THe romance is so small anyway. Just go with the blonde with is more canon anyway. The other ones are just added for not so much reason. Also the problem with such a huge cast. Comparing trails in the sky were the pairing was alsready prefixed and more worked.
people are saying they don't want to see Rean have a harem? BLASPHEMY

While mostly everyone loves Rean I do not consider Cold Steel a harem as Rean laughs off most of the events and acts like good friends with most characters. Even in the games romance events are often limited to 1 character per game minus CS3 festival which is more of a friendship thing anyway.

Excellent news.
Love the Legend of Cold steel series of games.

But considering that each is 50 plus hour playthrough
They're going to need two full cours for each game.

I've played both the sky trilogy and the CS saga and if they do the story right it'll be probably min 100 ep total, 25 per game since they're so much content for each game.

As someone who's played all the games currently on PC (so everything up until the end of CS3 - just one month to go until CS4), Trails isn't generic. Sure, Sky might start that way, but it's an ongoing story, with technology progressing over time. The party usually uses trains to get around in CS1, for example, and magic is enabled by a specific kind of technology

So, is this techno fantasy in the style of modern LN's trends like Mahouka?

Nope ,the cover of the first game can be misleading..the type of story is similar to fullmetal alchemist with bigger scale
I personally love fullmetal alchemist 10/10 , but i rate this game's story ,plot, and worldbuilding even better

Type of gigantic worldbuilding like one piece or tower of god (manhwa) , although it was really slow before the build up of the story pay off..so it is not the type that can be played by everyone

Well, if you want to say that this is steampunk + magic, then it's still techno fantasy to a certain extent.

It's not steampunk or the like. Nor is technology equally distributed - while three major nations do all make multiple kinds of vehicles, for example, they each have different specialties. The Empire of Erebonia, one of the westmost countries on the continent of Zemuria, and the nation where the Cold Steel arc is set, specialises in trains and tanks, though their rival superpower Calvard (to the southeast of Erebonia, though not directly connected, and they're a republic) focuses more on cars and the like. Liberl (A monarchy to the south, and the setting of the first arc of the series, Trails in the Sky) primarily does airships, both civilian liners for public transportation, and military models loaded with armour and guns and the like. Though all airships in this setting are made of metal and the like, of course.

But it's still technology + magic, so what's the difference?

It's probably not gonna be great, but I hope it's entertaining at least.

If this is successful, Falcom might be willing to greenlight more global projects like this. Hopefully we get a modern Ys TV anime or something, like an adaptation of Ys 8 or 9? (I'm aware of the OVAs)

They're not going to cover the entire story then? I don't know, seems like a lot of things will be missing, and this is an understatement.

This is really cool, hoping it is successful such that one day we might get an anime adaptation for Ys :)

Big fan of Kiseki so I am excited for this. Many people denigrate the Sky OVA but I enjoyed it for what it was. Hoping this series gets the love it deserves from the production team. There's no point in re-telling the story already told in the games and there's no way they'd have enough budget to pull it off in a way that would please the fans. It would take a good 24 episodes just for the first Cold Steel. Instead they have an opportunity to flesh out some plot points not fully explored... like what went down in group B's field study trips. I'd be fine if Rean isn't the focal point (since we've already seen through his perspective in 3+ games) but I guess he's popular in Japan so doubt that'll happen.

If they still making Laura the best girls. At least it will be a decent anime, but we knew it will be harem route or go to Tsunderelisa.
I'm too weird to live but much too rare to die.

Too bad he isn't the mc so we won't see him become the best protagonist ever.

Rean is well known to be the worst protagonist of the Trails franchise, way behind in quality compared to Estelle and Lloyd, so not sure what you guys mean. It's a good thing that he isn't the MC in this anime adaptation.

There's a good reason for why Calvard's story telling and cast will be going back to Crossbell's story telling style and cast.

Apparently it will involve cold steel events, but will not be from Rean's point of view.

This looks cool. I've seen some artworks of the white haired girl so I wanted to play the game already.

Which one? There's two notable white-haired girls in the arc.

This is random as fuck now but I've played through all 4 Trails of Cold steel games since my original post on here and absolutely love the series now.
Altina actually turned out to be my favorite if you were leaning towards her when I said "White haired girl" and I am insta adding her to my favorites list soon as the anime drops. I also really like Claire and Alfin. Fie was great in the first 2 games but they didn't do much with her later. Still like her but not in my top 3.
