Yoigoshi is such a great main character, cant wait to see more of him.

Surprised Bakugo Katsuki's character is the actual team captain, like, what, when has a character with his type ever been the captain in a sports show?! Going to be funny to see, curious what quirk he has.

Also wheres our Streamer anime, need, Yoigoshi being so concerned about his streaming life was incredible.

Also most stylish OP of the season thus far.

This was really awesome. Textbook chapter on how to start an anime. Great pacing, exciting, nice characters, banger songs, fluent animation and a lot of hype.

Another anime I can feel as football matches. But now literally. 8/10 to start

I didn't expect this to be good, but good lord, it's almost fascinating just for how badly put together it is. The main character is a misanthropic streamer who's also a famous former soccer player. He is desired by all the sports clubs and constantly being harassed to join them and always says no, but is terrified that people find out he streams, AND immediately jumps to any and all taunts. He's also bribed by the dude creating a handful of fake accounts because this will be how he hits the big time. It's like both they know nothing about the internet, nor expect their audience to know anything about it either.

The idiocy carries over to the bits where they're playing kabaddi too. They go to this big explanation of how you need to tag someone and then quickly run away, which is followed by demonstrating it. The demonstration has STRUGGLE blasted across screen, then the guys tagged simply stand there and declare "Oh, we're in struggle now. We are now supposed to stop him from getting back to his side." I'm serious. They just stand there and re-explain the rules of the game to each other. This thing happens over and over. It's possible the creators don't really understand the game either and just glommed onto "STRUGGLE" as something they could slap on screen in a still before calling it a day.

As someone who watches actual Kabaddi this show is quite goofy, but it's still quite enjoyable when it tries. I'm never not going to laugh when the "sTruGGle" thing shows up tho.
I honestly have no idea what I'm supposed to type here.

You are spitting straight facts but I just found that funny. I definitely don't think it was intended to be funny but I could enjoy the episode in like an ironic way, if that makes sense.

So-so start, this ep was goofy, protagonist was a bit interesting. And is the guy in last cut gonna be our typical injured ace.
Ep felt a bit a cramped with everything happening in first ep.

Though why does that gorilla has no eyes...

Much better than I originally expected. Liked all aspects like the animation, voice acting, the pacing, and the subtle music. There's even moments of comedy to give it a wholesome touch. Will surely give it a few episodes now.

As I know kabaddi, the reason being it is widely played here in India, so the anime was just so nostalgic in a sense, great explanations, and a good first match/practice, good op, and a great ed, excited

It was an interesting episode. Especially since it was very nostalgic as I used to play Kabaddi a lot in school. XD.

I couldn't help but notice how they pronounced "kabadi, kabadi". We pronounced it more frequently and the "dd" was stretched a lot more than what they say in anime. Hehe, just relating it personally that's all. No hard fast rule on the pronunciation.

Felt that the players' faces got a bit weird in the middle. Budget issues? Maybe Idk.

Overall, glad that Kabaddi is coming out there and people will get to know more about it. Very much interested in the upcoming episodes!

Ikr. It was very nostalgic.

I feel like as the anime progresses, I'll be flooded with more and more flashbacks from my past. I find myself relating to every moment almost.

Remember when a new guy comes in the circle and plays for the first time? Haha. Felt the same when I saw Yoigoshi play for the first time.

Good times.

Yeah, there's something wrong with in this episode's voting system. To vote as if you really hate this premiere episode seems way out of line though in actuality, any sports series will mostly start introducing a cocky & confident first-year when he only trust himself and his skills he has. In fact, this is a generic set-up for him to go through consistent character development, but to vote "Hated this episode" choice so many times... something is definitely wrong.

Unless majority of those voters are seeing "culture appropriation" because Kabaddi is ancient Indian sport, then how come there's no outrage towards basketball series? Now that's being a hypocrite if you ask me...๐Ÿ˜•

True. I pity for them that the hashtag "IndiaWantsAnime" is making awareness amongst the AniCommunity. They've got VPN choice, but still, there are South Asian fans who want to watch on their television set, with huge screen.

Why are there 600+ voters putting "Hated it" for this episode? In fact, all these hated votes should go to Plunderer's first episode if you ask me.

I can only speculate they're toxic keyboard warriors accusing this sports series for "cultural appropriation" of the sports origins. Then why didn't they do that for volleyball & basketball sports series? Now that's being a hypocrite. ๐Ÿ™„

Loved the first episode, TMS are doing great job with the animation part I like how they explain technical part of the sport. Actually I wanted them to go on more depth of the sport more strategical aspect of the sport. It would be more fun if they include real life moves Toe touch, frog jumb, scorpion kick, dupki, dash, chain tackle, etc.
Looking forward for the incoming episodes

I thought the first episode was okay, I gave it a 5/10. The characters were average, but I did like Tatsuya and Souma. Tatsuya because he played soccer and Souma because of his work ethic. I'll probably continue watching the anime, but the upcoming episodes need to be better if I want to stay until the end. Besides, I still don't understand the sport, kind of like how I didn't understand Hanebado's badminton at first. At least, I instantly liked the ending theme.

Instead of bashing this sports anime that clearly will not be for everyone's cup of tea, there's the option to drop quietly.

Plus, there's no such thing as a retarded sport. And don't you dare say chess is another example of it! ๐Ÿ˜

All sports are retarded to be honest, if that makes you feel any better, that's how I feel at least. Kabaddi just takes the cake for how dumb it is. There's also the option where I leave a forum post where I share what I felt after watching this.

I've actually known about this manga's existence for a few years now, which to be fair, is a longer time than you've even been an anime fan tbh. The only context where I enjoyed this "sport" was where it was basically mocked in the Chio-chan manga, since it was used for a comedic effect type of thing.

You got that right. Saying "All sports are retarded." is like he believes doing them will make you more stupid than doing nothing at all.

That's why genres exists in the anime/manga/LN world because everyone has different tastes. Bashing one's genre is like doing voodoo on the one loving that genre.

Sure there's a genre I least like but that doesn't mean I've the right to go bashing that said genre and calling it "retarded".

I just avoid watching or drop the genre quietly. Bashing a genre you dislike that could be someone's favourite is childish/immature I say.

The voice cast being amazing coupled with the fact it's a sports series made this a must try for me. And so far, I like it a lot just going by this first episode. Simple explanation of the rules, easy to get into, distinct characters. Will be interesting to see more advance plays through the show. Always happy to learn about new sports.

Okamoto's character looking a little crazy like a gremlin that hasn't slept for years, and Takepi's character being obsessed with muscles checks out. Glad they're both voicing in the main team, looking forward to their performance.

Kabaddi is probably one of the most intense sport ,you will know what I mean if you have watched pro Kabaddi or the world championships. I love Kabaddi and the fact that an anime is introducing it to so many ppl makes me happy. The first episode was a good start and knowing Kabaddi, this anime can reach gr8 heights just by having intense matches, the character development can act as toppings. Looking forward to it

Kabaddi is such a bizarre sport, it kind of seems impossible to take seriously. This ep, however, showed that there is a competitive aspect too it. Truly fascinating. It was an okay first ep, tho I don't see it getting much better.
