Sometimes it's hard to distinguish tourneys, matches, fights, and actual 'sports'. |

A tournament setting is not quite the same. If you allow that then Naruto should be on the list because of the Chuunin exams or Yu Yu Hakusho because of the Dark Tournament. |

Volleyball http://myanimelist.net/anime/1512/Court_no_Naka_no_Tenshi-tachi And I think boxing, I might have to watch this one to figure out where it goes. The synopsis doesn't say enough and the only review is kinda iffy. http://myanimelist.net/anime/5674/Ashita_no_Yukinojou That's what I've found so far, that court one is one I found when looking for that one witches basketball anime. And the other one is from the first 3 pages, so it doesn't seem like there's a lot of them yet. |

Updated With all of the sports anime in the database. I still need to go through and use BBcode on all the anime names and increase the header sizes. Also go through and at least mark the ones I know as having subs. It turns out that MAL doesn't consider a lot of game anime as sports. So Go, Chess, etc. So I do need help finding those. Also Trading Card Game(TCG) anime. If there's any sports anime not in there, just tell me and I'll add it. There's also a list at the end of anime I don't know which sport they do or which category it should fall under. If someone also has a good idea to make the categories better just tell me. |

I think Oban Star Racers qualifies for racing. It has a plot about saving the world or something like that but it's all built around a tournament setting of some intergalactic racing competition and there's a lot of focus on a bunch of the races, the rival pilots etc... Also while the rest of the franchise doesn't involve competition, the movie does, if only as a sidestory: http://myanimelist.net/anime/378/eX-Driver_the_Movie |
I probably regret this post by now. |

I'm thinking with so many sport animes and mangas that it would be easier to list them in the forum section per sport instead of on the side. This way if a use wants to find, say a hockey manga, just look under "Winter Sports" and get the list there. |
