Rider's role in UBW is a prime example of that - she has a lot of potential as a character, but ended up facing a very miserable death in this scenario. The same doesn't take place in Fate or HF, because she'd be a disposable character otherwise. As long as you look at F/SN as a 3-route novel and keep in mind that most characters have their moment to shine - as well as moments of misery in many cases -, it shouldn't be a problem though. Since Ufotable isn't adapting Fate, you'll miss 1/3 of that unless you decided to read the route. |

Like I said before in this thread, I believe that's because the wanted to fit in a lot of stuff. They altered the Issei scene as well. Shirou could have told her about it before, but I believe they just wanted to save time. All episodes so far were 23 minutes 40 seconds long, except for the longer ones. Things wouldn't have flown as well had they not left the op out of this one. The fact that they're extending the final episode of the first cour only supports the idea that there isn't that much time to cover everything they need to. |

| Rin did make a pretty important move - going after Kuzuki. She also set up the boundary field and whatnot (I can't recall whether that happened in the novel, but it doesn't really matter imo). While she couldn't save their asses, she was far from useless. And of course, Shirou cares more about others than himself, so seeing her in danger made him flip the switch and go nuts on Kuzuki. |

| oh look people throwing around more spoilers fantastic episode. loved the scenery of the fight: cold night with the snowflakes fight was great wonder who blondie with the red eyes is since he talked to sakura a few episodes ago and is deeply involved into the holy grail war it seems |

| Kuzuki-sensei's prowess surprised me a lot. I did not expect Saber to get completely wrecked. Shirou seems to have gained a new kind of power. Quite similar to Archer's wouldn't you say? Probably, I guess. Something bad seems to have happened to Shirou though, I wonder what's wrong. |
