.

2 years later and she is still immature, now she is just "legal". So no difference in my book.

So Mishima & Gotou are basically still into Yoshida, lol, talk about no closure offered to them, especially Gotou whom author kind of just, forgot about after a while, but Yoshida doesn't turn them down either...

Then it just ends when Sayu returns, basically implying? a potential romance between her & Yoshida (LN might've made it feel like that more from what I noticed), but no confirmation either. Like I'm sorry, but I dislike this "playing it safe" . If the author's gonna touch on controversial topics, then I'd rather he goes ham and doesn't leave these kind-of-open-endings.

The attempt at romance between Yoshida x Sayu, but never in full either, is something I'd rather do w/o. I dislike how the narrative has Yoshida act all preachy & shit, saying how he's not into her, but he legit starts falling for her, EVEN THOUGH he'd have two other options available if being lonely and seeking some romance were what he wanted - Mishima & Gotou - and alright, Mishima wasn't his type so fair on her side, but he sure claimed Airi was. But as I mentioned, the author just kind seemed to have conveniently forgotten about that part as we neither see Yoshida turn her down and tell her he's more into Sayu now, nor Airi confess to him so that then he'd have to reveal where he stands. It feels like the author's just avoiding bringing closure to plot points he himself set up ~ not a fan when that happens.

Having read Velvet Kiss (which is just 32 ch), I'd say that one handled itself much better. It felt much more honest with itself regarding the story it wanted to tell.

On the plus side, the main plot point of helping Sayu with her issues and helping her get her life back on track, smoothing things with her family, etc, was resolved so there's that. I know some were disappointed at her backstory but honestly it was enough for me.

Ultimately, I still enjoyed HigeHiro to an extent but I think I raised my expectations a bit too high initially and idk why I did that tbh, I should've kept 'em in check so guess it's my L.

It's its own usual weird but wholesome self, and I'd be lying if I said it didn't give me any feels at all whatsoever. I don't have any of the usual complaints against this show, I'm not going to overreact about the "pedo" elements here. Even still, I don't think it's that great at all. The wholesome moments did indeed do it for me, but apart from that, it's a 2 or 3/10 anime.

8/10 however, if they actually banged. 9/10 if the mom walks in while they are doing it. 10/10 if she joins them LOL

Yoshida turning down money from rich people even though they insist on giving it to him as a gift. Ok man. And it's been mentioned already, but the older brother is indeed kind of sus.... yeah sure it's an anime but him just straight up saying that age is just a number was kind of funny lol. But if the creator genuinely thinks this way, then it's slightly disturbing to say the least....

I do like how they showed yoshida sort of breaking down when he returns to his apartment. I think they should've dwelt more on that moment.

Overall, 2/10, because I really didn't like the animation, felt sort of lazily put together imo. But mainly it's because they didn't bang. No balls, no high score

Asami (I actually miss that Blond look of her) was the MVP this episode by setting up Yoshida's second meeting Sayu.

As much as I really enjoyed this show, I can't help but feel a bit let down with the way they ended it. It feels like an anti climax in the end. I love the moment that Sayu is sitting again under that lamppost was a nice touch to their first time meeting, but where I was expecting a confession from Yoshida (or a kiss), it didn't happen. I am just left here thinking there's more to cover, while there isn't.

For a show that tried to tackle a very serious subject, I think it did a good job portraying it. Especially with Yoshida being a chad and not giving in on Sayu's advances, even up to the very end when she tried it again. It was a bumpy ride and I will miss this dynamic between Yoshida and Sayu.
8/10 and that's me being generous, cause there were a few iffy moments that should have knocked the score down a bit more.

Give me a break... they went home from the street corner where they first met, together. You've got to apply some tough mental gymnastics to think they did anything other than hot sex all night after that and she stayed at his place for good.

That's not an ambiguous ending at all. Anything further than that would've been just unnecessarily spoon-feeding the audience.

If we were talking about woman in the west you'd be right, but a guy in the west? He probably wouldn't have much choice in keeping a place in his heart considering how badly skewed the dating game is against all but the top 10% of men (high status, looks etc).

Reminds me of a real-life JD I knew throughout my college years. When I first met her she was full on gyaru with the tanned skin and dyed blonde hair. By my last year her hair was natural black, her skin was lighter and she was wearing more modest clothing. I guess that's just how it goes.

I can tell you probably don't date a lot. Red pill talking points aside, western guys would've been just as impatient. It has nothing to do with gender dynamics in 2021.

Yes, they became a couple and she moved in with him for good. Come on guys, it's not rocket science. The director couldn't have made it clearer than that without saying it directly.

All I cared for ever since episode 1 is that Sayu ends up with Yoshida, and I'm glad to see it actually happened within reasonable time (1-2 years, not like half a decade). I was afraid that he would've had to wait for her to also go through college...

I was glad to see she got her ass back to Tokyo for him, once she graduated from high school. Although high school diplomas are practically worthless today, it would've still been a huge problem if she moved in with him without having one. At least now, they can get married or whatever and she can calmly go to college in Tokyo. Or do whatever else she wanted, IDC.

I loved this anime! Don't care about the hate. It was very sweet, albeit the flaws.
Emmuhzx said:
Anyone think we'll get a season 2?
They animated the entire light novel of 6 volumes. So there's no more.

I believe we're still in volume 5, but the author already said that volume 6 will be the last. So that's how it basically ends. I guess you could always read it, as they probably left little things out in the anime adaptation. To get the whole picture.

But honestly, what else could we wish for!?
Sayu got together with Yoshida, as an adult, this time around. It's not like we've got one of those s---ty ambiguous endings where it was left to our imagination.
Thank you that's helpful

Could have been better but at least it wasnt bad. I am so pissed that they kept bowing and trying to appease to Sayu’s mom, she’s a fuckin bitch! and I hate how not her bro nor her bitch ass of a mom found out the shit Sayu has been through ever since leaving. I am sorry but I hate her mom so damn much.
Anyways other than that I find it funny how Sayu still wanted to bang with Yoshida and used the “so we dont forget each other” line, after being rejected she still wouldnt give up and still wanted to have her tits groped, girl was persistent, if anything Im surprised they didnt kiss, was expecting something from all that pent up feelings Yoshida has been denying.
Sayu’s confession was ayt, and I find it funny how the anime purely focused on Sayu and skipped some characters arc to finish her arc. We went full circle with the ending and they ended it with how they met. Also Asami’s hair isnt blonde gal anymore.
Overall an enjoyable ride.
7/10.
Whats with the damn teaser title at the end? That title was some hentai shit… are they about to bang? Was that why Yoshida was suddenly running before the teaser title popped out?

May I ask how? I did say they executed things in a nice manner for the "most" part, by no means was it perfect but I would love to know what you think they could have done better. Obviously there's room for improvement but I'd love to know what you may have thought of as a good execution to certain parts.

I'll be honest, I expected the finale to be much worse than it was.
But it was still dumb, underwhelming and boring.

First of all, Sayu's dogeza... "Yeah, I know you have been mentally and verbally abusing me my whole life to the point that I ended up running away from you and I had to endure some really horrible stuff that you don't even care about, but I'm sorry for making things harder for you"... Yeah, ok, show.

Sayu's mom has self-reflection for the first time in her whole life because some bloke told her "you're Sayu's only mother".

Sayu sneaking into Yoshida's bed and he being like "aigh" is like... WTF?? Dude! You're in her house with her psycho mother with whom you're somehow making progress towards a better relationship. If she finds you in bed with her you're done and everything is ruined. He should have sent her to her bed immediately and set the boundaries he set in the first couple of episodes.

So, I have to understand they ended up together in the end? That was pretty weak. And don't get me wrong, I didn't have a problem with them ending up together if there was a progression in their relationship, but he was like "no, I can't see you in that way and I like older girls" until the very end, and then suddenly *poof* they're together? Kinda reminds me of Yesterday wo Utatte (although that was way worse),

I've asked before and now that I finished the anime I'll ask again, because I can't address this enough... What was the point in the Gotou character? They were super into each other and once they confess to each other, they go separate ways?? WTF??. And, I guess someone can say that Gotou backed up a bit while he was dealing with the Sayu thing, ok, "ponele" (as we say here), but at the end of this episode it has been two years and... nothing? Not even nothing, but everything it's exactly the same. She apparently keeps flirting with him like the confession thing didn't happened. So what was the point???
And Mishima... Seriously, girl, move on with your life. It's not gonna happen.

And I didn't forget about the rapist dude who was let go with just a slap on the wrist and the author had the guts to try to portray him in a better light just because he did a few things with a basic amount of human decency. Screw that.

So yeah...
I have to say, when I started this anime it looked really promising, I was liking it a lot during the first episodes. Probably one of my favorites of the season at that time. I really can't believe how bad it got, it's really sad.

I enjoyed this series quite a bit. I did like Yoshida a lot. He had a moral code of conduct that he used and it served everyone in the series well. He was smitten with his wishy washy boss lady but figured out how to tone that down without causing a rift that would carry over into work. His stalker co worker was handled nicely and calmed down in her overt stalking/affection. Once again his actions allowed them all to still work together in an office environment. His relation with Sayu was done very well in the series and left enough for viewers to make personal inferences as to character motivations. I will give this one a 8/10 as a pleasant romance/coming of age anime.

Japanese mentality.
To think some people actually have to go throught that..

Last episodes were disappointing, but Sayu asking for sex in that manner was distasteful, there was no need for that since she wanted to confess either way.

It started out with a bang but the ending was way too drawn out, too many emotional goodbyes, etc. Once they started to timeskip the closing credits (and showing Sayu with her diploma) I pretty much knew how the after-credits scene would play out. But it's fine. Despite all the show's flaws, the best ending is for them to be together, and that's what happened. It must have been a lonely 2 years for both of them.

It certainly had some good moments in the first half, but got kind of boring near the end. I'll give it 7/10.

So, that time Yoshida was in bed and couldn't sleep, iirc it was around 2.30 am, then Sayu came, offered sex or something with boobs, then appears Yoshida sitting in that chair, clock pointing to almost 3 am, should we think they did something?

Just they were talking for 20 minutes, Sayu fell asleep and Yoshida felt the necessity to sit in that chair or something? Suspicious..

Well i think it was a decent final episode, i don't particularly like how hard they tried to play it safe and had yoshida act like completely tactless person with sayu in their departure, also in the end it feels like there was no change at all after 13 episodes, basically it felt like it went back to episode 1 stage again. Its sorta feels like there was supposed to be a second season after this even though we know there won't be.

Also... what just happened in the ending? did sayu run away again? if im not misunderstanding his dialogue with coworkers there was sort of a time-skip of 2 or so years so i suppose the one sitting in there is an already adult sayu right? It was kind of cute way to close up though.

5/10.

I’m done watching this shit LFG!!! I can’t believe they actually said the “Age is just a number” line and from her brother nevertheless!

This entire series is so astonishingly unlikable. Sayu literally sneaks into Yoshida’s room after they resolved everything with her mom to try and bang Yoshida, as if them getting caught in that situation wouldn’t ruin EVERYTHING that they have been doing up to this point. But thank god Yoshida is a stand-up guy that doesn’t fuck minors, he only grooms them until they are old enough. Glad they also made it abundantly clear he still had his harem 2 years later. Real subtle writing there.

This anime was an absolute trainwreck and much worse than I thought it would be after I saw the first episode. Only thing keeping it from a 1 is the OST and art.

It is a 2/10 and closer to a 1 than a 3.

I knew it! They must be showing me Sayu adult mode. Damn she wasn't even change much, thats very good. But, for Yoshichad, its so hard holding up your chadness. There's so much time when he obviously almost lost control. However, as a chad, he always be the chad. The end shall be your obvious reward, and well, thats the perfect finisher for all of your hardness.

In the end, this is just an expected final. Sayu stubborness and poison flirt sometimes reach the annoyance limit. However, since she is so goddamn cute even until the end, i think its still tolerable in my own standard. Definitely better execution than yesterday wo uttate, the one that i think get a very similar approaching until the final. But the open end still not enough to meet the solid criteria for the whole series. May Project 9 considering themself to leave some continuation ova to fill those hole. But for now, even though the whole plot absolutely hard to digest, the mother arc extremely shit part, and Sayu's past mostly lame compared to the others. However, as my standardization, Higehiro, and Yoshichad journey deserved enough to hang on my 7.

That's it all from me, and moving on....

Cute anime made me cry when they said goodbye though. He waited for her it seems and she seemed to mature a little bit. I would love another season!
