The Bjorn vs Ask a lad was weird, guessing he wasn't going to recover properly and wanted to die in battle?

I still get this feeling that Thorfinn will end up to be the monster he intended to slay. He changed so much just for the sake of revenge. As for Askeladd's part, I really hated him when he killed Thors but right now I have mixed feelings. I don't like him and at the same time, I like him. Just because even though hew knew that Thorfinn intends on murdering him, he still keeps him! My theory about that is he understood what Thofinn's going through.

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!

Not even words from Leif were enough to convince Thorfinn. His hatred and desire for vengeance still runs deep, despite all that's transpired between him and Askeladd. Pretty interesting encounter.

Lol I actually thought Canute died

This episode was exceptional. Askeladd's plan was great and I'm really wondering how the King is going to respond. The final scene with Askeladd and Bjorn was also really well done. I think this might be my favorite episode until now.

I hope the final three episodes will be a worthy ending. Then it's probably getting a 9/10.

Despite how horrible Askeladd is in nature, I think that deep inside he’s a very lonely man. Sad to know it took a loss for him to acknowledge that he wasn’t alone as he thought he was and actually had a real friend by his side.

Leif and Thorfinn's finally met up with each other once again but it looks like the kid's gotten a lot angrier lately.

Askeladd's plan to stage an all-too-real assassination to spread rumors of the Royal Family's conflict was very devious and cunning but I wish that he told the assassin to shoot for the arm instead because I felt so bad for that slave girl. Her sacrifice would hopefully not be in vain.

Askeladd telling Björn that he was his one and only friend in his last moments was sad as hell. It's arguable that he lied about it but at least he didn't end up trashing on his dying wish. Him being the only person from his Band not betraying him was proof enough that he was worthy of being called a friend after all. I wonder if Thorfinn's still up for the duel considering how the mood's become too heavy to fight with their all.

Wow, Bjorn vs Askeladd... that was intense and filled with sadness. Honestly, I never liked Bjorn but I couldn't help but feel sorry for him.

Didn't really understand when they switched Canute for the woman tbh, but doing that was cruel... I doubt she will ever appear or be mentioned again, but I really hope she's okay.

Wow. Another outstanding episode. The animation and soundtrack were fantastic. And the duel between Askeladd and Bjorn was so epic. Their final conversation had me in tear. Especially with the ending kicking in right afterwards.

Whoa and friends now kill each other, But I can understand not wanting to live with internal injuries that don't heal and cripple you... so going out like a man was the only other option than living in pain.

Bjorn.. you're a man who knew that you were going to die sooner or later. Still, knowing that fact you chose to die as a warrior and confess your true feelings to Askeladd. You're a true warrior.

That reunion between Thorfinn and Leif choked me up for a second. But then Thorfinn's broken self and rage took over. I wonder if he will ever see how family again.

Don't care about Bjorn. But interesting plot to fake the prince's death, essentially.

Oh, and I'm also getting tired of Thorfinn. His stupid obsession with Askeladd. He never learns. Almost like he doesn't want to win. It's all so stupid.

Respect to Bjorn for deciding to die as warrior like the way he lived unlike some of his former crewmembers. For Thorfinn's hitlist, it seems like everyone who took part in Thors murder is dead except Askeladd and also Floki. I'm happy yet also bit sad about the reunion between Thorfinn and Leif after all these years, seeing how much Thorfinn has changed.

traitor's are everywhere it would seem better watch out.
and really? for me at least Bjorn's death came out of nowhere but anyway still very sad, i liked him.
i think this duel between Thorfinn and Askeladd is gonna be the final one for this season. i think Thorfinn is gonna win, our they'r getting interrupted.

The reunion that's something new for a change Leif finally found Thorfinn for all those years had passed he finally felt relieved

Though it is odd that this episode happened and how much Thorfinn really changed from a bright young boy to a dark restless teenager

The king might be thinking of a move now that things had escalated real quick and it might be for the worst to not judge him by the cover even though Askeladd is smart in his decision making.

By all means Thorfinn should slaughter Askeladd next episode. He might be a bit handicapped, but he was able to keep up with Thorkell who is way stronger than Askeladd. Also Askeladd is handicapped as well with his leg. But for some dumb reason Thorfinn won't win...

The most effective strategy often requires the most extreme of action.

The body double trick to point out just how unsafe it is for Prince Canute in particular manage to rile up the citizens of the town, with rumours spreading like wildfire from one household to another, Askeladd quite literally controls the reality of the moment in that town. He's a rare talent in the world of Vikings who are known to supposedly always been a bunch of brutes. A genius mastermind! Even the smallest detail such as the spy, Gunnar, is not left unnoticed. Before anyone else knew of it, King Sweyn has been placed under constricted position. He will no longer have his way to do whatever he wanted to Canute if he ever wanted to uphold his reputation. Bravo everyone, nobody is left doing nothing, even as they feast and party, everyone is passively consciously or not, are contributing to Canute's goal.

Yo Thorfinn got a reputation and an epithet now? It wasn't so long ago that he 'won' his duel against Thorkell, but damn that popularity boost is a pretty title to have by if you ask me.

Finally, a reunion at last! Old man, Leif must have been overjoyed to finally meet Thorfinn, though unfortunately, Thorfinn has gotten so deep down his vicious fury to avenge his father that he no longer have any huge desire to return to the home he once was in Iceland. What of the other, sister and friends did he leave behind? They're nothing but vestiges of the past now. There remains only Vinland and Vengeance within Throfinn's heart now. It's quite a pain to watch as he screamed at the poor old man.

This episode was so sad for so many reasons. But first of all, can we agree that Askeladd is simply the biggest genius? Even if I didn't like him using a slave woman to be able to spread rumors.

The reunion between Leif and Thorfinn went kinda expected. I respect Leif searching for Thorfinn for such a long time, but not in the slightest can he imagine what Thorfinn went through. Under such extrem circumstances people can change a lot (I know this by myself just too well). I guess only time will tell if this is Thorfinn's destined way to go or if he finds another route to go.

Anyways, Askeladd's plan is in full swing and like expected Gunnar is a spy which isn't a bad thing at all. Letting the king get information you want is honestly the best thing ever.

"I wanted to be friends with you"

"You're my only friend"

Why do you have to do this to me Vinland Saga? ;_;
RIP Björn.

Usually I wouldn't interfere into a duel between Askeladd and Thorfinn, but this time it's different. With Askeladd saying Goodbye to his only friend, you can guess in what kind of mood he's now which was also clearly to hear in his voice tone.

Absolutely insane episode, from Askeladd's cunningness, mental warfare going on between Askeladd and the King to Thorfinn's meeting with Leif and Bjorn's send off.

There's definitely growing undertones of pacifism (if that's the way to put it) and friendship, love and kindness, especially with the epic reveal of Askeladd's friendship (which we actually haven't really delved into really, have we?)

This is the first Vinland Saga episode that actually gets emotional, in the start we didn't get the chance to get introduced to the characters much so their deaths didn't mean much. But this episode actually added a lot to the story and gave us insight to how Thorfinn changed a lot from ep 1.

I love how panicked Askeladd is when he realizes he missed Bjorn's heart. He moves immediately to put him down painlessly. It's weird that a moment where he's killing his closest friend is his most humanizing.

Man Bjorns death really hit different.
The Brotherhood that held until his last breath was shown very well.
Askeladd is now truly alone, and you could see the pain in his expression.

Excellent direction.

I'm a bit lost here. What is Askeladd trying to accomplish exactly? Avenge his mother and take down the Danish empire? Rise to the top and take over the thrown?

Getting rid of his former comrades who betrayed him made sense. They were puppets all along with no thought of their own, sooner or later he was bound to separate himself from them. He only saw them as pawns that did their job, but then I thought Bjorn would be different? Is Askeladd this selfish? Does he hate the Danes this much? It's an interesting development to say the least.

I'm not exactly impressed by the prince. Surely he has a goal that he's after, but without Askeladd, he won't get anywhere.

Kind of sad to see Thorfinn out of the spotlight. He's been portrayed as yet another pawn of Askeladd and his character has not seen a glimpse of change for several episodes. Considering that only 3 episodes are left for me to watch, I am not expecting a good thing out of the ending. But I hope I'm wrong.
I sometimes forget to finish my sentences.
