How do people rate this again? Like, if its enjoyable, do we have to give it 8~9 out of 10? If I did that, should I give 10/10 to Love-to ru?

Over already. Enough already with SAO. At first everything seems really promising.

But then SAO is too rush paced while ALO is very slow and boring!!!! A-1 should learn how to build up story. They just wasting time giving the fan service. 7/10 for me though earlier I was thinking of giving 8/10. But then the MMO theme will make SAO looks good in the eye of those who just find mainstream anime is the best anime ever made when we have BTOOM, Zetsuen no Tempest and Psycho-Pass that airing at the same time as SAO.

If you like it, it's 10/10
If you think it was ok then you give it a 9/10
If you think it was bad then you give it an 8/10
If you think it's absolute shit then you give it a 7/10

I still think the side stories where Kirito went and helped random people, or when he was simply sitting in the grass with Asuna etc. where the best moments of this series. This episodes, along with some of the floor cleaning ones definitively deserve a 8 or so. It went a great bit downhill when he had to join the Knights of the Blood Oath and ALO wasn't as good right of the bat, even though it had it's moments, too.

The ending was okay i guess. The scenes with Suguha were a bit weird. I guess she still is somewhat heartbroken.

When they mentioned that Agil uploaded " The Seed" and that everyone could make a private server it made me feel like 10-15 years ago, where, while Ultima Online was THE mmo, there were hundreds of more or less popular private servers, and probably thousands no one ever knew. And until the heavy customization started, which wasn't really prevalent (imho) in the first two to three years, characters theoretically were easy to transfer.

If you think about that, if you ignore the Virtual Reality, we already had this vision SAO portraits. There are a lot more things that games already had 10, 20, even 30 years ago, but got lost or at least buried, and only recently some of them are rediscovered.

Anyways, if they do a second season, i would prefer it more in SAO style, but i'd still watch it if it was like ALO. Overall, i think i'll give SAO a 7. Making it on par with Guilty Crown, where i don't understand the hate, either.

But when a 5 second scene during the ending (not talking about either SAO or GC), with no actual impact on the past episodes (not even something like "it was just a dream", and even then it would be stupid, as you either enjoyed the past episodes, or you didn't) can change the rating of a whole series from "very good" to "bad" or even worse, and where every choice is wrong (having sidestories: Filler. Even if it's in the manga/LN etc. Not having side stories: Shallow story, no character development. Every beach episode is automatically only filler and fan service (even if it would be Baywatch: The animation)), i can somewhat see how it comes to pass.

And they all lived happily ever after.

This should have ended shortly after the SAO arc. The ending is rather lame. The whole ALO arc is not only rather weak, the art is inferior to the beautiful scenery porn of SAO.

I wanted to see Asuna confront Sugou. She's the one who has a real beef with him. Her time in ALO seems to have broken her spirit. We never see her again with the fire she had in SAO.

The only fire she had in SAO was the one she used to cook.

Nice group pic. They include Sachi this time.
Kayaba with his sign is so out of character.

The only problem I have with this pic is that it almost completely blocks out Lyfa and Asuna with the giant logo floating in the center ...
I got it all

BTW End Arts to complete sets! From Episode 24 in the spoiler
Obvious nice render of defiant Kirito to protect Asuna.

Clean Art of this last episode
SACHI! OMG! SACHI! Dear Sachi! I love you! I still remember you!

FINALLY! All the arts in the spoiler
in a wonderful collage. But you need to tell if you want it 1080p full. It proves easily of the visual and tremendous outpour of artists.

Quite the nice last gift to all. It was a splendid time to share much with you all of the end arts as much as I could, I pretty much got them all. Surely the community should realize SAO when it comes to visuals many will STFU cause it’s the pure truth. The series was shining with no problems visually at all times. Whether they were Suguha’s breasts or the Tree itself, always the eye candy treats no matter what.

As such invite anyone to contradict me in the visuals. Cause maybe with other series it might not surpass to some extents but it certainly PARS it easily.

I thought the end was good. Not the best but enough to watch. Personally, I hated the ALO ark. Man, it ruins the fucking awesomeness of SAO. I hope the animators make GGO a fucking masterpiece because after the ALO arc, you're gonna need to pull your shit up.

I would of appreciated the ending more if the characters paid tribute to Sachi by visiting her grave, even if it's not something done in the LN.

I don't get all those people who rages about this anime, if you didn't like it, don't watch it. Jesus, every single episode I see something like "the continuation of the shittiest anime.." blabla etc. It's freaking annoying, why didn't you stop when you started to dislike it jeez.

As for myself, I loved this show, I loved the feel, I loved the characters, I loved the soundtrack and I loved the story. 10/10 on my side.

Can't wait to see if there's a continuation on GGO.

Jesus you all couldn't wait! 700+ comments before UTW even released their copy.

SAO arc was better than ALO. I think that is pretty common among the fans.

It was a satisfying last episode except for the Kirito's mouthing dialogue part at the end...seriously wtf! Yay for 'crossing fields' being the ED. Best song without a doubt.

It ended pretty well. I have no idea if that is how the ALO arc actually ends or not. I'm hoping the rest of the novels get an adaptation into another animated season. It's obvious money won't be an issue given the amount it's made already and will make in the future with all the merchandise.

I'll miss this series. When it's all said and done I think this show nets an objective 8. But, considering I liked the characters a lot and the SAO arc and it's world were just awesome I'm giving it a subjective 9 (even with the ALO semi blah episodes).

PS Haters gonna hate. The amount of vocal haters on this show is...just wow.

well, first of all, HATERS gonna HATE...

seriously, most people will say this is the best anime for 2012, sure it isn't that good of an adaptation, too many rushed scenes and some details where skipped, but it still attracted many fans, from kid to adult, TOO MANY fans, despite its flaws, hate all you want, but you cant change the fact that this anime became a hit...not everyone who watch this anime has a mind like OURS and not everyone read the LN...most just want to enjoy and feel what its like to live in a VRMMO, and SAO achieve what it was aiming for...even gamers tell it that it was nicely done...

IMHO, i give this a 8/10, a well balanced anime from romance to action to comedy to drama to suspense, ALO arc was just not that good and was rushed, but nevertheless, most people watching this anime will say this is the best anime for 2012, so just accept the fact and get over it... we cant do shit about that, majority wins...xD

don't worry, i know IMG tags are turned off...i'm just lazy to change my sig... xD

First part: 9. Great pacing, characters' development, animation, music and, the most important part, plot itself. I liked everyone there including Kayaba Akihiko.
Second part: 3. So much fan-service, Suguha (forgive me, her fans) was pissing me off all the time, not a very involving story, poor fights. Only Yui was adorable, I missed other characters.

(9+3)/2=6.

6/10 for Sword Art Online from me.

I liked the fact that they kissed again finally get jelous girls who love him.
I really thought Kirito was gonna kill Sugou when he lifted the knife to his throat.
Sugu needed some attention the dancing for me was sweet but I'm glad Kirito has only eyes too Asuna.so I disliked the dance for too long I know she deserves somthing just not shipping them though.
Overall SAO: 9.5 /10
2nd : 7.5/ 10
But I like that they are back together so it ends up for me 10/10

I was liking this episode, but then the ending kinda killed it for me. Just replace Sugu with Asuna and it would have been awesome, but it just felt weird otherwise. At least take out the dance.

All the wasted potential... *sigh*
6/10, it sucked but I enjoyed most of it too much to bring its score any lower. The ending of the last episode brought it from a 7/10 to a 6/10, it just left a sour taste in my mouth. If they have just ended it earlier I would have been fine, or ended at least ended it with a scene with Asuna, you know, the main female lead and main source of romance in the show which was supposed to be one of the biggest driving forces and NOT the younger sister. Seriously wtf A-1

I didn't think I would say this before, but please don't make a second season. Just let it die, stop making it suffer, just let it die, please...

Yeah i thought it was pretty stupid now much screen time Sugu got with Kirito and not Asuna, especially since its the last episode. Oh well.

Wonder what he said at the end as well.

Okay, glad that the show has come to an end, although the ending wasn't significant but it was a good end (sometimes it makes me felt like watching a Disney movie).

SAO is watchable, not a great series or masterpiece, but it isn't bad either. I like the novel, but A-1 butchered it too much, at least they compensate for the art works quality, beautiful backgrounds and scenery overall. I really like what they did with the world tree ( didn't expect it to be that unique and beautiful), the floating castle and such.

+ for SAO: Good music, interesting concepts, beautiful art works. Despite deus ex machina, the overall story is watchable. Good for new generation anime audiences.

- for SAO: poor execution and pacing due to the lack of screen times. Characters development aren't strong enough (then again, time). Lots of unexplained stuffs which made them look like plot holes (although there are plot holes but a majority of them can be explained, as they did in the novel).

Overall, SAO is a fun ride, I think I'm gonna give it a 7.
Now we just wait for the sales and the S2 announcement.

Dear Lume, there is a lovely invention I wish to inform you of called "google". Yes, I know it is a stupid name, and if you were to say that 10 times to the 100th power, I would still contend that it is stupid, but that is neither here or there, or indeed anywhere but perhaps over there, but the point is, if you direct your browser to this google entity, and type "read sword art online novel" into said box on said webpage, on said silly named site, you will be able to find treasures far beyond that of avarice.

I actually smiled while watching this last episode.
The mild romance was kinda... sweet.
I liked how they concluded the series... A light-hearted happy end.
No, this anime was not a masterpiece, but definitely above average.
Looking forward to a 2nd season, and hoping that A-1 Pictures rewatch and review their work, so that they don't screw up with the development for the next arc.
An inconsistent anime that i enjoyed watching every week nonetheless.
8/10.
EDIT: Also, haters can hate. But the current SAO rating still stands at 8.5ish~.Not trying to be Captain Obvious, but that means more people like it than hate it, so there.

Overall a pretty good anime. It was insanely enjoyable and finished off with a good solid end. The SAO arc was really good but the ALO arc was complete shit. I wish these 2 arcs were separate so I could rate them appropriately.

SAO arc - 8/10

ALO arc - 3/10

I can't wait for the next season of SAO. It was an insane ride from start to finish and I look forwards to more in the future. GG SAO GG!!?

Loved how asuna didn't give a shit about kirito's wounds :3
First dekomori with new haircut at the end of chuu2byou ...
Now silica at the end of ALO with nekomimi (?!)
Why they put the awesome stuff in the end (?!) :C
LOL at klein, looks exactly like his avatar xD... i wanted klein to flirt suguha, that would be hilarious x3...
Everyone talk about GGO is the best of all... is it really ? or just a overrated thing ? o.o
maybe i would have to read the novel someday...

He would be in deep shit if he did flirt with Sugu, working man, middle school student, no go.

Are you freaking kidding me?!! I'm sorry, but I only watched this show for Asuna x Kirito, and I thought the last episode would just be about them.

How wrong was I...they set up scenes btw Suguha and Kirito as if they also ended up together. I just didn't like that. I was waiting for Asuna to come and fly off with Kirito while holding hands, but instead I get nothing. Suguha just couldn't move on huh..seriously I just saw no need for her to be in love with him..so freaking stupid.

Good overall I guess.
I am a sucker for romance!!!!

Reki remembers Sachi very well in his novels.
Who is Reki again? Klein?
In case that's a serious question (I can't always tell these days), Reki is the novel's author.
Really? OK, now that is surprising. I did not know. Pen name?
Kawahara Reki. I think it's his real name, but I'm not sure.

Not sure why, but this song sprang into mind with your post.

Boy, you're gonna jerk on that chain, jerk on that chain, a long time
Boy, you're gonna jerk on that chain, jerk on that chain, a long time
I never give you my pillow I only send you my invitations And in the middle of the celebrations I break down
Boy, you're gonna jerk on that chain jerk on that chain a long time Boy, you're gonna jerk on that chain jerk on that chaint a long time
I think I get the point.

Well, like I said, I can't always tell... oh well, I didn't lose much of my life typing this.

So its finally over ... an all i have to say is mehh
The last episodes was alright however it felt kinda lame which ive felt that the entire ALO arc was kinda weak. Overall the series was great, although my interest of the anime continued to fall steadily as the show progressed, Sword Art Online remains one of the series that has stood out for me in a while.

I'm pretty sure Kirito mouthed "I love you both. After this, lets have a threesome" at the end of the show.

:p

Series was far from perfect. Lots of pacing and flow issues. But it wasn't as bad as the haters made it out to be.

I agree with Ainclad arc being the better of the two major arcs. ALO really just turned into another sister brother love fest.

Enjoyable ride for me.
