Btw anyone can make that Ida fapping scene ?
"Children of Japan. And those who were once children. Listen! This is not a dream. This is not fiction. In reality, your superheroes were always fighting. To teach viewers courage and the meaning of justice! No matter how many enemies there are. No matter how strong evil is. Just remember. Does any another country have so many heroes? Has any another country been protected by multiple superheroes? Stand with me, friends! Remember when you used to watch your superheroes!
Once you may have given up this dream. But today, you can be a hero!"

Being in a fake relationship with Isoshime seems more unbelievable, harder to swallow, and life-threatening then helping Mui solve her problem. Just saying.

He just met her, so he has no reason to care about her or want to help her. That is some flawed logic, and I cannot support it. There are times in life when you meet someone, not necessarily "love at first sight", and an instant connection forms. This is even more true in cases of meeting someone during incidents of high adrenaline and/or trauma, such as how Takeshi met Mui. This being an anime, and fictional, the whole "love at first sight" cliche could be applicable as well. Mui's situation also mirrors one in Takeshi's own life, one that he has been unable to fix for whatever reasons. This gives him plenty of reasons to want to help Mui. Emotions are tricky things, you can hate someone you've known your entire life and love someone you've only just met. It's just the way life tends to go, I've seen it happen around me as well as had it happen to me.

As for Takeshi instantly knowing Blast Fog, the speculation right now is that sword belonged to his mother. If the sword really did belong to his mother, or even if he comes from any kind of magical lineage, it is possible that he knew on instinct. It's too early to come to any conclusions about this as of yet.
Odds are I'm not going to find my way back to a thread after my first post, it happens on occasion but not often. So, if I say something that offends you and you feel the need to force your opinion on me because obviously everyone should have your opinion or none at all, feel free to post it in the thread that I'll probably never see again. However, if you are interested in intelligent discourse, feel free to message me.

What is it with the hate for the characters? They are pretty generic, but that applies for most of the anime characters in general. And finally some action. So far it is nothing great, but way better than Wizard Barristers: Banmeshi Cecil. That was REALLY utter crap.

Lol @ the fight scene.

The group managed to find Mui no problem in a extremely short amount of time without any knowledge of the area.
Apparently small chunks of ice can break a larger piece of ice and a sword cannot.
Mui's bother failed notice fire guy was doing something and only focused on Takeshi?

Another hotheaded, inconsiderate hero that breaks all violation only to get him and his friends into problem, oh man, how many time have I already seen this? (not to mention he is beginner but he somehow manages to find great power in himself and only by pure sheer of his own will he miraculously manages to defeat much tougher and experienced enemy). I expected cliche but this was just too unrealistic - he would be dead by now. And academy director is supporting him in this... I guess I don't have to write more...

There is a time when a show, while not being bad, also just doesn't give you that needed push to continue to watch. This is such a show. I was watching this episode, but midway through it I suddenly asked myself why I was watching it, and I couldn't come up with an answer.

I'll check back when the season is over and see what people think.

Seriously, what did you expect? Anime heroes go always against all odds, find great power in themselves, perhaps with some help from their friends, win miraculously and so forth. If you can't stand this, then do not watch this type of anime.

Hmm I've been wondering for a while now...it's his first time using that spell/attack right? How did he know how to use it (or even call it)? All he knows is that he'll be able to use someone else's magic if he uses the cartridge in it. How did he know what kind of attack it'll be or what to call it O__o Do they just come up with names on the fly? Or is it one of those questions that's answered with "for some reason he was able to..."?

If I am not mistaken, most magic shows/books use names as a way to strengthen magical attacks. So in general, the attack name should not matter. But since the show brushes straight through such details, it is nearly impossible to actually tell why they even have names for the attacks, whether saying the original name is important, etc.

As I watched this, my honest thought was:

Anime heroes go up to a certain point, but this is getting to be stupid.

As Takuan_Soho mentioned, it's becoming more difficult to keep going with this, as it's turned into more and more of a purely gung-ho action series, with not-very-hidden themes between Takeshi and Mui.

He should seriously drop her already.

I honestly think they could've done more with this than this romantic shounen.

We'll see how it goes....

Pretty much this. Takeshi is the worst kind of MC, reminds me of Gunzou from Ars Nova but at least that anime has great side characters like Kongo and Takao. Kojou has 10x more personalities than Takeshi and that's saying something considering how bad Kojou is.

This anime is just... meh. I can't relate nor like the characters at all. Everyone seems so generic and boring, it's already bad enough that the story is full of cliche but if the characters are equally bad then....... Normally a bad anime can be saved by terrific characters but this one seems hopeless. This is even worse than Machine-doll and I can't believe I could ever say that to any action anime. What a waste of time, bandwidth, and HDD space.

Generic doesn't always mean bad. A character can be generic and still be fun to watch. The characters in this though... urgh. How to say it, they have no redeeming features? it's just so depressing to watch them. I can't even root for them during the fight.

And how could Wizard Barristers be worse? at least that one has a much more interesting concept than this crap. Battling wizards have been done to the death (look no further than Witch Craft Works) but wizard lawyers? that must be the first.

So I don't know if this was in every episode and I just failed to miss it until it became extra bad in this episode, or if this is the first real time it has happened: Where the fuck was Takeshi's nose the entire episode? Like in the 24 minutes the episode played he had a nose drawn for maybe 3 minutes.

Also I know Takeshi got a lot of hate for being an OP MC this episode, but realistically it's the sword and not him at all. Ever since the episode where he got Twilight everyone in the show was making a big deal about how powerful the sword was and how powerful the previous user was. Even the villains at the end of this episode where like, oh yeah, Twilight is going to be a problem.
So until he gets really OP don't show as much hate when it's all the swords doing.

I previously said I liked the character designs but forgot to mention that little fact about his nose. Anyway, even if the sword is op, from what we've been given he wasn't even able to control it to any extent before this episode. All of a sudden though he can use magic he doesn't even understand or know about. I do know it was also part of his friends magic, but he needed to control that also to use it. Again though he wasn't able to do so until this episode. I'm like, what changed? Does he need to be in desperate situations to use his magic. On top of that he beat Mui's brother who we all know easily has years more experience in using magic.

The pacing of this episode was a bit confusing but the battle scenes were better than usual compared to other animes.

The mood of the characters in a life-or-death situation confuses me.

A lot of people are saying Takeshi's personality is bland. I will admit, he is kind of crap, as a matter of fact most of the characters are kind of bland now that I think about it.

I really hope Takeshi actually has a meaning to what he's doing besides simply doing it for Mui; too simple.

The only reason I haven't dropped this series is because it's so bad it's providing some form of entertainment. But the amount of facepalm in this series is just becoming too much. The characters are poorly developed and the action isn't even good enough to justify all the nonsense. Mui and Isoshima are basically the dumbest female leads I've ever seen...I can't imagine this series even getting past season 1. It's horrendous in every conceivable category.

...You know, before watching this episode, I actually thought that Mui might have learned her lesson, that her brother cannot be wololo'd with her chanting "nii-san!" repeatedly, and prepared for a bit more for when she eventually met her brother again. Maybe like some strategy to drag her brother back home. Guess I was wrong.

And that MC's action....what? Chasing after a girl so recklessly, just like that? With a shaky reason like that? I'll find it more believable if he give a reason like "just because" or "I don't know, I just have to", or something along those lines.

I don't know why I watched this anymore... maybe a subconscious desire to make other shows I watch look better?

I agree with all the negative points that others have brought up. The characters are bland and moronic, have reasoning like a bucket of water. The dialogue is tripe and the plot so far seems at least to be very predictable (brother joins bad magicians, mother is an ex übermagician that previously owned the MC's sword etc).
Still, I can't stop watching this...
