Shit seems to be getting real, and quickly. Tbh I didn't really care about Q's death, but RIP to the announcer. I liked his energy when he would commentate during the fights. Also we got a ton of new information and characters thrown at us scene after scene lol, I really wish the show had more episodes so the pace could slow down and breathe a little.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

One Piece pacing is way better than God of Highschool. Especially when it comes to buildups. And no, both GoH and SAO are garbage.

Glad to see the Korean KKK with black body suits are now a part of the plot. Also, how the fuck is Daewi the only mfer who is suspicious about the fucking stand powers? Like wasn't this entire thing broadcast on national fucking TV? No one watching was like, "what the fuck is up with the big ass people shadow things that come out of people's back holding scythes and stuff?"

Also glad to see that the power scaling is absolutely bonkers and makes no sense. They don't even try to build up to it, but just say shit like "yeah everyone who's gonna fight in this tournament has the powers of fearsome gods". Nice. That makes a lot of sense and explains things well, thank you very much.

Last but not least, who's idea was it to use the goddamn suicide squad method of character introduction? Shit just seems to get worse and worse every goddamn week.

This episode is the first time the story was progressed forward in a meaningful way, but it's still too all over the place and not focusing on any one part of the story for long enough for there to be any depth.

As encouraging as this episode was story wise, it only increases the frustration because of how hideous the character designs are. The worst part is I know the designs were done intentionally by the author out of a deep seeded hatred for the beauty of the human form. Trustfully a disturbed man.

So the main problem continues to be that no matter how good a story is, if its just two pieces of fecal matter talking to each other, it's still stupid and too ugly to enjoy.

My respect for the director he literally does not give a crap about the author of the webtoon and the fans, he just took the opportunity to create whatever he wants out of it. Dogshit episode but it still got me hyped for next week. Incredible anime.

The director and author worked together so the author most likely told the director what he wanted him to put in the anime and every decision and change they made was probably approved by the author.

As good as the battles have been animated so far, I have come to the point that I realise that it's all the show has going for it right now.. Things barely get explained, maybe we still get that in later episodes, but I just wish they would explain atleast something about these supernatural stuff happening.. Or atleast the power system. I have got the same issues with GoH, just like I did with ToG.

Episode itself, pretty laid back for the first 75% until the point where this cult made it's move, killing Q and Sim, the announcer. Just after getting introduced to Sim in his private life with his family, he unfortunately got killed :(

Well, the official tournament will start! Time to look forward to some fights I guess!

Actually the author had no say at all because he complied with everything the director wanted to do, so the director is in full control basically and it shows

they went 100% on the action

lol its funny how much of a shitshow this anime is. The Manhwa was a glorified endless battle series with no plot and the anime literally just copied it while speeding up everything by a hundred. The only saving grace of this thing is the animation quality during fights, but that alone cannot carry a show. An anime without plot, weak characters, no character development, personalities and problems characters encounter that we can literally seen on so many anime adaptations will obviously lead to this series' downfall.

The national GOH competition is starting and there's bound to be some good upcoming fights. I thought this episode was a bit boring as its purpose was mainly to set up the next half of this season. Hopefully we'll get to learn more about nox and what their goal is. So far enjoying this series.

Which translates to ''director didn't actually want to be as faithul as possible, and the author encouraged it'' so we end up with this. So yeah, director and author were in agreement, but the author still had little say in what the director ended up doing. Like, there's clear lack of story and character, it's focused on delivering amazingly animated and directed action scenes, and the author probably doesn't know enough about that.

Ok so now it all makes sense, the director got all the liberty from the creator to do whatever he wanted with the original material, so he decided to go all out in the action and fight scenes .. unfortunately for him and for this adaptation, that focus alone doesn't cut it for it to be a good show
Seems like we are going to keep getting great animation on the fights while everything else is mediocre at best

We don't know if the author had little to say in what the director ended up doing. You can't just make assumptions like that. And how is there lack of story and character. All the characters are very likeable and interesting and you don't know what will happens later in the series. What we have watched till now is only the beginning and of the story. You can't judge the story based on the first 6 episodes. Watch the entire thing then judge

Okay, to be honestly the plot getting more interesting and pretty intrigueing by telling the whole supernatural thingy in to the next level. Nox, the named of that cult organisation that somehow had a power called Changyeok. The origin of this power still unknown, need more background story to completed the missing puzzle.

The tournament committee seems to be the good side on this world-building. Even they just launched the most powerful men among them. Were they really strong? Was that right to judge them in a good side? Their initial intentions still unremain until MAPPA decided to brought more background story to it. Even the power level seems balanced, by showing the death of important people in a tournament, one judge, Q, died in a misery, and that eccentric host announcer that had a surprising condition, too. RIP.

Okay. The pacing still fast like hell. However, when i knew the duration somehow became a big trouble by this long-ass serialization, always like that. The direction of it kinda understandable, for me. It was really necessary to wrapped up everything asap, in a good way. So far, the plot story that built up for the upcoming arc was pretty nicely done launched and in a good direction becoming more exciting every turn. Congratulations, i am very satisfied and can't wait with the next storyline they had.

Extremely middle episode. Fun characters introduced that did almost nothing. I enjoy the characters too much to drop it, but the plot is so stale I'm sour about it every week.

GoH is definitely going to be better to binge than week to week just because you won't need to wait 7 days for something to happen.

Also, if the mentoring each protag gets is three sentences said by a stranger, that will be hilarious.

I don't think Q is dead. It sucks the Shim died, but I don't think one of commissioners would be killed so quick into the anime.

So are the 6 supposed to be the top fighters that are going to oppose Nox while Park tries to find successors to train via the tournament?

This episode is like adding 10-20 different ingredients into your soup and it still tastes like complete shit. Adding characters without proper introductions and backstories will only create future story without weight. Hell, even the main trio's backstories are superficially thin, except for maybe Daewi but even his current motive is driven by "lol im just gona roll with it", which is a c-class (c for crap) tier motive.

The only thing that's good out of this series is definitely the fighting scenes and only the fighting scenes. You can edit out the entire story and only make fighting compilation and it would still have the same impact.

And Mori has been Japanized beam so hard its hurt. For some reason they make him a DBS Goku rip off. In the webtoon he is more like Tsukasa Eishi from Shokugeki Souma

Why do you need everything explained in one episode, the whole point is to keep the suspense level up and wondering what is going on, aka world building. What else do you want to know? the ending as well? like honestly what kind of logic do MAL users have. Maybe you guys should stick to romcoms

The issue with people like this; they are the same people who praise the "lore" and the mysteriousness of One Piece. Why do you need everything explained to you? The whole point of world building is to show glimpses of growth within the story and a great way to do that is by previewing some knowledge of established powers/things within a series. Mujin Park explained a bit about the powers to Daewi. I believe you are interpreting your confusion wrongly. The whole point of mysterious lore is to have people raise questions and be more intrigued about more things to come in the later episodes.

This is a poor reason to dislike the show, just because characters are given the whole backstory behind and explained through the nick and cranny doesn't mean its "bad writing". this is the whole point of world buidling and keeping the mysteriousness behind characters. They are literally showing people in cloaks that cover their face and you want them to explain who these people are? Obviously this is a tactic to build up suspense so once they are "FINALLY" introduced it answers a lot of questions. For someone who watches Re:Zero should know this. They employ this same tactic

When I finally got interested to a certain character in the series they killed him right off bat huh. RIP Sim Bongsa. I genuinely thought they were gonna show some backstory about the guy involving Mira's Moon Light Sword style and why he got blind. Too bad.

But yeah the episode was pretty okay-ish build up for future ones. The only issue I got is of course the awful pacing and tons of characters introduced right in my face. The "supernatural" aspects is finally getting explained little by little.

Why do you need every death of a character to be emotional and groundbreaking?. The whole point of his death was to grow suspicions about this group that killed him. You literally watch Re:Zero and you are complaining about this?

I still don’t understand if Nox is a character or an organization with religious motivations, hahaha, it may be all a smokescreen to cover other interests. So, the final match didn’t make sense, because they both passed. Superpowers are coming out. Mira’s frustration was the reason of her attitude then. That fire hair assassin is rockin, wtf. For a moment, I thought they three would have their senseis, Mori and the old man, Daewi and Park and Mira with Bongsa, something like Naruto’s timeskip, hahaha. Bongsa’s death was unexpected, at least for me, 1 episode ago he was completely unimportant. Q’s death.

"they could've shown us snippets of these stuff, but what did they do instead? They just filled the entire episode with all these shit like we know any of it or got a proper explanation of."

That is factually incorrect, throughout the whole episode the information they given us weren't even a lot to go off of to establish conclusions to what is going on. Give me 1 thing you got out of this episode that successfully gives you a full understanding of any facet of the backstory/lore.

"They just keep killing characters like its a joke, and who killed them? The witch cult we don't know fucking shit about. If you are gonna shove all these info and cult shit in one episode then do it after you've explained it. This is horrible writing."

Killing characters like its a joke? 1 character was confirmed dead while the other was what it seems to be like in critical condition. With these supposed deaths, they build the suspense and displays the power of the individuals within the witch cult. The whole point of these guys getting killed by the mysterious group was to raise more questions behind what is going on. Instead you see it as horrible "Writing" yet you praise One Piece for doing the EXACT same thing.

Unless you're a smooth brain, the information that was given in this episode wasn't even alot. They introduced the SIX, 2 characters were supposedly killed by the witch cult, The witch cult has some sort of motive behind attacking the tournament, there was a brief explanation about the divine power, and Mori's grandpa got attacked by the witch cult. Mind you the information was bare minimum and gave a lot of room of possible things the viewer can conjure up and fantasize about. That's the whole point of world building. This isn't bad writing it is just you being some sort of smooth brain

Wow! This episode was pretty chill if we ignore the death of the commentator and the commissioner. That was pretty tragic, that guy gotta be strong as hell to defeat them both and even laughing.

So that's how they made 3 of them compete, and together! So awesome to see that.
So we got confirmed that there are people that have powers and can use them, so i assume Jin and Mori have their powers asleep. Since the commentator got blinded by her sword technique.

It feels like the final tournament will be on another level compared to the preliminaries.
Can't wait!

Dude, why killing off the friendly announcer? And just after presenting him as a good father and husband. Damn, that was nasty.

Decent build-up episode for what's to come in the national tournament. So the rules were changed in order to have tag team fights now, uh? Rather convenient for Mira and Daewi if I'm honest but well. At least, I'm glad to see they won't get secondary roles.

Lots of new characters were also introduced but you can bet I won't even bother in learning their names. The Six group's presentation had me quite hyped tho. I can say I'm even more excited for this Nox-The Six confrontation rather than the tournament itself but we'll see.

P.S.: I have no idea why I always thought Mori's grandpa was dead lol.

Good episode for story build up even if lots of things happened

No, that's Uchiyama Kouki.

Disgusting attempt by the author to generate fake sympathy by showing the Announcer's wife and kid before killing him just after. Also, have him meet Mira and give her a pep talk. I know all your tricks you hack. Gobble up normies.

Fake sympathy? are you trolling lolol

I must've hurt your feelings. Lol.

I feel sorry for the announcer guy. This show is definitely getting better but the pacing is still fast. This episode was quite good. Enjoyed quite a bit.
