| 9.6/10 ~= 10/10.. the only let down is its plot and characters not being epic but just good enough.. animation and sound is over the top and i enjoyed it a lot.. i don't care if alto didn't choose.. i do not take sides on either of the two girls.. if only i can watch the previous macross animes.. all i was able to get my hand onto is macross zero.. |
| 8/10 overall, this anime was very good. Great plot, and the production improved a lot in the last 10 episodes. I loved the battles + songs mixed, some were very fitting. Some bad points for the bad characters, and it takes a while to actually get into the anime, even if you watch it in some days. I didn't expect to like it like I did though, so it was definitively a good surprise. |

| I gave Macross Frontier a 9.5/10, so basically a 10.. I would have probably given it a 10 if I watched Macross Frontier as it was airing....I wish I got into it a lot sooner. But at least I want to watch the rest of the Macross series :) Seemed like a very rushed/typical ending, but it was great overall in my opinion. The love triangle was executed fantastically, "dogfights" were some of the best eye-candy I've seen in anime... and character development was pretty good as well, poor Michael =[ Alto and Sheryl FTW! ^^ Otakuman said: DonKangolJones said: hope the movie isn't a terribly condensed form of the series *ugh!* If it is, count me out. ^THIS, I really hope there is not a condensed OVA T_T, any word on the release/showing date? |

| All things considered, this was probably one of the best series ever in terms of visuals and sound. The plot went kind of wacky at the end though, and the love triangle not being resolved = AGH. Interstellar Flight = Awesome song. |

| Well as I suspected it was Galaxy that was behind the Vajra attacks... still the final episode was somewhat of a let down it felt rushed and was hardly an ending, I have expected Alto to end up with Ranka and accepted that Sheryl would die, which would be ok with me despite liking her way more than Ranka, but the triangle didn't even come close to a conclusion when Sheryl was miraculously saved from her terminal disease so obviously in order to milk this some more with a sequel. Anyway overall the series was good, despite the needlessly overcomplicated plot, despite being nonsensical quite a few times, despite the rushed ending, despite the CGI-poisoning, despite all that and more it still managed to win me over and have me glued in front of my monitor... and for that it deserves my praise and I will certainly stick around for that sequel, hoping to see a conclusion. BTW Frontier had the first Macross soundtrack since DYRL? that I actually enjoyed... kudos for that too. |

| This series was simply incredibly and one of the best sci-fi mech anime I've ever seen! The animation and cgi fit together seamlessly and the space battles were fantastic. However, the star of the series is the wonderful soundtrack which I will listen to on my iPod over and over again. The final space montage melody was the highlight of the finale. Hopefully the movie will clear up all the loose ends, but I'm perfectly fine with how the series ended. Macross Frontier certainly exceeded my expectations 10/10 |

I knnow that sounds a bit shallow but its the simple fact that you can't spend that long setting up a Love triangle that complex and deep, just to not resolve it in the end. I might of been dissapointed if Sheryl was to be chosen but I would not be frustrated. I OFFICIALLY RATE THIS AS ONE OF MY BIGGEST WASTES OF TIME! It had great fights but the mere fact that the only satisifying relationship lasted 2 mins before Michael had to get killed, just proves that your show failed somewhere. And the whole last 3 episodes were confusing and utterly drawn out for no reason. They gave the ending 3mins!! 3 F**KIN MINUTES!! That's not enough time!! Well I heard they have a movie out. I'm going to look up the summary, this show officially does not warrent my time ever again. I enjoyed the music, I enjoyed the fights, but never have I ever been so unsatisfied with an ending as bad as this one (well except maybe Beserk but at least that still continues manga-wise). F**k you M. Frontier for making me one of the most dissapointed fan-boys of all time. You can pull that sh*t on me when I've only been involved for about 12-13 episodes. BUT AFTER 25 EPS.! GIVE ME A F**KIN BREAK! F**K!!!! |

| Okay, so I calmed down a little after last night. While I still am PISSED that it ended that way, I'll settle with giving the show a 8. The music was too good to mark it as bad as a 6. I've gone crazy with the Nyan Nyan song. it's horribly addicting! |

| The ending was pretty good. Though overall, I probably didn't enjoy this series as much as I did the first Macross or even Macross 7(believe or not) lol but still it was a very entertaining watch 8/10 |

| Well... I was expecting more dramatic ending which could make Macross Frontier absolute masterpiece... But the whole story/ost/character painting/battles and so on... was exelent. I think overall for me is 9.5/10. But i voted for 10 points anyway. Macross Frontier is definitely one of MUST SEE ANIMES and its really great masterpiece... Cant wait for Macross F movie on eng subs. |

| What an amazing finale. This single episode was a 9/10 - if only the rest of the series were as good. :/ Superb use of music. Even though the lyrics are terrible, I couldn't shake off the monumental feeling the songs combined with the large-scale battle sequences delivered. Strong 7/10 and probably my favourite installment in the Macross franchise (together with Zero). |

| What the? Hmm, I actually enjoyed the episode...somehow. But how the hell did he chose the sky in the end? Damn...enjoyed the series anyway. Art-9 Story-7? (the sky? lame) Music-13(i like 13; problems?) Character-9 Enjoyment-10 I think it is one of the best animes out there (passing by the obvious*ahem*Ranka*ahem* problems)...I really enjoyed it(would've had even more if the ending was only with Sheryl and Alto; but you can't have anything in life) so it gets a 10/10 from me :D Onto the movie now... |

| I think I'm going to have to side with the Michael fans here. That seemed like a desperate plot development move to me. It's like, 'hey, nobody's died so far, why not rush a relationship between Klan and Michael in like, 3 episodes, then kill Michael?' FUCK YOU KAWAMORI!!! Aside from that issue... I was waiting for Sheryl to die singing for Alto, so that Alto could have been together with Ranka. Not that I wanted Sheryl to die or anything, but at least it wouldn't have been left with this love-triangle (or square, if you include the sky in the picture LOL) ending. It could have been semi-artistic that way, Sheryl leaving her legacy to Ranka, or something along those lines. Anywho, I suppose it leaves things open ended for the movies, which I have yet to see. Hopefully we'll see more planets being half eaten and such (The weapons never seemed that epic to me - but THAT was enjoyable) Interesting concept for a story though, I've gotta give Kawamori that much. Over all, I'd give it an 8 |
| Awesome series overall, and definitely one of the few that's kept me up all night watching. An awesome series, I must add, with an ending that completely undermined everything good that the series constructed before, seemingly in an attempt to make some kind of massive - seriously massive - epic story that encompasses everything about everything in that universe. Trying to accomplish that in 25 episodes is an impossible task, without completely focusing on the plot and leaving out most of the character development...and by that, I mean most of the stuff in Frontier that was actually really good. The first episode. Ranka singing for Alto the first time. His "date" with Sheryl. The scene where the two are singing in front of him in the hospital. That stuff was really good, and meaningful in its own way. Someone obviously (and ironically) had a large-scale idea of what meaningfulness is, and decided to attempt an unnecessarily epic tale, which actually made me almost forget about the world they lived in, that someone actually did a really good job creating. An epic story needs to be an epic length, and 25 episodes just doesn't cut it. Not even close. tl;dr: If you're just skimming through to look for quick reviews, then I'll say: really good series, awesome characters, some stuff that doesn't make sense, a horribly convoluted and unsatisfying ending, but regardless of its faults, it's very enjoyable and worth watching if you've got the time. Actually, I just remembered that there are movies and extras and stuff. I should probably go watch that after I've had time to sleep and figure out what the hell I just watched. |

| Well, this show was amazing in the beginning and towards the end, but the middle was just kinda "eh". I also made a 180 from liking Ranka and wanting to kill Sheryl to absolutely loving Sheryl while thinking Ranka is just annoying. No matter what the (somewhat) ambiguous ending indicates, I don't think there's a chance for Alto x Ranka to happen at this point with all the development on the other end, so I'll just be happy with that in mind. 8/10 |
| Weak queen is weak. Oh well. This anime was so full of win. Tl;dr moar Sheryl is needed. Aaand less Ranka kthnx. Now to decide whether it's a 9 or 8. Also, Northern Cross, Iteza gogo kuji Don't Be Late, and Diamon Crevasse. How I love those songs. Of course, not forgetting the May'n version of Lion, which is superior to the OP version. |
