| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Welp this episode was tense. I think the test was more of a training exercise but Hikari has a decent fighting spirit. I think Hikari really does have a lot of potential but is a bit hotheaded at times. I do hope the battles in the show last a bit longer though but for what's worth, I think the episode got its point across. |

| So Rossman has was in doubt about Hikari but she found her strong points and also developed her magical skills a bit. I guess there is hope for her the question is how will she perform in future battles. |

| I have to admit its an interesting idea that the main girl is not for whatever reason 100% "gifted" or has insane amounts of "magic power". So she needs to learn how to use what she has properly, by using her other talents. But idk maybe its me. Its really really demotivational so far. Even if she is not directly a handicap for the squad animore, a better girl could have taken her place. Its about fighting mystical creatures that are going to kill you. Your squad takes the lead role to its extermination - why dont use the best force you can get? Its not even like she knows the others and therefore can act properly as a team member. Besides this, it looks like she has some moments where she is "stronger"? (Bird nest) The change between animation and CGI is totally meh. I really hope its gonna get better from here on. Because so far I only watch it because I actually enjoyed Strike Witches.. |

| It's not hugely different from the old, but that's a good thing. It's doing a great job of perpetuating the atmosphere. I do hope it can achieve the level of impact the movie had or at least build up to the scales and variety of enemies that Strike Witches S2 had. @Comander-07 What Hikari has is not bulk magic power like Yoshika, sure she has the unique eye ability (seemingly hereditary), but she has willpower. With willpower and focus comes control. If she can focus (which is her primary problem) then she can demonstrate levels of magical micromanagement that the others can't. |

| tbh when i finally thought about it there was alot of mulan look alike in this, but think it was great performed ut also what i noticed... was the dataanimation/gamish at somepoints while they fly, cause the face look all fuck up and felt weird.. anyway--- it so far its been interesting , love to see someone or some of the 501,,only been getting a few mentions, and looks like they are keeping it a secret ho they destroyed the nest.. hmm |

| Each week I appreciate Strike Witches more after watching an episode of Brave Witches. It's not that it's bad but it's just not as fun as the original. Be it case or the original formula it's trying to augment to use, its just not as entertaining. Needless to say 501st >> 502nd |

| It does make a refreshing change to see a main character like Hikari having to work hard if she wants to stay in the 502nd squad, especially as her magical power is pretty weak. CGI for this episode is better than last time, but it still isn't as good as I hoped it would be. The rest of the visuals and art are fine though. Still a good episode though and next week looks to be tough for Hikari. |
| it was interesting episode. I hope this season will follow Hikari growing became badass witch even with her magic lacking. Kanno's way to motivated hikari is great. Or refreshing than someone who said 'ganbare ganbare' cliche. |

| Although Hikari centric, the narrative closes a parenthesis lasting not much but long enough to also want a new course in storytelling. Small steps in the plot, but they give great credibility in what we will see in the future. The designs are beautiful and with a few flaws, quite finished sets. Bad enough switching between hand-made drawings and those in CG. Dot the OST. Begins the war against the Neuroi, Yay! |

| Wow that episode was intense but im glad that Hikari managed to improve her magic and find her own unique ability. Lol and i thought Takami's way of skipping across the water was stylish Edytha's was more more elegant in that she just strolled across Lol Nikka and Kanoe working together to help Hikari its nice that Hikari now has some great friends Well Edytha's tests are just to make Hikari a better soldier she needs to be stronger if she wants to be useful on the field wow to climb that statue you really need some fine control of magic Lol splashing Kanoe with hot soup when you have shaky hands If anything Hikari has the guts and determination that a soldier needs she just needs to harness her magic and improve them Lol thats twice Kanoe got splashed with something now its cold hmm so Edytha also has a reason to stop witches that have lot magic from fighting on the field which is to protect them Her training of Hikari is not because she looks down on her but because she wants to protect her. Wow to able to hang off the statue with just your feet is amazing magic sure is powerful in their world Lol in the end even Edytha is trying to help her succeed Hikari's determination sure is infectious Hmm do what you do best is always the best thing you can do If Hikari can't distribute magic through her whole body focus them on one point instead Lol Kanoe is such a tsundere but she's worries about Hikari just as the rest do But that managed to motivate her to finally get to the top and get the hat Its nice to see that Hikari is able to use her magic more effectively now thanks to Edytha and Kanoe who supported her and now her gear is responding the way that she wants thats some bond that she has made with it hmm so both Hikari and Takami have unique abilities eh that that Hikari knows of the sacrifice that Takami makes when she uses that ability of hers Hikari will only get stronger. |

| As before, the construction of the relationship between Hikari and the group, indirectly leads to know also the character of the various characters of the 502 th, and one learns to know the character of Rossmann, left aside so far. The narration, again this time, reading between the lines from an important message addressed to all. Good quality drawings, animations and backgrounds, the CG is not excellent. The new ending is catchy. |

| That Rall strategic reason behind her decision to hide Hikari's arrival. It kinda sly as a commander, increased her negativity again. But surely its a damn risky for their unit if they were being in caught .... Its quite funny for me too when knewing the fact about a leaders general that holding a northern joint forces army frontline had no Orussia representative on them. Well, was that quite ironic by knewing the battlegrounds were mostly indeed at the Orussian territory? Lol. Poor USSR on that timeline, like France as Gallia at SW season 1. They both had the same fate .... Lmao, looks like every girls really had a change of their minds really after seing Hikari's determination with all of her effort, a solid strong will, and very hard endurance she had. Even that insane test can she surpassed only in one week, after having an intense mocking kind of cheer up by Kanno. Holy shit, girl, you really did a great job controlling your magic! Its getting a paid-off very fast after that intensed training, and it seems they already found out Hikari's witch ability too that require her to touch Neuroi body's first before using it. Oh well, what a nice conclusion i had here. Welcome to the team, Hikari! Well, thats it there. On to the other girl already? Why not! |

| Well, I really like how Witches series handle its' characters.. There are lots of characters.. But we get buildup with every one of them.. And we get this gradually.. Like we had more focus on Hikari and Takami first.. Then Nipa and Konno get added to the mix.. Now teacher.. MAL tells her name is Rossman Edytha "Paula".. Well, not sure, how she's called more often.. But I still get more feeling about what kind of person she is as well.. I like how Witches series gradually introduce characters to the viewer, really.. ;P It seems that not everyone from the squad actually has the skills for this task.. Like Konno tried, and failed.. So I'm not too sure, how fair is this exercise.. But it certainly can be good training, though.. Even if not a good evaluation.. Well, seems like maybe Konno is past her grudge.. Well, if she stimulated Hikari.. Instead of letting her to just fail, and be done with that.. She still can be not the most person Konno likes.. But it's something.. |
