| "Alright, i'll stick around here. exploring A little here and there." |
| "Okay, keep an eye on the dog and....give him a name " he says walking off to the car |
| "Watching you should be too hard. Hmmm...... what shall I name you?" |
| he takes the tarp off the car and gets in,he starts the engine and drives into the town with it |
| "How about Luke? I use to have a dog named Luke and you remind me of him." |
| He drove past them and into a garage in the house next door to where Natalie was and get out after turning off the engine |
| "I think that's what i'll call you. Well that solves that" He sits there wagging his tail as Natalie pet him on the head. |
| he walks over to them"Hey, so what did ya call him?" |
| "I named him Luke. He doesn't seem to argue with it so I think he's ok with it." |
| "Luke eh? good name for a dog i guess, i always wanted a dog, the wife always........." with that he stopped speaking and just looked away "uh...yeah lets......get the supplies sorted..." |
| Natalie looked at for moment but didn't ask what he was going to say. "Lets go then." she stood up ready to go. |
| He started walking through the town with Natalie "Right the Hardware store is practically full,the market is quite empty but we can check all the houses and other places for more stuff" |
| "The house I was in seemed to have everything you would normally find in a house, so there's somethings we can use in them." |
| "Wanna call that house yours then? ill take the one next to it" |
| "I'd love to. Best part is they're move in ready." She smiled. |
| "Good" he didnt smile, right now its the last thing he could do "Right we best organise where we are gonna put things" |
| "Alright. How do you think we should set it up. I mean it's still a small town but we have a lot of room in it right now?" |
| "Yeah, i was thinking we move most of the essential supplies into a main building in the center of town, have the walls protect the outside but have a secondary wall inside protecting the main street and around it" |
| "Make sense. Have a first and secondary defense and supplies are easily accessed in the center of town for everyone." |
| "Exactly, thats what i thought" |
| "Good plan. Now for the hard part, doing all of it." |
| "Well...i can gather all the wood and stuff for the walls.....we can probably have those up by the end of the day" |
| "Working on walls first it is then. Let's get started." |
| "Yup,we can use the trollies that the market has to transport the wood to the outskirts for the walls" |
| "Makes Things a little easier, saves of time and energy. Do they still work though?" |
| "i think so, they looked fine when i saw them" |
| "Works for me then. Shall we get started?" |
| "Yup, Go grab the bag from the hardware store and anything you think we will need and ill meet you back here" |
| "Sure thing. Anything in particular you need while i'm there?" |
| "Hammers,nails and some lamps" |
| "Alright then, I'll be on my way then. Oh, and do you want to take Luke or should I?" |
| "Uh you can take him, your dog after all" he walks away towards the market |
| "Okay, see ya. Come on Luke lets go." She heads toward the hardware store with Luke following her. |
| "Ugh why did i have to be reminded of them...." he sighs as he gathers up the trollies and started wheeling them down the street |
| Reaching the store she walked in grabbing a bag then grabbing supplies needed. "Do you think I should ask him about his family? I mean I don't want to invade privacy but I can't really help by wonder." She looked down at Luke just sitting there looking back at her like he was listening. "Wish you could talk. But at least you listen." |
| He kept pushing the trollies down the street thinking back to his family and took out the picture from his jacket "why did you leave without me....." |
| She continued placing items in the bag. "Guess I'll wait till there's a good moment to ask or he decides to tell his story. Well I think thats all we'll need for now. Ready to go?" Luke barks. "Off we go then." |
| He pushes them to where they were currently and he just looked at the photo |
| "Look who it is. Perfect timing. We've got supplies" She smiles glancing at what he was holding for a moment |
| "huh? oh good..." he puts the photo in his pocket "Lets get started then" |
| "You okay? Not like you to space out like that." |
| "Y-yeah im fine....just uh...i dunno....." he leans against the trollies and looks into the sky |
| "You make it hard not to notice, but hey you've got me to talk to if you need it" |
| "Thanks i uh....need it...." he said as he looked back at her, pretty much on the verge of breaking down |
| "I was wondering when you were going to need it." she put the stuff down and walked over next to him. |
| he took the photo out his pocket and showed it to her "Those are my .......wife and two daughters" |
| She looked at it for a moment recognizing it as the same one he had dropped in his sleep. "What happened?" |
| "Well....i was a cop back in the day in texas........Austin, when all this started i got in my car and rushed home, to find everything gone, my wife, my kids...everything.....and i dont even know why they left without me..." |
| "What if they did wait to the point they couldn't wait any longer?" |
| "Then why didnt they leave any way to contact me? i looked for weeks for them" |
