Just wrong. Conditioning makes all of the personality, especially if they have been genetically engineered.

Unless they have been conditioned to be melodramatic, their personality makes no sense and was just random. So it's either a character/plot-hole or information the audience was not given in advance about the characters which was crucial and thus made it look bad.

So in either case you have to blame the writing for doing such a bad job.

Either not providing the viewer with crucial information,

Yeah, they're really tiptoeing around the radiation thing and it would have been useful to convey WHY the racetrack was so packed with radiation (strontium-90 in the mountain of bones we never see in the anime). Shame it didn't air before the Fukushima meltdown so it'd have been less controversial to run with the radiation theme.

Nevertheless, I do love this show and I guess I don't pick up on what they omit because what I've read in the manga fills in a lot of the blanks. I'll be glad when things start getting absolutely ridiculous in 2 or 3 episodes. The people who are puzzled about things now will look back on these first few episodes and yearn for their (comparative) foundation in logic. It's going to be glorious following non-readers' reactions.

Seriously, I'd recommend anyone interested at all with where this show is going read the manga. There's scanlations at the usual places and raws available on nyaa. It's just the greatest, most deliciously absurd thing ever and it's wonderful that it's getting an adaptation.

Aoi is the best Coppelion. Objective fact.

?? Maximizing gene expression is exactly the point of the girls' abilities mentioned. They doesn't account for their personalities in absolute manner, though. My impression is that the girls themselves are no different than test subjects, sent to resolve situations beyond drills and training when needed. Perhaps exactly there lies the success of their missions.

Quite a nice OP, action coming up?
I liked the first episode better, didn't really feel the emotion and feels pretty fast paced. Didn't expect Ibara to cry like that o.o

So manga has fanservice and this doesn't? D:> whhyy

They have been genetically engineered so I would assume that they have removed any genes that would be responsible for none-beneficial behavior in their mission (rescuing people).

They have been trained. So I guess they have the ability to restrain their emotions and act more professional.

If all that is not the case, and they actually have been created to be typical girls who can't control their emotions then I think the scientists fail, or the viewer lacks information.

I agree. But at that point their behavior was questionable because we don't know the cause for it now. So I had a hard time understanding why they behaved the way they did and thus not enjoying it.

You see there is a certain threshold of suspense of disbelieve I have for different anime.
This anime seemed to me more realistic than other (like SnK for example) so I expected them to think their scrip through, but in my eyes they didn't.

Okaaay we're done with the second episode and i am still not entirely sure what this show is trying to deliver, it felt like it was rushed, can't compare much as i have yet to get my hands on the manga but it did felt like it was rushed. Maybe it's the style of how the story is being delivered or maybe they meant to make it like that idk but meh..

The whole atmosphere is too heavy, i don't get where they come from, why'd the dad have to die all on his own leaving his child behind all alone? how did ibara catch the child? What are the other 2 characters doing there?

There's so much to complain about this series after just 2 episodes and by now it's probably getting only 5/10 in my book, but seeing how high they manga scored and all the popularity it's been getting, i'm going to keep my mouth shut and bet everything on the following episodes and hopefully those characters shown in the OP and ED will give us some spike.

Though I guess adapting 7 chapters into one is partly to blame for weird scenes. I'm guessing the off dialogue bits are from the source though :/

This was pretty much like last week no good explanation of what happened to the city, tho we did get somewhat of a explanation for the girls being able to walk around without a problem this time.
Still the events feel rushed and especially the scene where the woman fell down didn't make sense, did she trow the little girl up or something.

There was too much melodrama and kinda stupid bullshit that went on in it. I like the maturity of the show and the fact it doesn't really have fanservice so far, but it's just so dramatized to the point of ridicule at times.
They broke out of jail in the chaos, so what? I'm pretty sure that literally and figuratively counts as a "get out of jail for free" card for them to rejoin society.
And what's with the overdramatics at the end? The guy could've easily been saved but he just decided not to cause he's a moron, even though the copter at the end was RIGHT THERE! He coulda been fine and his daughter would've still loved him but no they just had to play the drama card.

There's a lot of great qualities about the show but it's stuff like the melodrama that's downing it. I'm still a bit half and half about the show, not sure if I'll go past episode 8-10 or just drop it. We'll see.

EVERYONE behaving like the most illogical and stupidest fuck ever created, I mean wtf? Random infanticide sidestory than ends with a hug, so many awkward and out of place dialogues (You are no doll! why are you so strong? I just wanna see my daughter smile so I die because she only wants to have at least one family member left! Fuck common sense!). Not to mention weird scenes like when she was saving the girl. One moment you see her holding onto the mother's hand and the girl is in her mothers arms. Then she let's go and suddenly the girl is in her arms although she used her second arm to hold on to the building. Dat magic.
So much disappointment and it's the kind of disappointment that doesn't relate to one specific thing but the whole way the show is presented, which is just thoughtless and lame. So I'm not having high hopes for this to recover unfortunately.

Two words.

Thank you.
I had given up hope in humanity after seeing all those "good episode, deep episode, step up from last week" posts. Like seriously? No, this was fucking horrible. :s Especially the scene with saving the kid via magic is simply ridiculous.

Coppelion, y u so bad?

Oh shit, you two thought so too? I was thinking I was getting stupid or something for not understanding this episode since the guys on Nyaa were telling it was good and bla bla, but it turns out that it was really just bad.
Seems like a lot a people just care about the animation. This was so incoherent, the dad chooses to stay behind and let his child be forever alone and the MC calls him "strong"!? And this was only one of the few examples. The girls were being deceived by the couple but even the husband didn't know where the kid was?

I call bullshit, man so disappointed. I had high hopes, the only genuinely sad thing was Miku losing her family. Way too much crying, only reason I'll stick with this shit (well almost shit) is because one of my favorite YouTubers does live reactions to it. Really hope it gets better.

I felt like yeah, the melodrama was a little forced, and I was totally expecting Ibara to be fake crying and then get up and shoot Yukiko (because let's be real, that crying totally came out of NOWHERE), but it was still a somewhat entertaining episode. Aoi actually turned out to be my favorite this episode, with a couple of good character moments, but the script was just... kinda bad. I don't know if the Anime-Koi subs are just not very good or if the script was really that awkward.

At any rate, it's still the show I'm probably enjoying most at this point, so I'll keep going with it. Hopefully it'll improve as it goes on.

Honestly, my biggest worry is that while I only watched two shows last season (Servant x Service and Free!), I enjoyed them both IMMENSELY. I'm not really finding that this season, but hopefully one of the shows I'm watching will end up surprising me with amazingness.

Agree so much. This episode had some of the worst and most illogical dialogue I've ever seen. Talk about poor scripting.

And all those emotional breakdowns...which I can understand to an extent but for the most part, I think the reactions are a bit over-the-top.

I'll still stick with it because I like the premise and am waiting for things to be explained.

I started watching hoping this anime would be similar in tone to Mushishi. Perhaps a slightly episodic story revolving around the main characters and their interactions with the people or things in run-down Tokyo. While this episode proved that they may be heading in that direction, this episode was just... Dumb. Really, really dumb.

I am glad it's not only me. I like it just because of the backgrounds and OP. (and the dog) But honestly I can't even stand 5minutes I kept skipping and skipping through the end. I don't know if the manga is supposedly better or not. The drama....is it even a drama? Okay it's sad , and so? Just go die already, all of you. And since when and why can that child be saved? Really doesn't make sense. This series has a great story but bad at storytelling.

It's been a long time I don't rant this much. But I am still giving a chance tho if there's some action or intensity later.
Your so-called peaceful world makes me bored, so don't blame me if I destroy all of it.

I've read ahead to Volume 8 in the manga (untranslated raws).

Some people may or may not like the next episode (I'm sure it'll be fine, but there'll be some appeal to emotion again which isn't exactly the author's strong point), but you'll want to check back in a week or two before you completely drop it. Once Shion and Kanon make their appearance, that pretty much marks the turning point where the series becomes more action than drama and my god is it ever fun to follow.

At least I think we'll be introduced to Haruto next ep (or maybe the next). You'll like him.

Episode too chaotic, all in one breath with the narrative plot that infarcisce with all the info and feeling generous. All too forcibly ridiculous. The real climate have created the BGM, much nicer than the rest. Drawing still bad, because they insist to exaggerate the contours of the characters, it seems more suitable for series such as Seitokai no Yakuindomo in the comic moments, not in this post-apocalyptic environment. For now I still budding TV series, the next there should be action, we'll see! XD

Ah! The ending is nice.
