| Ayanami seems to be interested in the other side. Anyway Akagi seems to be planning something that the others don't know about together with the Siren. | Dayum, this was the very first interesting episode. It featured a lot of great shots and pretty good animation. The story is definitely getting more interesting. The Sakura Empire doesn’t feel like an enemy tho Tentacle girl was hot, and this is coming from a gay man Hope it keeps staying this way |

| This episode was all right. Not my favourite one because Edinburgh was really annoying. I wasn't fond of the fight scene between Takao and Sheffied either. I think the animators wanted to introduce Takao and made her fights more like a Samurai Battle with the sunset looming in the background. It looked more like the scenes from Bakemonogatari though or what Shaft usually does for their animation. The music was good but hopefully the fight scenes return to normal for the rest of the series. |

| Sheffield and Edinburgh infiltrating the Sakura Empire was an interesting change of pace, though the fight scene at the culmination of it all looked a bit weird with the way it was drawn and animated. Also I see Akagi is still going down the yuri route, this time with a Siren... Very good. Based on the comments Akagi made about wanting to see someone again, I assume she is trying to reconstruct Amagi there. |

| I'm not entirely satisfied with Yukikaze adaptation. She deserves more screen time, preferably protagonist role :3 I kinda laughed when she said she would've won that fight alone, because in-game it's actually quite possible lol. Shoukaku complaining about 1st division right after coming back made my day. It's weird to see Akashi doing something besides being a greedy shopkeeper. I can't believe we got Takao but not Atago. Hopefully we get some ara ara next week. |

| Another episode that was pretty slow, Im so glad to see that! But still it also had some good action. And the animation was stunning! And Ayanami have her own lesbian fan club that follows here around .Awwww that is so cute .Also her unwillingness to fight pleases me a lot! And my girls where climbing each other everywhere in this episode! The Yuri was so strong. You really ramp it up anime! Love that my loli waifu Unicorn got some time, And got her mouth wiped by her older girlfriend!! Unicorn and Illustrious are the perfect couple!! A loli on a big breasted mature girl!! YES! They should get married!! Then we have it!! The glorious lesbian kiss!!YEEEES Good for you anime!!First this season ..May not have been the best kiss sadly no tongue. But girls lip touch other girl lip! In my book I count it as lesbian kiss!! Best episode so far!! | Alright ep I guess, animation was kinda off during the fight (looked like a Shaft anime at times lol) but the backgrounds looked really nice. Well the general art style has been great but still man why it always gotta be the bad shows that have the best character designs |

| Good episode, but definetely weaker than the other ones. The highlights of the episode were easily the scenes with Akashi seeing the Siren and the battle with the spies. The Sakura Empire was absolutely beautiful and I thought the characters were portrayed very nicely. On the negative side, I thought the pacing of the episode felt really weird and all over the place; and the animation/image quality took a BIG HIT in the last scene during the fight, to the point where I was even confused to what was happening in some bits. Overall, not absolutely horrible, but it definetely had it's flaws. At least we finally got Yukikaze-sama. |

| I get that people are upset about the animation quality and too many characters are being introduced but i'm actually quite supprised that they managed to pull off animating a bunch of characters at once especially since this is the studios first anime that they have released, you can clearly tell they put effort and love into it and not generic_anime_character03_face |

| @Builderb Likewise, I've been happy and impressed with how it's looked overall so far. It's extremely common for shows to decline in quality over the course of a season, especially ones handled by smaller studios like this one, and I remain cautiously pessimistic that worse quality or Actas-style delays could follow. On the other hand, it's really impressive to hear that one key animator did this whole episode. I hope they're okay. They're probably not okay. |

| good episode Sheffield got some spotlight to show of her battle maid skills and we got to see quite a bit of the sakura empire side this time around even got to see a more recent ship ,haven't read the story but i wasn't even sure if she showed up this early or not but for all i know this could be a original stuff. wouldn't say this episode looked bad it looked quite nice at times but the animation looked quite different from the first 3 episodes |

| It's most noticeably the battle at the end that looked bad, low framerates and such. Source on there being only one key animator is the episode credits apparently. Re: confusion... but it's extremely basic, and it only somewhat resembles the story from the game. Black hair fox (Akagi) led the Japanese girls into working with the evil alien/whatever Sirens, she says it's like this Saruman said: You did not seriously think that a hobbit could contend with the will of Sauron? There are none who can. Against the power of Mordor there can be no victory. We must join with him, Gandalf. We must join with Sauron. Unknown to their comrades, Akagi and the white fox (Kaga) are building a hybrid ship with alien tech (this was not in the game, but it was in Strike Witches) and it somehow involves a "black box" cube (not something from the game), and the sexy belly alien (Observer) promises Akagi a "reunion" with someone (this is not a part of the story in the game, but people think she means Amagi). The green cat girl (Akashi) sees too much and accidentally ends up defecting to Azur Lane. That's it. That's all you need to understand from this episode, the rest is slice of life and inconsequential action. I don't see how it should be necessary to play the game to understand it. It probably is necessary to play the game to care, though. Worked for me. |

| Absolutely fantastic episode. I really hope we get more Sakura Empire episodes and IronBloods too for that matter. Yukikaze, Takao, Nagato, more Akagi, Kaga, Zuikaku, Shoukaku and Ayanami. Can't say anything but, I approve. XD Surprisingly no sign of Atago, unless I missed her somewhere. Fight sequences were great as always. Glad to see that production value is being put into this. Can't wait for next week, to think this is one of the shows I'm actually enjoying the most this season among all the new premieres. |

| Poor Akashi, I can't stop laughing at this episode. I feel like this has to be the result of bad karma for her after making people spend tons of money for her shop in the game, lol. Trivia: When Belfast mentioned Maid army it was her 'sisters' ship from Town Class. Out of all ship surprisingly they sent the ditzy Edinburgh with Sheffield instead. Edinburgh line of her mentioning gold is parallel to her in game personality that make jokes on her historical account (aka the real ship) that sunk while transporting tons of golds to England. |

| Ayanami sure is popular. The way that Yukikaze, Shigure and Yuudachi fangirled at Ayanami with their many questions and physical glomping shows that they really like Ayanami a lot. =) Although this episode still had plenty of lovely visual moments, the animation did have some issues at times, which is understandable with one key animator working on this whole episode. Hopefully the quality can improve in the next episode. Sheffield was pretty badass, though. Although Edinburgh was a klutz, it didn't stop Sheffield from pulling out some great moves and was successful in taking the black box from the Sakura Empire. Although Takao was an even match for her and the arrival of Ayanami put Sheffield in a bad spot, Edinburgh's YOLO plan with the exploding boat did help them escape safely. Aside from the animation issues, I liked this episode. So far, so good. =) |
| nice, combat on land. Sheffy somehow reminds me of the spy girls in Princess Principal, totally badass. Rescued a cat girl from tentacle monster, fight Kaga and Akagi. Then they escape using the bombs that Edinburgh found. Crazy episode. :D oh, and looks like more people are eating at the table in the ending song. I'm enjoying this. Almost sure to buy something when the anime ends. I hope they make an Akashi nendoroid. ^^ looking forward to next week!! |
| overall it's not a bad episode, but I do really wish they don't blow all their budget on some specific scenes. The amount of derpiness and unfinished frames tho. Another edit: Epi 3 key animators & Epi 4 key animator I absolutely have no idea why they decided only one key animator was responsible for episode 4. So this is just bibury studio putting only one guy on a very hard job. |

| Finally see Nagato, & Takao. Sheffy is badass. Pulling off some badass moves right there while saving Akashi as well. Looks like she'll have a new home in Azur Lane. She's adorable. There's a animation drop, but it doesn't ruin the enjoyment in this episode. And another week of waiting for the next episode. Sigh. |

There is barely anything explained and nothing makes sense from the perspective of an anime only watcher. I have no idea who these characters are, no idea what they're talking about most of the time as it was never properly explained, no idea what the Black Box is supposed to be, no idea what the series is building towards at all ? Frankly if not for the character design and passable animation there would honestly be nothing of value here. And no, please don't give me the stupid argument "wElL yOu ShOuLd PlAy ThE gAmE iF u WaNt tO UnDeRsTaNd" A piece of entertainment shouldn't cater to a single specific audience, especially when it switches mediums. Take superhero movies for example, I never read comics but I still understand what they're about and can get invested in them, because they're executed well unlike Azur Lane. |
