Another 10/10, and I actually liked this more than Sakamichi no Apollon, an anime that I also gave a 10. Difference is, I loved it from the start, and I didn't even like this show for the first 6 or 7 episodes. Everything came together so beautifully. I love this anime so much, and I am thrilled that it ended so nicely. Couldn't help but smile the whole way through. It just barely broke into my top 5, and it probably won't stay there for long, but it deserves the 10 I gave it. That makes this my fourth 10 of the spring season. Man, I hope summer is even half as good as this.

Tapioca gets best end.

Tsuritama was so positive, so happy, it was infectious. Happy endings can work sometimes, and I'm so glad Tsuritama managed to pull it off. After all, anything else wouldn't have fit the positive tone of the series.

It goes without saying, [C] was clearly some kind of freak accident. Nakamura Kenji returned to form here, with his trademark emphasis on visuals too. Tsuritama's colors were so eye-popping and vibrant, adding to the tone of the show. And major props for the slow-build of the first couple of episodes. If it weren't for all the character building episodes, I wouldn't have cared for any of these guys once the plot had kicked in. Great execution; that sums Tsuritama up perfectly. 8/10

Easily the best Noitamina season since Tatami Galaxy and House of Five Leaves.

Nice ending. Everyone's happy and so am I.

I'll just pretend Koko never came back.

She's older and isn't a student. Heck, with a second season they might have her show up as a teacher xD

She's younger. And it's COCO, CO-CO ! Koko is in Jormungand !

x'D. Damn funny.

This-need-a-second-season !

it seems i wasn't the only one who loved the OMG. everyone is loving that scene.

but damn this was a really enjoyable anime for me.
i never would have guessed for this to be an amazing anime. when i read the synopsis when we 1st of this anime, i was think "nah" i mean cmon its fishing.
o how i was so wrong and im glad i gave this a chance.

Well, that was good. Not so superb in my opinion though. That last bit about them coming back didn't feel like a good ending. I'd rather they'd have stopped before they showed the classroom scene, and instead made an ova that they came back, after maybe a year or two. Urara is cute though. haha. Love the blue hair with pink undertones. :) But damn, he's a tiny fish. :))

Hmm... hard to rate the series. I enjoyed it, but the plot was a little off, if I may be critical. I like Yuki's character. It was a bit too much happy happy - good in a way - but the serious parts of this show did not gel well. Like it was half bipolar.

maybe 7/10...? or 8... hmm...

This show never got real serious which is great, the feel good ending was exactly what needed to happen. All the little charms this series had were so subtle and minute, it's hard to put into words, a very unique show indeed. It drove a hard line between shows that are playful but lag excitement, and shows that are weird just for the sake of "being weird." The music was more enjoyable than typical anime themes too.

Loved the anime! ^^ Great ending as well! I love it when they show how each character is doing in the future! Only thing that I didn't like is how they brought Haru back :/ I don't have anything against him, it just seems like they wanted to satisfy his fans, even if there was no reason for him to come back.

I was just wondering why he and the other guy came back without any explanation ^^;

I've never seen anything like it and I'm glad I picked up this show. It was uplifting, delightful and a joy to watch.

I've even learned a thing or two about fishing too. I think I would have liked it better if it ended when the ED played because it's a perfect closing song. However, there is some warmth that comes with the return of Haru and Urara.

8/10. Eno, shima, don!

I need to agree with Post-Josh that animation, art/graphics was something outstanding in this anime, but still this show wasn't something particulary good as it don't catch your attention too much (same with Hyouka) and you keep on pausing it.

Are you homophobic? That's the only way I can possibly see this being called yaoi, if you think normal friendship is "sew gayy".

Exactly. I'm starting to get really annoyed with those comments "uh, gay, yaoi shit" for manga/animes with boys. It just annoying how a person automatically thinks that to be manly you have be a macho men or that's impossible for men to have a cute friendship. Dude, I have many friends who care for each other, support each other and hug each other, and that doesn't make them less manly.
Anyway, when it's the other way around, everyone is fine with cute girls doing cute things. K-On proves that! I know the fandom turned this anime into BL with a lot of fanarts, doujinshis and stuff, but if you stop and think: every damn anime has its own BL fandom, you can find BL doujinshis and fanarts for Toriko, KHR, Kaiji, One Piece...
Just stop it already. If you don't like it, okay by me, but please stop with those comments of "gay uh", because there are people who will not watch it just because they read that and it really bothers me when someone says "oh, now I know why you like it, so it's yaoi...".
No, it's about friendship, dumbass.

What do you mean? It IS focused on fishing. What have you been watching all along? Apparently you need to get your eyes checked. Was it because of Natsuki holding onto Yuki as Yuki was fishing? Or was it because of Urara's feminine personality?

As you know soft-core yaoi (or shounen-ai) as according to Animenewsnetwork:

"means "boy" and "love," which is exactly what shōnen-ai means, boy-love. It refers to anime and manga that focus on love and romance (as opposed to sex) between boys or men (typically bishōnen)."

Define which part of this show have any of this.

The end.

This show was the only one that really stood out in the seasonal chart; and it kept at that the whole way through.
While my overall expectations of the show were met, I'd initially assumed it would be overshadowed by the bigger NoitaminA title that had received more attention along with its hype (ugh).
Fortunately, that was not the turn out, and Tsuritama received the recognition it deserved.

It made the most of what it had, and while the animation wasn't a 10/10; the charm in its simple and stylistic execution was unmistakable, as was the presentation of the story and themes - all kept to a concise core and perfected in Nakamura's craft of directing. It's a memorable piece well worth its time.

And those dismissing it with "gay" comments; Whatever. They're not deserving of watching a feel-good series like this anyway, nor are those who overlook the series because of a word being thrown around by the insecure phobes.

wonderful ending for an anime which was a beautiful and strange story on the power of friendship amidst crisis...lots of tears - wish this one didn't have to end so soon - most honorable mention goes to seiyuu fumi hirano as yuki's grandma (also played lum on urasei yatsura all those years ago) and sayonara ponytail for the gorgeous ED theme - check out their music, a great band! tsuritama gets a 9 o' 10 from me for pure enjoyment........

Very good series it really had a movie-esque feel to it as apposed to an TV anime. Brilliant art, animation and an excellent OST. I thought the antagonist was going to be more menacing giving the scope of his powers but i guess thats Kenji Nakamura for you, expect the unexpected.

Ohhhhh. So apparently invading a planet and causing global trouble isn't that much of a big deal. Kids were sent to apprehend another kid, who in the end was still allowed to return (doubt he escaped or something). Imagine how scary the adult criminals from Haru's planet would be.

Overall, I enjoyed this show's charm and how it ended. An OVA would be great.
