I must admit I enjoyed this episode. Mob's rage mode makes him look sexy somehow (maybe it's just me being weird as always). I'm liking this anime way more than OPM.

Let's see what happens on the next one ~

I thought only bad of Reigen till now but I think he is an important existence in Mob's life. He probably cares more about Mob than he shows. He is an asshole when it comes to money though.

The animation of Mob's emotion burst was stunning. This whole scene was so badass in every way. And the story progresses so nicely. If things continue the same way, definitely will watch till the end.

That was funny but also a bit sad. Poor Mob has to choose between having emotions like a regular person and exploding.
Reigen somehow manages to insult and compliment Mob with the same exact words.

I know, poor Mob! He needs more friends [does he have any??] that don't mind him having a blank expression and teach him how to show his emotions little by little. Also Reigen actually said something decent for once!! Even if he had to insult him at first...

Alright, this is my guess on what the series will be about. Over the course of the series, he will regain emotions one by one. The first arc was about resolve I think? It could have been anger but if it was, it was a horrible attempt. The next arc might be about sorrow as hinted at the end by "I'm... terrible". I assume the telepathy club will bring him happiness in the future? My final guess is discovering his teacher's fake identity will be related to him fully recovering. For his past crush, I don't think anything significant will happen. There's a low chance he gets rejected but I doubt it.

The reason why I think the show has one of the worse fight scenes are:

Almost 0 tension or buildup. The fights are almost always "on the spot" or scarcely developed over a single episode.

His opponents are just randoms with no significance. This also leads to predictability. You know Mob will not lose. You know mob will not exercise much of his power.

There is nothing special gained or lost from victory or defeat -- a consequence of both of the above. Shows are much more fun when you are able to root for someone or hope something will happen. The problem is, there's no one to root for or something to hope for at this stage.

There is no tension or suspense because you know Mob will win and once again, there is no special need to win or lose.

A future serious fight will be predictable. They created a trend of 0 characterisation for the enemy so once an enemy starts receiving characterisation, you know it'll be a serious battle. Not a big deal but a little subtleness is nice.

The enemy from this episode reappeared at the end, so it isn't over in a single episode.

And he can have more characterisation in the future since he is still there.

I think you misunderstood me. The fight was boring because the character was characterised over 15 minutes similarly to the other enemies so far.

I'll reply to the other response latter. g2g soon

Isnt that the point, mob is lost in a world that greatly differs from everything he is and his attempts to fit in with the hyper over the top world around him only leads to stressing him out. Hes trying desperately to find what it means to become human but only subconsciously locks away his emotions in the process whilst everything around him is going full ham with their emotions. Its an intentional dissonance.

I don't mind people showing their emotions: it's the over-the-top and childish way in which those emotions are expressed (visually, but also because they're often accompanied by silly sound effects) that bugs me. It feels like a stereotypical "shounen" high school comedy, and that's a genre I just don't like. But in the end, it's all a matter of taste, of course. I like the character development and fights in Mob Psycho (and in ONE's work, those two often go together), but I don't like the wacky humor very much, and so far, there has been quite a lot of emphasis on the latter, in both style and substance. The anime certainly isn't bad, but it isn't what I hoped for either. I'll keep watching though!

Question: how far will the anime cover?

It'll definitely do the
, but everything after that ... I'm not sure. It might also cover the
(probably my favorite story arc, because it's the darkest, most "serious" arc and the only time
), but it depends how many of the smaller storylines of the manga they'll adapt. The
is almost certainly too far away for this season.

This show is CLEARLY superior to Re:Zero yet such low score compared to it. It has comedy, action, fun and original plots and BELIEVEABLE characters in terms of their personality (not the actual esper power ofc). I've enjoyed each episode so far and each episode surprised me, unlike Re: zero same old shit every episode.

don't embarrass yourself, Re:Zero episodes have so much more depth and quality than Mob that it's just silly to compare them

Pretty great episode, his explosion was done amazingly and I laughed quite a bit at every scene with ONE's dry humour (in particular Mob staying for the milk and the ending scene where he gained 20% in an instant).

Did I see Josuke in the preview?

It's just a normal sentiment of most people in the world.

Each individual only accounts for themselves, as such the main character in their lives is themselves. I don't speak Japanese but I imagine the translator here just chose "protagonist" over "main character".

I FREAKING LOVE THAT DANG OPENING DANG IT. Anyway, I was curious as to how the body improvement thing was going to go, it went about as well as I expected it too.

Mob finally showed off some of his psychic abilities and it was epic. This anime is great in absolutely every single way, and so, so, SO very strange. Episode was getting pretty deep and intense towards the end though, and seeing Mob get mad was interesting.

I can't believe that they carried last episode's story over. It seemed so ridiculous that it might have just been a simple structure to a punchline, but now we're seeing the after effects of it.

It's strange to say that Mob Psycho is definitely structured better than One Punch Man. Winter's one-hit wonder was a blast, but it took 5 episodes to start showing what the show was really about and all it's subliminal messages, besides just "one punch" for the lols. The idea of taking the same deadpan character structure but actually not make him as deadpan as you think by showing off puberty is quite the idea, and it really works well with the show to emphasize that there's more than just slapstick and crude caricature proportions.

And I really hope that we get more of 100% Mob down the line, not so much restricted to "rage" if possible, and hopefully by the end of the season, some progress is actually made and there's an actual substantial relationship between Mob and his crush. Don't have it like OPM where the struggle is just stationary, make it progress and for the show to grow out.
All hail the Almighty Funyarinpa!... Wait, what do you mean you don't know what it is?! How DARE you! SAY you're sorry!!! APOLOGIZE TO THE FUNYARINPA!

This show has nothing to do with one punch. Sure it has the same creator but the concept, themes, and style are completely different and set out to tell a different type of story. Compared to a lot of new shows this would easily be my favorite even if I liked OPM more. I'm enjoying Mob even more than OPM because it focuses more on the characters than action, and that's exactly why they have no place being compared and isn't a good reason to dismiss it.

Sure. Comparing it to one punch is weird anyway. It's like comparing every show you watch to some other unrelated show and thinking "Was it as funny or action packed as that totally different show? No? OK it's got nothing going for it." That might not be the case exactly, but it till seems redundant to compare it.

While the emphasis maybe different (I have no idea to be honest because this is as action packed as one punch was) I still think that the jokes aren't very funny. As far as the characters go, I can't judge them at all because the show just started. The "Sensei" dude seems like a one trick pony so far though.

That's fine on it's own merits. You could hate on it as much as you would like and I wouldn't mind. I'll rip on some shows that "everyone" loves all day long. This show isn't really made to appeal to everyone which is obvious just from looking at it, and same OC doesn't always = same appeal. So far I love it and think it has some potential. That's just me.

Don't really think of it as hate, just initial impressions. I had no expectations about this at all and all I knew was that the creator was the same as OPM.

Poor Mob, he just wants to be macho.

I love his deadpan reactions and his eyes, Jesus Christ, those eyes. And no, I don't care about his eyes when after he explodes and goes in rage mode. I like his fish eyes more.

I knew it, Tsubomi was a bitch. Mob can do better than her.

That was intense - it finally reached 100% and it was hype! I really found myself engrossed, plus I even chuckled couple of times - so the humour is finally hitting the right notes. The animation was amazing - though I hope tachikawa / kameda & crew realize that not every scene has to be flashy sakuga & use the animation for broader narrative. 3.5/5

I didn't expect Mob to reach 100% so quickly but I'm glad he did because he looks so badass at 100%. Also the little OPM "easter egg" was in this episode as well. Gotta give props to Mob Psycho 100. 3 episodes in and I'm this excited to see the next episode. Unfortunately, waiting 7 more days proved such a difficult task that well...I read the manga. Still excited. Animation is amazing and I like the art style. Was a bit sad to see the reception for the show from the very day I seen the first episode. Some of my favorite animes don't really have the greatest start. From what I read, The story will get more complicated.

It has been a while since I was this obsessed with an anime though. I finally feel like watching other anime now. :)
