I wonder how many more filler episodes are going to air since the manga only lasted for 12 chapters. Loved the episode.

Yes, this was EXACTLY the right way to advance the show's humour! I'm so happy those jabs at the anime industry from episode 1 were actually setting something up, I really hope the show continues with its meta self-deprication.

It definitely is.

I loved all the meta jokes in this episode, absolutely amazing. Them basically calling Pierrot out was the best.

So I know people have pointed out several references in this thread already, but I'll like to add one more - that part where all 6 of them were calling up various people to help out, there was a throwaway line where they were saying that a certain Ishikawa-san was okay with voicing lines. Our favourite mahou shoujo (shounen?) Ore (Saki) is voiced by Ishikawa Kaito!

I really don't get the mediocre score the show is getting. This show is pretty darn hilarious. Episode 5 fits perfectly for a show like MSO. It doesn't make sense nor do they try to make sense anyway.

But that's what makes it so enjoyable. They know they are just messing around and they fully embrace it. I love that they maintain that. In fact, they should. Trying to take itself serious at this point would be an absolutely huge mistake. Plus, the most important thing is that it is funny.

I can definitely say that this is the most fun I've had watching an anime by Pierrot since last year. It's about freaking time. ^_^

There was a Pop Team Epic-shaped hole in my heart, but thankfully Mahou Shoujo Ore is here to fill it.

This episode was even more over-the-top than all the previous ones, and I loved it even more for it. The jabs at the pitiful state of the anime industry were just... savage.
Yet these hands will never hold anything.
Thus I pray, Unlimited Waifu Works!

Did they just parody Sentai, Kaijuu, Osomatsu-san, Pokemon GO and the whole goddamn anime industry in one episode?

Boring episode. Saki and her obsessed friend's antics are more entertaining.

I'm not surprised people here missed the point of this episode but this was a big fuck you to the entire anime industry and studio pierrot. I have many questions. How did this episode get aired on TV? The director even deleted his twitter account.

Magical Girl...on Vacation. I guess they timed this episode for Golden Week.

Self-awareness at its finest! They probably used this episode to save up for the next one. Well this isn't the first time an anime made fun of its own studio. Fushigi Yuugi back then also did the same thing calling Studio Pierrot "cheapskates". Not as satisfying as the previous episodes, but I'll take it. I just hope the anime industry isn't going have trouble this season like what this episode was showing.

You both said everything I wanted to. Long time anime fans will appreciate it's sense of meta humor, it's kind of brilliant!

I can't believe this show has a filler episode like this.. disappointed.

Wait, isn't your profile picture Gintoki from Gintama? Gintama has dozens of filler segments/episodes exactly like this one, spoofing the industry, and most of them are just plain bad.
I love Gintama by the way, but gotta give credit where credit is due. This was a pretty good episode, and the fact that it came out of nowhere just helps drive the point home: the anime industry is a mess and shit happens.

Yes, but there's a difference between a show that has over 100 episodes and one with 12 episodes. I get that the manga just contains 2 volumes, but still, making this episode just for a overused joke, when all the other episodes have been a blast, is disappointing.

I loved it. I was disappointed in Animegataris' anime satire quality, but this was top notch.

(But I can absolutely see many legitimate reasons for others disliking it).

This should have been saved as an OVA or Special, they're still in the process of establishing the characters and their world and they drop this "lol so random" stuff on us in the middle of that? this was a bad episode and it was poorly timed.

I didn't really get anything out of this episode. From the jokes related to other anime to just the industry in general. I feel like they're trying to make up for it by promising fanservice in the next episode but I'm here for the humor so that doesn't help.

Okay, to everybody who's confused: these cyborg guys were supposed to be some sort of reference to the show Osomatsu-San! Please check it out, you will see that the colour of the scarfes, the (birth) numbers on their foreheads and personalitys are a match to the Osomatsu-siblings. ( https://myanimelist.net/anime/31174/Osomatsu-san )
The real question is: why? xDD I mean at the very end of the last episode they were also seen so this filler was planned some time ago and not just quickly added xD The only thing I found out is that these two shows are published by the same studio but that's it.

I'm disappointed at the reception for this episode??? A little soon for filler, but this was gold. My favourite part was that the episode ended and we didn't even get to see the animation that supposedly 600+ animators worked on xD it was pretty funny to me.

One of the best parts of the joke is that the first episode of Osomatsu-san was so filled with parodies that it was pulled by the production company not long after release. Crunchyroll took it down and it didn't go on the Blu-ray. So the opening of this references that they can't parody a show that got in trouble for parodying other shows. Adding to the comedy is that both shows are produced by the same studio.

One reference I haven't seen mentioned is when Saki and Sakuyo come flying in on the bridge. They appear as a red and blue circle in a form that looks very much like the logo for Sunrise, who are located in Suginami.

By far the best episode so far. All the complaining about the episode in thread talking about how it's filler or doesn't make sense reminds me of people not liking Macross 7 on MAL. Low-stakes genderbending mahoujo shoujos don't need to be taken so seriously, it's a through and through comedy, personally I'd advise just sitting back and accepting what happens.

Although, of course, I'm some several years late for this comment.
