Should we call him ID?

ep 8 turns out a little boring to me... 7.5/10
but its true the ANTAGONIST is quite interesting..
4 more episode to go!
too much Justin Biba ! Not enough mumei..
too much dialouge and ikoma... STFU!...

damn, this series is slowly getting worse.

ikr , i dont like where this goin.. i prefer biba as just a friend with different ideology.. not the final bos or something..
it feel kinda rushed..

ikoma is stupid.. keep yelling to mumei like that.. it makes mumei nervous..
mumei is having her period again just like ep 5...but this is worst than episode 5..

hopefully biba is not the real enemy..
this anime is best to keep the pace slow with full of intense action !
not to end in rush like this..

im still hoping the real enemy is kabaneri FINAL BOS. . WITH an open ending...
no real enemy YET! because i want a 2nd season! xD

i want a long 25 episodes OF ADVENTURES with little politic and drama..
with many big bosses... just like in games..

This week episode was very good. Intense and dynamic action scenes. The characters' interactions kinda felt forced to me but tensions is building up and I like it °3°

Oh, what a surprise that Biba is a psychopath... not. Pretty much ruined the episode for me, especially with Mumei's character development being shoved aside for the sheer sake of increasing the conflict between Ikoma and Biba's group. And it's pretty ridiculous how everyone initially sucks up to Biba so quickly just because he kills loads of Kabane fairly quickly and that they so quickly change their tune once Ikoma continues to show he distrusts Biba. And why is it so bad that Mumei was turned into a Kabaneri via experimentation? I fail to see how that's any worse than becoming a Kabaneri by the means Ikoma did, especially when the only sacrifice to make is having to drink blood every now and then.

This show is really starting to go off the rails, and yes that pun was entirely intentional.

Dude, even in our world we use children as soldiers in africa and middle east. And we don't even have a single kabane.

If our world enters zombie apocalypse then FUCK even I will be the first to line up in that experiment.

Right now I see two reasons why Biba could want the main key. Reason one was because he knew Mumei would get tricked and he could use that to turn her against them.

Reason two: He intends to take the Kotetsujou and Ayame hostage to force his way into Kongokaku.

Another idea would be to use the Kotetusjou as the train from the first episode and destroy the gate to Kongokaku before storming through the debris and deploying those Kabane they have on his train. Though that wouldn't need the master key given they have more troops on their side.

Either way it's obvious that Biba would NOT be welcomed into Kongokaku.

But she consented to the experiments, did she not? She may not have known what it entailed, but she still wanted it. Besides, my point was more that becoming a Kabaneri by experimentation is no worse than becoming one in the way that Ikoma did. If anything, the experimentation is only inherently bad because Mumei was a child and probably didn't know what she was getting into and was only doing it because she trusted Biba and his judgement.

Still stupid whatever the case is.

She consented because Biba already brainwashed her into thinking power is key after making her KILL that Bushi. THat's no valid consent when he controled her from the start.

How Mumei turned into a fighter was basically THE SAME AS MIKASA.

"FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT", then both snap and kill the murderer.
No,Mikasa chose to fight because she thought ,t was the right thing to do...

Mumei on the other hand brain-washed by her fabulous Ani into thinking she need OP sasuke powers to be strong...

Also, Biba being the villain wasn't supposed to be a mystery, since Ikoma was suspicious of him the second he saw him last episode.

How?Ikoma became a Kabaneri using his magic trick because the alternative was being dead...From the way they told the Mumei backstory so far it sounds like she wasnt bitten or anything but she was injected with the virus for the very purpose of making her into a kabaneri...

this exactly. I just completely tuned off during that scene... It was a very powerful scene in AoT (at least for me) but showing the same thing again is boring.

It was a great scene in SNK because what Mikasa suffered in her childhood(she was about to get raped), and there is also her Ackerman blood....

In Mumei case, it felts like a complete ripoff.

definitely. also what made the SnK/AoT "version" of this scene really powerful was the flashback with the garden scene, where the butterfly was eaten by the grasshopper. just something to tie it into this world. it's not really worth it going into too much detail, the baseline is that AoT handled characterization and suspense very well. good writing vs. weak writing in display.

Such a good episode, Mumei's regressing shows her depth as a character. The fights were amazing, I mean have you seen Mumei jump and shoot? Or killing zombies on motorcycles? (almost as exciting as playing card games on motorcycles) Or Ikoma shooting that Kabane? Just spectacular.
Omg that plot twist at the end, I still can't believe it, I am so excited for next episode.

...............

EDIT: Don't worry about it, it's just that the sacasm in this was too real...

That's the power of indoctrination for you. Biba got his claws into Mumei at a very fragile time and then broke her by making her kill that Bushi. You can just see him rewriting her mind from the base up by removing her name.

So nobody has thought, for a second, that you should expect personalities like Mumei or Ikoma in a teenager?

I'm not saying that they are written solidly, but Mumei at least has always been inmature, so this "brainwash" you claim (which a lazy way to call it) is consistent with her character.
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; What is essential is invisible to the eye.

But does the heart have the right perspective?

The AoT's scene was supposed to be touching and serve as character development.
Kabaneri's scene was supposed to show that Biba is evil and manipulative. Being touching, dramatic o emotional was NEVER supposed to be its purpose.

[img]Yeah, let's send this guy to assassinate our enemy. Aw man, who'da thought it'd fail! The plan was foolproof!

m-maybe these corrupt crooks really trusted him

You completely missed the point of the plan, which was to send someone on the battlefield and try to kill Biba (the only time when he is not guarded by an army of his Hunters). And since people who would go into this kind of battlefield willingly and even survive there are extremely rare, they couldn't afford to be selective.
So they sent him. If he kills, great. If he dies, no harm done. The only reason the Hunters killed these men was because they were in the company of a man whom Biba wanted to personally kill.

Strike 2! Yukina had to trick you because she knew she had to protect the Princess. (Yukina is severely underrated IMO) Then you're going to Sling disrespect and punch Ikoma just for caring about you...Strike 3 bitch. I thought she was going to be more of an independent female lead in the beginning now it's the same old sob story.

Have you ever seen a 12 years old girl? Even without traumatic desperation to love her savior which she suffers from, she is someone who would be completely unable to resist the years of Biba's brainwashing.

After a quick rewatch of the previous episodes, the entire series is starting to look like an copy-paste version of High School of the Dead and AOT but will the bad points all magnified hilariously and the bright spots dimmed.
The plot while having a nice setting at first is quickly being shoe horned into the typical shonen plot of good v evil (what a waste), the characters too are getting the same treatment. Development wise, the hand of the author is at play getting the main characters out of sticky situations conveniently without having to make though decisions (thus preserving their innocence for the viewers).
It does not matter how good the animations are or how epic the ost sounds like, if the plot sucks it will just be another glorified Power Ranger series or Fairy Tail.
If the next episode pans out like what I expect, the series will once again receive the "meh" award from me. It is not great, but neither it is a total flop and that is more than enough for me to drop it, but being the sucker for anime I am (and adhering to the principle that once I pick up a series I must finish it), I will just have to stick to the bitter end, if bitter it must be.

All the complains going on here now are not inconsistencies, they're just their opinions on how the characters behave and where this story is going; What I was searching for is legit flaws, flaws that exist diregarding peoples opinions, things like the "train pushing" scene from episode 6 (Tho that scene was already explained in Ep 6 thread and it's not really a flaw anymore).

Also, don't worry...This kinds of jokes don't offend me or anything.

Biba has the swag of schnitzel and the brawn of Sesshomaru. It's amazing how the pink hair doesn't give him off as goofy. Black hair would've made him seem less charismatic and what hair would've made him a little to cliche.

Mumei seemed so much smarter in the other episodes...its almost as if they dumbed her down a few lvls as a plot device or something...smh

They're just setting up Ikoma to play the Hero. In the end only he as the main character will be able to touch her heart. Ayame will say some shit that'll make her mouth hang open a few times. Ayame is basically the plot convenient "heroine" that allows those two to exist on the train with the others. While she's some what active un a few scenes it seems as she's more of a figure head than her current status dictates. While I seen this coming from a mile away it is a tad annoying how most female characters seem to derive their "independence" from the MMC's guidance, with their implied consent, of course.

Not really...they made it pretty clear she likes Biba a fair amount more than anyone else, and I think it would be pretty unrealistic for her to suddenly turn her back on him the day they reunite (without a very good reason) after he cared for her for years.
