| He reaches up and gently touches her left ear. he skritches it gently, looking into her face for any sings of pleasure or discomfort. He was astonished at how soft they were, and how beautiful. |

| The fur was softer than silk, and shorter than that of her tail. The tail which was currently wagging slowly back and forth. Really, that did feel kind of good... Her eyes closed, and almost unconsciously, she tilted her head, leaning slightly into his touch. |

| He smiles and continues his ministrations as he leans forward and kisses her on the forehead. after a minute or so he stops and says its about time to head back to the manor. |

| She nodded, taking one last look around the cave. Really, she found that she didn't want to leave. Like the forest, there was something about this place that made her feel welcome. But it would be uncomfortable to stay here overnight without any blankets. |

| He notices her hesitation. "Remember, you can go about the grounds as you wish. You will know where the barriers are, especially now that I have awakened your talents. But the property is vast, so I don't think you'll have a problem running out of places to explore before you find the barriers" He leads her out of the cave and back to the manor. There, he calls upon a servant and asks her to procure several outfits to include pants for Virane, then walks her to her room. "Have a pleasant rest, Virane, and have sweet dreams" He walks down the hall and into his room. |

| "Thank you." As soon as they had left the cave, her ears and tail had faded away, though the luminous glow of her skin and eyes remained until they went inside. She went into her room, and once more removed the dress. Leaving the window open so the fresh air could enter, she crawled beneath the blankets and curled up. |

| He lay on his bed, not bothering to get under the covers, and lay awake deep in thought for the rest of the night. In the morning, he rises early and has a modest breakfast prepared and sends a runner out to the rest of Virane's pack to see if they would like to have breakfast with them. |

| The rest of her pack declined, but Virane woke early and dressed in a gown similar to the one she had worn yesterday, though this one was dark blue, and had slits up each side over her hips. This time, she didn't need someone to show her the way; she remembered the way to the dining room on her own. That, and the smell of the food. She knew that was where she would find Philip. |

| When Virane enters the dining hall, the first thing she notices is that there is significantly less food, though still more than enough for the two of them. Philip is sitting at the head of the table near a roaring fire waiting for her to arrive. When she walks into the room, he stands up and offers her a chair near him, and pushes it in for her when she sits down. He resumes his seat and says "help yourself." |

| "Thank you." Giving him a smile, she filled a plate and began to eat. Although she wasn't as hungry as she had been yesterday, she would still need to eat a bit more than usual for the next few days to rebuild the energy reserves that she'd lost while in captivity. But with the quality of the food here, that wouldn't take long at all. |

| He fills a plate as well and starts to eat. "So, Virane, what would you like to do today?" |

| She thought about that for a moment. "You said there was a lake nearby? Perhaps we could go there. You could teach me more about how to use magic." Although she was a bit wary of using it, she still was eager to learn. |

| "It sounds like a plan, then. I look forward to it." A servant comes up to Philip and whispers something in his ear. "Ah, that is wonderful news. Virane, it seems that your package has arrived earlier than expected. It is waiting in your room for you" |

| She blinked in surprise. "A package...for me?" What could it be? Then, she remembered. Probably the clothes she had asked for the day before. Pushing her chair back, she stood up. "Please excuse me for a moment." But before leaving, she paused. "Would you...like to come with me?" |

| Her word strike him and he is shocked. He ragains his compsure before reply "Yes, I think I ould like that very much." He gets up from his seat and follow Virane. |

| Moving out of the dining room, she headed back up towards her own room. This path was easy enough to remember, but going anywhere else was going to take some exploration. When she finally reached her room, she opened the door and went inside, leaving it open for him. |

| He walks in and closes the door behind him. The package is quite large, easily 20 different outfits. |

| Her eyes widened. "Wow..." Again, she found herself surprised by the extravagance. "This many... Three or four would have been plenty." Opening the package, she looked over each outfit, very pleased with what had been chosen. "I love them; thank you." |

| He smiles warmly at her and says "You're very welcome. So, why don't you pick an outfit you like and I'll have the chef make us a luch for the lake." After he finishes that line, he turns around and heads toward the door. |

| When the door closed behind him, she picked out what she would wear. Removing the dress, she replaced it with a pair of black shorts, and a dark blue button-up silk shirt. Opening the door, she stepped back out into the hall. "What do you think?" |

| "beautiful, Virane, simply beautiful." He hold out his arm for her and when she takes it, he leads her to the grounds and down to the lake. the walk takes about an hour. (sorry about the late reply, I had a pretty cool group come in from canada asking about portland...where I am from...so I spoke with them for a few minutes) |

| (Don't worry about it.) Virane walked beside him silently, enjoying the warmth of the sun shining down on them. As much as she liked the light of the moon, she liked the sun just as well. Looking around her as they walked, she took in the scents around them. |

| When they get to the lake, she sees that it is large, maybe 2 miles across, and from where they stand, the mountains at the other end are about half the size they would be if they were right at their base. The water is clear and pristine, and she is able to see the bottom for quite a way. Animals graze at the shore, not bothered by the presence of people. A small rabbit hops up to Virane's feet and sniffs a bit before hopping off. |

| She smiled, kneeling down and watching the animals. Inwardly, she was surprised that they remained here at the lake. Either the wind was blowing the wrong way for them to catch her scent, or they could smell her, and knew that she wasn't a threat to them. Wolves never killed prey unless they were hungry, and as she had just eaten, she wasn't interested in hunting. |

| Philip watches her closely, then looks up at one of the deer. He makes eye contact with it, and after a moment the deer walks toward Virane and nuzzles her cheek. |

| If she had been startled before, this completely shocked her. Slowly, so as not to frighten the shy creature, she reached up, placing her hands on the deer's muscular neck and slowly stroking it. "Hello, swift runner." |

| The deer snorts gently, obviously enjoying the touch. Philip walks over to the deer and pats it gently. "Thank you Kino." he says to the deer. It snorts again, then walks away. |

| She stood up, looking over at him. "You know that deer?" What was more, he was able to communicate with it. "You can speak with animals." She glanced in the direction the deer had gone. "Telepathically?" There were so many questions she wanted to ask, but she didn't want to seem too nosy. There might be things he didn't want to talk about. |

| He smiles as he walks to the edge of the water. "this place truly is beautiful, don't you think?" |

| "It is," she agreed, taking his silence at her questions for an affirmative. If he was able to speak with animals, that indicated that he was probably of some kind of animal descent, himself, like she was. But then, if even he didn't know what he was, it was unlikely that she would ever be able to figure it out. "I can speak with animals as well, to an extent. Some are harder to speak with than others, and as a rule, I tend to avoid speaking with herbivores if I can help it. I do not want to end up hunting one I have spoken with. But in this case, I think I could make an exception." But that reminded her or something important. "We will need to find a way to work out which animals you know, and which ones that I am free to hunt. I do not want to accidentally make a mistake." |

| "hmm, well, there is a problem with that. I know all of the animals on this land. However well I know them though, both they and I know that there is a...pecking order in this world, and that carnivors, like wolves, need to eat. I have told them that we have new guests, and that they would probably be hunted, but I think that the pack will stay mostly in the forest, am I correct? They are ok with being hunted, because they know that is serves the whole of the world. If a wolf stopped hunting, she would most likely become like a caged beast, the fire in her eyes snuffed out like a candle. So I say, hunt, for that is what you do, just do not hunt the endangered creatures I have harbored here" |

| "Of course. Actually, truth be told, I would like to meet some of those animals. Coming from a forest such as this, I would imagine that they would have become quite intelligent, and might have interesting things to say." She glanced over at him with a smile. "And you have my promise that those animals that may fall prey will not be slaughtered needlessly. A wolf may hunt to raise its skills, but we would never kill without cause. Only when we are hungry do we make a kill, and we make certain that none of that kill is wasted." |

| "Then remind me to introduce you sometime. they are a bit shy, as the majority of their kin have become extinct, but we are trying to revive the population." He moves over and sits next to Virane and looks out over the water. |

| "What you are doing is very admirable. Trying to bring them back like this, I mean. I am certain they appreciate it. I know I do. You saved my pack." Drawing her knees up to her chest, she wrapped her arms loosely around them, gazing out over the water. |

| He puts his arm aroung her and hugs her gently "I'm glad you're enjoying yourself here" |

| "I cannot tell you how much what you have done means to me. If there is ever anything I can do for you, tell me. My life is yours." She meant every word. If he asked her to lay down her life for him, she would do it. That was how great her debt was to him. Not only her own life had been saved, but also those of her pack. |

| He genlty kisses her on the lips, a dry chaste kiss, and pulls away, leaving his arm around her and them in silence as they look out across the water. |

| A faint blush appeared on her face, then. She had been kissed before, and this one had no passion in it whatsoever, but it still sparked something within her that she was unfamiliar with. Still, it wasn't unpleasant, and she didn't pull away from him. Really, it was nice, sitting here like this. The slightest hint of a smile came to her lips, and she gazed at the lake, listening to the sounds around them. |

| He smiles at the effect his kiss had on her, but wonders to himself if he should have kissed her a bit longer. He places an arm around her nd they sit in silence for a while before he speaks up. "So what else is on your list today?" |

I know that this needs to be taken slowly, especially since I am just now beginning, but a little practice should not harm anything, should it? And it seems to me this is a perfect place to do it; it is easy to relax here, and quiet enough to concentrate on what we are doing." |

| He nods. "Okay, Virane. Do you have an elemental that calls out to you, do you know? Maybe the fierce power of fire, the gentle yet strong power of earth? Or maybe the quiet controlling nature of water, or possibly the sharp searing ablity of the air?" As he speaks, he brings forth a ball of each element and has it revolve around her. |

| She looked at each one in turn, but her gaze continued to be drawn to the dancing flames. Reaching out, she cupped her hands around it, keeping just enough distance that she wouldn't be burned. "Fire," she whispered. "The most destructive and unpredictable of the elements." |

| "Excellent choice. This element should be easier for you to work with, then." He sets up a candle about 5feet from her. "Okay, I want you to concentrate like you did earlier, but concentrate only on the wick of the candle." |

| She nodded, focusing her gaze on the wick at the top of the candle. Narrowing her eyes, she blocked out everything else until the candle was all that she could see. Envisioning the tip of the wick catching fire, she tried to will the flames into being, while at the same time trying to make certain to keep them controlled. |

| So far, nothing was happening. She frowned, closing her eyes and trying to remember the sensation that she had felt before in the cave, when he had opened her body up to the energy within the cave, within the very air. That warmth was the key to this, she knew. If she could just recapture it, and let it fill her body, she would be able to do this. |

| (Can I make a request? Would it be possible to have more than just a few words for a turn? I try to write at least a paragraph, even if it's only a short one. It's kind of disappointing to wait for a turn and get only a short sentence.) Virane let the heat of the energy fill her, and she let out a soft sigh in response. Once again, she was shocked by how...well, good it felt. It was just shy of being actual physical pleasure, but it was enough to set her body to tingling. Letting it gather within her, she tried to form it into a ball, focusing it on the wick of the candle. |

| He watches as the candle lights."very good, Virane. Now we're going to try to have you control it." He places two cndles on either ide of the one already there. "I want you to try lighting the two on the end at the same time, leaving the one in the middle alone." |

| This would be a bit more difficult, but she thought she could still pull it off. Blocking the middle candle from her mind, she focused instead on the others. Once again, she concentrated the energy within her into a single point, then separated it into two, which she then sent towards the two candles. |
