This is getting complicated and, possibly, worse? As far as I understand we are either not getting any answer about the source of Titan power, or if we are getting one it will be left there in the end. That really sucks because for such meticulously, masterfully crafted story having no definite 0 and 1 is somewhat regretful. Did I understand it right, that they still neither confirm nor disprove that the Devil Pact Eldians made was a work of fantasy, rather than science-fiction?

The owl said both sides are made up/ myth

No I am talking about the Titan powers. Did some sort of devil really bestow those original powers to Ymir bloodline? Or is it a myth that survived, but the truth is out there and no one knows it anymore (no one we know about)?

Felt like the Grisha and Kruger conversation went by pretty fast. I'm kind of disappointed to see some really interesting dialogue out. Historia original scene was anime-only. Isayama must have been involved in this, it's a pretty big detail.

The preview gave me goosebumps. Armin looks so happy! I'm expecting some great art, animation and sound for the last episode.

Oops, finally detected a change from the manga storyline. That bit with Historia's paths intersecting while she was a reading Ymir's letter was pretty revealing and not in the manga. Interesting.

The animation//art was a bit poor. Armin and Mikasa looked like they were drawn by the C-team. I suppose they're saving up for the grand finale.
What the art was good this episode, characters were on model unlike episode 7.

Check the faces and movement when they're lined up meeting Historia

I agree, human stories can turn into giants, is something crazy, AOT starts to resemble anime with YAKUSOKU NO NEVERLAND, where in this world there are devils eating humans, but I'm sure this is similar to magic, if in this world there are demons who don't it looks invisible I might believe, but let's wait for season 4, maybe there will be explained

The revelations from the flashback scene with Grisha and Kruger were very interesting. The talk about the coordinate paths and seeing the future were really intriguing, although I still didn't expect Kruger to say Mikasa and Armin's names to Grisha like that, though. ^^;

But he also revealed that possessing the power of one of the nine titans only grants you 13 years left of your lifespan. While Armin has only 13 years left, Eren only has 8 years left. Poor Mikasa didn't want to believe that at all, the poor girl. =(

Historia's original scene with her reading a letter from Ymir and having that connecting paths feeling as she touched the paper was nice, too.

Anyway, there's only one episode left of this second part of season 3. Man has it been a memorable journey...

My biggest gripe would be if the author leaves the whole picture unfinished. I really do not like series which come up with a setting that they use only to start their series, instead of drawing a continuous, beautiful line of narrative that starts at 0 and goes up to 100 with no loose ends.

-shit with Titan's power, anyone who inherits and has giant powers will be taken to live their lives to 13 years, after which their bodies will weaken and die,
-I began to understand why Rod Reiss didn't want to turn into a Titan he wanted to live a long life, and let his younger brother uri become a Titan, then he wanted his daughter to become a Titan too,
-and also don't forget that Grisha looks very cruel, because selfishly letting her own daughter become a titan, even though in season 1 Grisha cries when she wants to inject her own child with Titan's serum,
By the way, talking about Eren is a character full of freedom even in Season 1, he is different from Armin and Mikasa, the main goal of Eren is freedom, obviously he really hates the facts about the short age of 13 years
-and in the next episode Eren will see the sea, after that what will happen to him, whether to wait until the rest of his life ends with having a baby mikasa, which obviously Eren won't do the same thing as bad as his father

A line that was cut from Kruger's explanation of Paths is that they "transcend space". From there, we can infer that they also transcend time. It just means that memories can be received from the future as well as the past. Kruger connected with Grisha's memories. If you remember from episode 9 of Season 1, when Eren is remembering when his father injected him, he tells him "If you want to save Mikasa, Armin and everyone else.....

@Funseco , what you wrote about Ymir's letter as seen originally in the manga made much more sense than the scene we've got in anime adaptation. It had also more emotional impact and explained clearly what happened with Ymir. Anime's original scene, while it looked awesome, lacked some story-wise elements it should have had in my opinion.

Haha, I'm afraid we will need to wait for the next season. ;)) It would awesome, though, if there were more episodes of this brilliant Season 3 Part 2, but I think it's better to stay as it is. By smaller amount the overall quality of the show can be like that and it's good to be a little hungry after such a feast to be ready for Season 4.

Damn so there's only 9 exclusive titan shifter versions? I mean out of my head so far we've seen, the attack titan, armored titan, collosal titan, female titan, beast titan, ymir's titan, Rod Reiss titan.. Or was that the founding titan? idk but thats 7 out of 9 titans. Coincidence I think not.
Also does Eren Kruger have the ability to see the future or something, somehow consciously or not he knew he was talking to Eren via memory...
Anyway I just hope Ymir is still alive somehow and in the end Historia and Ymir get married anyway! Hell yeah!

Rod Reiss was a mindless titan.

Attack titan; Armored titan; Female titan, Collosal titan, Beast titan, Ymir's titan, Founding titan and the Titan with the duckface who saved Zeke. one left we don't know.

It's most likely true. Remember Rod Reiss' brother, Uri? He was YOUNGER than Rod. but by the time he died he looked like he was an old man.

This was Uri around 12.9 years after he ate the founding titan. Just before it was passed on to Frieda.

This is Rod who is older than Uri and several years after Uri's Death. He looks significantly younger than his brother.

This is further proven by ZEKE.

Zeke is only 10 years older than Eren yet he looks to be significantly older. (Which is why many people initially thought he was too old to be Eren's brother, thinking him to be his uncle or something like that.) The curse of Ymir physically ages the shifters at a faster rate, imo.

I love how even info dumps are interesting in this anime. I guess it is probably because they are finally answering the questions that we have had for years.

I had been wondering what they'd do with Ymir's letter ever since Ymir's flashback had been moved to season two. Well, this anime surprised me yet again with that awesome thing with paths. Instead of doing something completely random, they did something that could be possible in this world. (Even though Historia wasn't directly touching Ymir, the scene was still good.)

I love how Grisha and Eren have the same kind of facial reactions.

Young Grisha kind of resembles Isayama in a way.

Finally, they are going to see the sea. I can't wait to see the animated versions of all their reactions. Hope they make the scene slightly longer than the manga. I really want to see how anime Eren is going to look like after the time skip. Hope he is going to be just as sexy as he was in the manga. lol.

WOW! This episode stunned me for many reasons.
1.The name of the owl, was "Eren".
2. The Owl committed many atrocities against his own people to infiltrate the Marlianos.
3. Anyone who possesses the power of the Titans, from that moment, will die in 13 years. It is the "Curse of Ymir". If it is true, Eren will die at the age of 23. That is too soon.
4. The power of the coordinate, the power to control other titans, is possessed by the "Titan Progenitor".
5. The Titan that fights for "Freedom", the "Titan of Attack". Now I see the meaning of the title of the anime.
6.Ymir (friend of History) will be one of the 9 titans?
7.History, do you retain powers because you are a direct descendant of the Royal Family? What was that when she touched Ymir's letter?
8. 208 soldiers of the Exploration Corps, and only 9 survived. It was a tremendous sacrifice in exchange for the answers of humanity.R.I.P.
9. The one that Eren could use the "coordinate" is because he touched Dina for a moment? Was it something temporary? Could he use it, again? It's a crazy hypothesis, but what if Eren's mother, and if she had royal blood? Let's think about cool things xD.I do not know if Eren is smart or a fool to hide this issue from others.
10. Why did Eren Kruger, the "Owl, mention Mikasa and Armin in Grisha's memories?" That final scene left me with my head spinning, I can not find a reasonable explanation, it's not possible that those memories are of Eren Jaeger When he had not even been born, then, from whom? Or is it that the present memories merged with the past memories, thus forming a new memory: My head is going to explode!

I'm excited for the title of the next episode.

Another excellent episode. Everyone learnt the truth, both the characters and the fans. This revelation is really interesting and well-written, but it also leaves me with a feeling of emptiness and gloom. It's really sad, looking back and seeing how many people died, not knowing of what's going on with the world and the mystery behind the titans being humans themselves. It seems like in the next episode they'll go outside the walls, and this leaves me with a very bittersweet and empty feeling regardless of it being a happy occasion.

I also loved the bit where Krueger said that no matter what people have to face the future determined by their past actions, regardless of whether they regret it or not. It's cruel but also necessary sometimes. And of course he is right that love can always save people in the end. That's what I personally think that means the most in this world. We may be just as clueless about our own lives, its meaning and our place in the universe, but what makes our short time on earth matter, what gives meaning to it is loving others because we'll never know everything there is to know.

Another thing I find interesting since s3's first cour is the allegory of the king wiping people's memories and manipulating history to serve his own interests. I am not entirely sure if Isayama was intentionally hinting at humanity's selective memory in terms of our own past, and the influence and damage people of authority can easily do to citizens, but in my opinion this is spectacular.

As far as the actual plot is concerned, I am heartbroken over Ymir's death, but I found it a bit rushed and would have wanted more details. The letter was romantic and very emotional. I just wish there was more time to see Historia's reaction and whatever exactly happened with Ymir. P.S. the lines about Reiner being a creep made me laugh way too hard LOL

Also it goes without saying but I don't want Eren to die wtf. All this suffering and this is how it will end? I mean yeah maybe Isayama will kill all of them but I don't want that, even if many of my favorite characters have died *coughs* Erwin *coughs*, it is still a shame to see more of them die after leading such cruel and traumatizing lives.

I'm excited for the next episode but also lowkey mourning the fact that s3 will have ended after such a short time T_T I have loved Wit studio's adaptation so much that I decided not to read the manga and have kept this since 2013 (I think I'll start reading now that the theme has changed though- it doesn't seem like there will be any titan fights or hype moments soon but i could be wrong), so I'd be over the moon if they came back for s4. If not, I hope it remains with Production IG and Araki as the director, lbr he's done a stellar job in all seasons, the same goes for the animation, soundtrack and basically every aspect.

I’m so confused over what’s going on right now but I’m enjoying it nonetheless. Like what is all this paths talk? Why could Historia see Ymir’s past- is it due to the whole royal connection to the people? Why did the guy in the last look a bit like Eren? Why did the guy in the past know Mikasa and Armin? So many questions.....

True. You can tell that everything was planned from start, unexpected to the point the title of the show is translated wrong. This is really a masterpiece.

it is not translated wrong it's just reversed and when you think of it logically I've always found it weird that it was called attack on titan when the titans were doing all the attack i should be attack titan or attack of titan is more accurate

I love these info-heavy episodes <3 I'm curious about Historia seeing Ymir's memories while touching the letter, what exactly happened there? also, does Kruger mentioning Mikasa and Armin mean that the paths connecting Eldians transcend time? Or is it like a newfound power of Eren, who saw them all die in one timeline and is now in the future, steering Kruger and Grisha through some weird time paradox shit towards another, brighter future? Can't wait to see what the next episode brings!

Hmm given their role and the enemy's preference to check purity a doctor is indeed the best spy. If anything the things that Kruger was forced to perform in order to protect his identity sure were harsh ones. The time limit of the titan's lives though was a harsh revelation. Its nice to see Historia again. The intel that was gained in the retaking sure came after a grim cost. Still the intel sure did well in expanding upon the world and allow the cast to see just how wide the larger world was. Though the queen given how new she is i doubt that Historia has many supporters within the military. If news got out about the founding titan then i think things will be bad. Its interesting how Kruger knew about Mikasa and Armin though. Whose memories is he actually seeing i wonder.

8. 208 soldiers of the Exploration Corps, and only 9 survived.

Ymir's already one of the 9 titans. Also, they explained how the paths connecting the Eldians convey memories and how it transcends space, so it's not far-fetched to assume it also trasncends time - so that it can connect the past, present and future as just one thing.

What the actual FUCK?! My mind is blown! So the people inside the walls are the real titans?! And humanity is actually alive outside the walls, like Marley is going strong? Woooooow.

Also how the hell did Krugar know about Mikasa and Armin? I can't believe next week is the last ep... i've got too many questions for this to be the end!

So Eren has two of the nine(?) titan powers, founding titan and attack titan? And now they also got the colossal in Armin, which means the enemy has 6 powers. Annie, Reiner, Ymir and Zeke.... and two we haven't seen yet, unless I forgot about something.
Can't believe next episode is the last one already, goddamn >_<
One is the Dog Titan who saved Zeke and Reiner
