I Liked it and gave it a 4 out of 5. It seems almost very promising due to the suspense on the first episode. Nezuko has a good looking side I almost feel bad for her having to become a demon...

Episode 1 was quite interesting, despite a semblance of classic "me don't wanna kill ma friends & family even if they turned bad" (actually this kind of behaviour usually appears in zombies games/movies/anime).

The demons who infuse a sort of cannibalism + strength & aggresivity increase is original, since they usually lead their victimes on bad trails (making them sinners like assassins for example). However the victim herself seems to have a remnant of
consciousness.

And the anime seemed to have an great animation, especially in the ending (which will probably be the opening) ; nevertheless I'm having issue with their eyes, I can't appreciate them yet.

Hmm, not bad so far. A bit overboard with the tragic staging, they tried to hard to make it emotionally.

But that was an interesting opening episode nonetheless.

Can anyone explain why there are electric power lines in the village Tanjirou goes to sell charcoal? What era of Japan is this suppose to take place in? I read the manga's 100+ chapters, but I didn't notice the power lines ever until now.

It's the Taisho period, so somewhere between 1912-1926.

This will be amazing. At first I was like "What? Hanae Natsuki again??" But actually, he kinda does work for this role. And to see Takahiro Sakurai in another serious role, after what seems like too many comedies recently, is really a treat. Didn't really see him in the ED, but hopefully Tomioka will be at least a recurring character.

And I thought I recognized that music. It's obviously Yuki Kajiura's work, yay! I don't think she's capable of writing bad music. Yuki Kajiura, ufotable, and Sakurai? One hell of a first episode! 6 out of 5. Nothing but high expectations for the next episode.

Man, I really didn't expect Tanjirou to have more family members aside from his mother and Nezuko... honestly, it was hard to see his brothers (infant included) and his other sister dead in such gruesome way.

Well, and so, that's the beginning of one of my most anticipated anime this season. It was a very good first episode and although some events felt rather predictable, it was still a very captivating start.

The animation was nice and clean but what caught my full attention was the OST, it was simply fantastic, just as expected from someone such as Kajiura. Sorry but I haven't listened to any of Shiina's other works :/

It was a very promising first episode overall. Honestly, I have high hopes for this anime so I hope Ufotable can be able to handle the story progression in a satisfactory way.

P.S.: Everyone are mention that "Breath Style" thing and it sounds cool as hell. Can't wait to see it!

Well the beginning was adapted faithfully, though it felt about as average as the manga; I'm not too far in but it really doesn't feel like anything special in comparison to other "battle shounen". That said the animation and music are nice as expected, and some of the character designs look pretty sweet translated to anime form.

Overall I'm not expecting much from this, but at least the team behind the adaptation will make it more palatable than the manga.

Really enjoyed the first episode. The whole concept really hooked me and I'm really wondering now where this series will go.
Now he's gonna be a demon hunter so that he could eventually find the demon who killed his family and during all that process try to find a cure for his demon infected sister. Cool!

ufotable did an awesome job with the animation, looked great!
That ending animation was an awesome trailer for what's to come it seems.

I don't think the anime could cover it all since it an ongoing shonen series that have 100+ chapter.

The manga is still ongoing(Chapter 152 is the latest chapter), so no. But I do have an idea as to where they will probably end it.

Whoa that adaptation. The anime gave me feels where I wasn't feeling anything in the manga. The beauty of execution.

This!!! The direction and the pacing worked extremely well in the first episode, giving it more of an impact than the first chapter of the manga. I'm really happy with the adaptation so far! Hopefully it'll continue to do the manga justice.

So happy to see Tanjirou animated ;__; Ofc as well as Nezuko and Tomioka. Sakurai is such a good choice for Tomioka, and Nacchan's innocent good boy voice works perfectly for Tanjirou. Only complaint I have is the ugly 3D environment, as usual with ufotable. The bg isn't always 3D nor bad, but also when it's 3D and bad, it's really noticeable and jarring.

But anyways, the first episode was definitely full of emotions. Hopefully people won't be put off by Tanjirou's niceness, because he's so refreshing to see due to his personality. As for Tomioka, you can kind of get a bit of understanding into his character here. At first impression, he definitely seems quite cold, but he does feel apologetic that he couldn't have made it there in time to kill off the demon. Tomioka's words about weak people is quite true, and more so because of the time setting here. His words were harsh, but it influenced Tanjirou to act.

So excited for the next episode! As long as they don't deviate from the manga nor cut out anything important, I think this should be a good watch! Also, keep the funny and chibi expressions in. Almost forgot to mention, the Breath of Water looks amazing! Can't wait to see it in action~

The MC and his sister are short because they are young. He's 13, she's 11. I forgot how old Tomioka in this scene, I think he's 19 here.

Recall she increased in size when trying to eat her brother. If you want to see her original size, perhaps compare her to her brother before he went to sell charcoal. She looked half a head shorter than him.

Edit: sorry, after watching again, she shrunk after Tomioka's first attack, I think it's just perspective issue, since from the side, she looked only as tall as Tomioka's shoulder.

There's no difference between the oni and vampire.
And ofc there'd be an edgy demon hunting organization with full of youngsters.

Uforable's animation completely puts other studios to shame. I can't think of another studio being able to utilize CGI so smoothly and not make it an eyesore. The soundtrack is top tier which blends so well with artistic shots and cinematography. I'm so impressed and definitely be watching this one.

Arf, clicking on something accidentally then hearing a few notes from Kajiura, and now watching something I wasn't the slightest interested in...

This seemed way too bloody and dramatic for a current WSJump title. I guess the team decided to do its own thing. Apart from that, a pretty common beginning, probably leading to the hero's training to become a vampire hunter, I mean an oni slayer ?

Chara-design wise, the "SSJ-haired" slayer looked very odd and did not fit in with the environment or the other characters style.
Also, pictures don't look as flat as ufotable's usual deliveries, I'm astonished. At the very least, as long as the scene isn't put on a computer background that makes anything stand out like paperboard too much.

3/5 Hoping for a nice full-length series that will diverge enough to conclude itself.

@Ataccot So, the manga has the same tone and the same level of violence? Funny for a recent jump thing.
"more palatable"? Do you mean that the mangaka isn't good to depict action/movements ? Is it his layout or a lack of dynamism in his drawings?

Take in mind that when the 1st chapter came out KnY had a score of 6.9. You can already see the differenze between anime and manga. The execution is much more powerful in the anime. Plus, it has music, animation to it, voice acting, etc to make it more a pleasant experience, that’s why.
Although 7.9 is not low in any kind of way, I assure you the manga’s rating will keep rising from now on

Pretty strong start. The art, animation, and music is so "fate like". Tbh, I wasn't expecting too much from it since the anouncement of ufotable adapting Kimetsu no Yaiba because of the not so convincing synopsis with pretty boring premise. But now I can say that I'm sold to this. Still not hyping myself but It is good enough for Sunday show. 8/10.
